The real problem is the possibility of minors getting their hands on games with said "boobage".
When compared to movies, yeah the age group is the same, but what a kid can get and what a kid can get into are two different things (i.e. Easier to get an M game than to sneak into an R movie [If the theater is halfway competent])

I will not be voting. Because I say, Maybe. It depends on how they're depicted. Are we talking Mass Effect, or Leisure Suit Larry?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the US powers that be ridiculously uptight about nudity anyway? I've only heard this anecdotally, but some friends that live in America have joked that a woman can walk completely naked down the street and not get arrested as long as she has her nipples covered.

Again, this may be a load of crap but I'd be interested to know.

EDIT: erm... to be on topic, I voted yes. why not?

Breasts and nudity in general is already allowed in M rated games. God of War, and GTA4 DLC had brief nudity. Age of Conan allowed female characters to run around topless 24/7.

Lack of nudity isn't from rating restrictions , for the most part, it's from developers not wanting to gown that road

There really isn't an issue here. While gaming can still be criticized for things you could see in an R-rated film, like sex, I wouldn't exactly say there's a double-standard being set with toplessness. Most R-rated films don't have fully-visible breasts (at least not until they go "unrated" on DVD), and even then, it's minimal. M-rated games with visible breasts do exist, so it's not like there's a ban on nudity in gaming altogether.

If memory serves there HAVE been games in which breasts are exposed. Biggest example is God of War. The infamous Sex minigames, plus almost every female enemy you face. GTA 4 if you count the strippers with the little bit of tape. BMX XXX is a good example as well.

I think the question is not "Should there be breasts in games," but "Should there be breasts in MORE games?"

...No...that isn't what I was going to say at all.

Video games are, compared to movies, a new medium.
Wasn't that actor in Gone With The Wind fined for saying "damn?"

We're still around that stage.
Comparatively.

Now, my problem is this: Do I think they should be allowed?
Yes.
Do I want tits in my games?
No.
I agree entirely with this.
By the time kids are 16 nowadays most of them have already had sex and who knows how early they've been seeing nudity in movies and their ilk.

But on the other hand I'm worried that game developers will start to abuse it.
(I don't need it in my games and I'd rather have quality over boobs.)

I'm pretty much in the middle on this one.

I honestly don't want boobs in my games. I don't see how anyone would make a game at this point in time with boobs, and actually have it tastefully done. It would be there simply for the objectification of women. In cinema, you can take breaks from the action, and show two people in love getting it on. If you did the equivalent of that in a game, it would come off as gratuitous porn. Games can't take breaks from the action, because then you won't be playing a game. Sure, there are cutscenes that this could work in, but the chances of it working right are slim.

All that said, I still voted yes. There's nothing wrong with boobs, but I'm certain that the motivation for putting boobs in a game would end up being a selling point and not to make a tasteful piece of artwork.

I'll go out on the limb, and look like a perv. Gaming has developed to the point where nudity, both female AND male, would be a welcome addition to the storyline. There is a game for every type of gamer, and story lines have developed to at the VERY least and equal point as the stories featured in major movies. The major difference between the two is length and interactivity. Games let you do things largely your way, and even most short games have a length many times longer the the average feature film *if you include storyline AND game play*

This said, I don't get how people not only are okay with nudity in feature films, and even limited nudity on prime time TV, but cannot imagine even partial nudity in a game. And just to clarify, this has NOTHING to do with pornography. By the US standards, you can show breasts in a PG-13 movie, just not full frontal nudity, and it cannot be in a sexual act/way.
