If I was a bar owner and someone came to me and said "Do something about that woman breastfeeding her child, it's disturbing us.", I'd reply "Well, please leave my bar, I don't like having perverts in here".
IMO, if anyone see something wrong in a woman breastfeeding, then there is something wrong in their own mind. It's like protesting in a museum because the ancient greek statue is nude, or a dictionnary because there are anatomical drawing of genitalia.

The perversion is in the eye of the beholder.

while i personally would prefer it if they didnt, i understand that the baby has to eat, if its outside then there's not really too many places you can go, however if its in a restaurant i'd rather they went to the bathroom or something otherwise its realllly awkward
Pretty much this. Yeah, I know, your baby's crying because it's hungry, but you can take the twelve seconds to get to the friggin' bathroom before you whip your breasts out. If you're like in the middle of a park or something, I kind of understand, but at least sit down under a tree or something. Don't like walk around in front of people while you're doing that.

I don't have any problem with it, it's just a boob with a baby attached. Some Americans seem to only see nudity as always being of a sexual context and as a result always obscene. Nudity is a fairly natural thing, we're all naked at least once every couple of days (showers, baths, changing underwear, etc) so I don't see why folk make such a big deal about it. If you are offend, just don't look. Most mothers I've seen doing it, don't draw attention to it and tend to go for seats in corners anyway.

I'm honestly surprised at how many people this seems to bother, and how strongly they feel about it. Maybe it's an American thing, because I've never known it be a major issue over here in Europe. So yeah, I ticked "all for it"; hope the baby enjoys.

Also can't understand the dividing line some people have made between 'in public' and? in a restaurant?. Why is it worse for a baby to feed in a place made for eating? Is the sight so repellent that it puts people of their food? Am seriously curious.

Having said that, I have nothing I can really use to argue against them: the usual arguments of its good for the physical and mental health of the mother and child will be met with, use a pump and a bottle. The main people who don't like breast-feeding in public don't because they simply have their sense of decency set at an arbitrarily different level to my own.

I don't mind if a woman decides to breastfeed in public, just like I wouldn't mind a woman to get her boobs out for no reason in public.

I understand that some people think it should be done privately, but baby's can get hungry at any time, wouldn't you much rather have a woman (as discreetly as possible) breastfeed in public than have to sit and listen to a whining baby for ages?

When the baby is hungry It needs to eat simple.
If "modern" society gets ofended by somethin 95% of the world population did when they were born, my hopes in society go downhill.

Hell I bet many of you were breastfeed in public

"Modern" Society my ass

Is there any reason she can't do it in the bathroom or something? I mean, she is exposing herself in public. If a random hooker or someone had one breast hanging out, it would be obscene. No reason she can't do it a little more privately.

Oh, and if you really want to be a dick to that woman, tell her about this fascinating invention called the "baby bottle".

Honestly, it can't be that hard to find somewhere out of view to feed the child. Bathroom, secluded hallway, phone booth. They just make a fuss about it because it inconveniences them.

America was founded by the prudes that Europe wouldn't tolerate so it only makes sense that we would have a problem acting natural bc 'its a sin'
and maybe not all americans see it as such but growing up in a society that thinks this way makes us uncomfortable on the subject of feeding the little ones in the way nature God intended. Don't you love irony?

I'm going to go with the aforementioned that a tit slip is wayyyy better than a crying child on any day of the week.

Not sure if this has already been said, but why not just have the mothers put their milk into bottles beforehand instead?
I personally don't have an issue with breastfeeding in public, by the way.

You have to sit around with a pump on your tits in order to get it into the bottles in the first place. So when you weight sitting around milking yourself versus looking away in terms of convenience, breastfeeding wins.

How dare, how dare I say, that woman drag herself out of the house where she might inconvenience you with the sight of a perfectly natural phenomenon.

Come on, boyo, she went through nine months of relative hell and then squeezed a baby out of a hole severely undersized for the job. Now you want her to stay at home, too? Post-natal depression gets so many women in part because of the isolation you'd see mothers go through to prevent you seeing a nipple. You're perfectly justified in not wanting to see it, but she's also perfectly justified in wanting to go out on occasion. Babies get hungry at all hours, man, she's just got to go with the very literal flow.
Counter point, washrooms are relatively private areas, why can't they go to there? They are very literally all over the place, malls, stores, resteraunts, you name it and it probably has a washroom. The only inconvienance to the mother is probably about 20 steps, and it diminishes any awkwardness on either ends.

Not to say I'm against it as it doesn't bother me, but the opportunity is always there.

Personally I don't see why we just don't introduce some place women can breastfeed privately. We have toilets so people can wee and poo privately, so why not? Now I'm not 100% sure how the whole thing works, so there could be some issue with that I'm not seeing, but it seems like it could work.
Some women do go to the restroom to breastfeed, that's perfectly fine. Still, I think the principle of the matter of freedom and whatnot.

It inconveniences them FOR NO FUCKING GOOD REASON. Other than the fact that some people have an inexplicable issue with seeing female breast.

It makes you uncomfortable does it? Then grow up? It's a woman feeding her child, not all woman wish to do that in some bathroom (which probably smells sand has pooticles floating around in the air, ew), and not everyone agrees with bottle feeding. So the option is for you to grow up. I know, far be it for me to ask the entitled men to change (or maybe just not look in that general direction).

I'm just gonna sum up the dillemma here.

Women can bottle feed (which not every woman agrees with) or go to the restroom (which can be icky, and as it has been previously stated, breastfeeding can take a while sometimes).

OR

Guys can get over it. Lose the puritanical hangup of seeing a breast (gasp). I know it's not all your fault. I know we live in a society that completely sexualizes breasts and thus makes them 'indecent'. But get over it. Just...get over it. Stop trying to impose your view of these things on mothers. No one should jump through hoops to feed just because you can't be an adult and handle it.

That. Not to mention pumping will dry up your milk and the bottle, as much as compaines will tell you different, is nothing like a nipple, which will make baby not latch on to you nipple properly again.

When I was breastfeeding I made the almost fatal mistake of nearly pumping it all and losing all my milk.
