uhg. babies. just another reason for me to hate them.
My sentiments right here.

I find it irritating, but then I find everything about children irritating. I loathe the little bastards so it kind of goes without saying for me. I only ask the people at least try to cover themselves a bit.

That said I hate seeing couples make out in public so maybe I'm just a corrupt soul.

I never understood why the fuck anyone would care or think it was their business. The world doesn't revolve around you and it's not okay for you to tell a woman not to feed a hungry baby because the sight of it makes you uncomfortable, if you're uncomfortable then it's your problem and too frigging bad.

I find it amusing the people who think women should be allowed to breastfeed in public has no argument beyond the fact it is benefical for children. Like no argument against breatfeeding will ever hold water because it can always be countered with "well it is feeding a hungry child".

I think that after they have the child, they feel like they have to fuck up other people's lives too. Have you ever traveled in a bus where a baby defecated and threw up?

I don't mind it. If people don't like it then they can use this new fangled invention called a neck to look the other way. Id rather have the baby sucking on a boob than crying!

As long as they aren't teenage mothers I'm fine with it.
And that makes a difference how? Ageist much?

Heres something to think about:
A mother is breastfeeding in public, shes fine with the idea.

You see a mother breastfeeding in public and don't like boobs (or whateva), you feel uncomfortable.

So whos got the problem?

Maybe the one with the problem should go to the toilet for an hour until it's over.
What an incredibly peculiar argument!

Pardon me if I'm wrong, but can't your argument be used to give pretty much anyone a carte blanche to act like a complete douche?

I'm setting off smoke bombs in the café, I'm fine with the idea.

You're not.

You go away.
Incredibly absurd situation, I know, however, music is something we all listen to, right? Smoke bombs may not be the norm.
Imagine the following scene taking place in a cafeteria.
I like listening to songs by Justin Bieber on the largest boom box you've ever seen, on full blast, I'm fine with the idea.

You're not.

You go away.
You're basically saying that the victims of this public indecency are at fault here, so I wonder, when there's a thread about a flasher, will you say that "They should go away" in order to not be offended?

I actually find it appalling that these women consider themselves entitled, nay justified to expose their bodies for all to see, on the shaky ground that a baby needs feeding. There are substitutes, and there are, if I recall correctly ways to extract that milk before going out to a café or similar.

These people are equivalent to trolls, in my book, lacking all sense of common courtesy, then using their insane troll logic to justify themselves.

People, there's nothing *sexual* about breastfeeding. Silly Americans and their obsession with nudity...

It comes down to this: the baby gets hungry. Would you rather have a mother breastfeeding it in public, or listen to the horribly loud bawling because the mom can't/won't find a space private enough for feeding. Not a mother myself but I'd imagine going to the toilet is awkward and yucky to the woman.

I have no problem with people breastfeeding in public, although I do believe t hey should make some attempt to be at least subtle about it. Most women however do. I have more of a problem with the ones who ignore their child screaming or misbehaving in public.

However, the thing that is ultimately the worst about parents.. and I say this as a step father myself... is that all to often they assume the whole world now has to revolve around the needs of them and their child. That children somehow have a get out of jail free card for obnoxious behavior as do their parents. That disagreeing with them is somehow disgusting and immoral because there are childen involved.

Parents, especialy of young childen, need to admit and recognise one simple fact.. most of their reactions to criticism of them and their offspring are based on emotions and hormones.. and as with anything that is a reaction based purely on emotion and hormones, we should learn to at least be able to balance those out with rational thought.

How is being beneficial for children not good enough? The only argument against breastfeeding is "it's gross and I don't want to have to see it". You, a grown adult (or close enough to it), would rather make a baby wait potentially hours in misery just so that you don't have to be uncomfortable by seeing some boob out of the corner of your eye. This is just utterly rude and selfish.

While this is probably a weird comparison, I compare public breastfeeding to smoking.

You should be free do do so in a public area without any fear of being slapped by the law. However, if someone comes up to you and politely asks you to cover yourself/snuff out that flame, do the courteous thing and give your baby a bottle/put out the light.

I'm not against breastfeeding in public, although I do feel the mother should do as much as she can to make it as private as possible. My point was this entire debate is entirely pointless when one side can keep playing the unbeatable children card.

The comparison is weird because it doesn't work.

Second hand smoke can cause damage. Breastfeeding a hungry child avoids damage. One is healthy, one isn't.

Except for the fact no one has ever died of second-hand breastfeeding.

EDIT: Damn, guy above me beat me to it.

Eh, it's debatable on how detrimental second-hand smoking is. My main point was how people should have freedoms, but should be courteous to other people's freedoms aswell. Just be nice, people, not to hard.

Has anyone died of second-hand smoking? I would like to know, never heard of anyone dieing of second-hand lung cancer or whatever.

Someone lost an eye once though. :p
The major difference is smoking is not a necessity. While you can say "oh she should bring a bottle or whatever" as some people have pointed out it isn't always an option.

That's because there is no such thing as second-hand lung cancer.

But a baby doesn't need to suck on your balls for sustinance. It's a natural part of life and although I'm not 100% for it, babies' have to eat. :D
