Good luck with that one! One of the most natural things in the world be made illegal? Sorry, but that's laughable and makes you look really stupid.

I believe in the "You have the right to look away" mentality. I'm just surprised how prude many have become. Is it really that disgusting to see a boob? Sure, some have a problem with it, but they have the right to look away, I think most people don't have a problem with it, and if you have a problem, you can use a blindfold, I don't understand why mothers should have to go through the trouble of moving to an entirely different room.

And yes, there is clothing and blankets you can cover it up with, but if you have a problem with it, why don't you buy one for her? What if she doesn't want to spend her hard earned money on it? (Yes, I'm aware that it isn't that expensive, but it's the principal of the matter)

If it is a crime to go topless in public without the baby, it should be a crime to do so with the baby too. I don't particularly care about seeing breastfeeding in public (except in restaurants, that's gross), but breastfeeding women should have to adhere to the same laws as everyone else.

I don't urinate in public and that's a perfectly "natural" act. If I have uncontrollable diarrhea while eating in an Indian restaurant, I don't let loose at the table where I'm eating, I go to the bathroom first. I realize that asking breastfeeding mothers to do so in a bathroom is probably too much, but maybe they shouldn't have gone out in public with a hungry baby in the first place?

But, I realize this whole issue can be averted if it was legal for women to go topless in public. Win-Win anyone?

So you're saying that all mothers should be locked inside their house all their lives? As someone who knows a person who has to stay indoors 100% of her time, it's a fucking dreadful experience. If I personally couldn't leave the house, I'd probably off myself.

I've read through a spattering of the comments on this thread and I can see there's definately a lot of mix opinions about all this, so here I go with my two pennyworth:

Did you know that breast feeding is actually better for a young baby than anything else? Bare that in mind when breastfeeding is already stigmatised and many women are afraid of doing it at all let alone in public!

So what we're ending up with with people being squeemish over something that is perfectly natural, more natural than socital prejudice I might add, and the more it is stigmatised the less it will occur in general, to the harm, in the end, of the child.

The woman isn't flaunting it, or trying to make someone feel uncomfortable, she's a mother, and at moments when she needs to care for her child that's what she is, a mother, nothing more, nothing less.

People need for the sake of women and children everywhere, to get over this inability to differentiate 'boobs' as a sex object and 'breasts' a means by which human females feed their young.

Finally, before westerination in many places women went topless and that was perfectly natural. Think about it.

If the baby needs to be fed then it needs to be fed. Its a totally natural thing and I dont see why its a problem. Its been scientifically proven that breast milk is better for babies than formula milk and it these kind of anti breastfeeding in public attitudes that are turning mothers away from breastfeeding.
People dont have a problem seeing cats or dogs taking milk from their mothers so why should there be a problem with people doing it? Thats what boobs are for at the end of the day.

This is treading dangerously close to a logic loop, so I will simply say this--

Assuming both needs are equal-- your need to scratch your balls and the lady's to feed her child--

Then it's as simple as this-- You do not need to whip your balls out to scratch them, as your hand can comfortably address the issue without spilling your jewels out over your fly.However, the lady would look awfully strange cramming a baby up her blouse, and I don't think it would end well for any party involved.
