Does anyone else miss the BoF series as much as I do? I must have played the first 2 a dozen times each and the next 3 at least 3-4 times each. It saddens me that this old rpg series isn't getting the love and attention it deserves.

So I put it to you, the escapist community, does the breath of fire series deserve a come back?

Breath of Fire 3 is one of my favorite games of my life! It was flawless just every detail perfect! I haven't played any of the others but I did download BoF 4 on psn. I haven't played it yet because I'm afraid it won't be as good as 3.

As long as the new game isn't like that piece of shit Dragon Quarter, I would totally support bringing back the BoF series.

Breath of Fire has morphed into a totally different style of game than it used to be. I'd love to see a return to it's roots. Maybe something in the style of one of the first three games. Two and Three were amazing, and I'd still play them today.

The series ended on a high note (for me) with Dragon Quarter, so I'd prefer if they don't start making BoF games again.

Loved 1, especially 2. 3 was meh. Never played it after that. Every few years I break out the Gameboy Advance and the Gamecube and fire 2 up on the TV, though. Good times.

I dunno I loved 1 and I loved 4, 2 was ok 3 was half right but it didn't click well with me. I loved 4, I MEAN WANTZ TO MARRY LUFFF...... I want more of it. I have 5 but not got enough energy to deal with the new BS way of doing things and I am still not done with FF12/DQ8 >>

I ABSOLUTELY loved BoF 3, as well as the other ones.(though I did stop at 4). This series definitely needs to be looked at again. Seems like every game introduced something new; they didn't just copy + paste form previous ones.

BoF 3 in particular shares the first place RPG title for me. AWESOME story, plenty of characters without overloading, and some creative battle ideas (what with the dragon gems and the use of masters). If they ever release this on a new platform, I wouldn't be able to throw money at it fast enough.

I've only played 2 and 4, and they were very different games. Frankly, I have no idea what a new Breath of Fire would or should be like. That said, I loved them both, so bring it on.

I've also got a mint BoF3 sitting on my shelf that I haven't even touched. Probably should get around to playing through it sometime.

Well, dragon quarter was definitely the low point of the series. Random dungeons were one of the lamest fads of the time, and if BOF 5 hadn't gone that direction, we'd probably have bof 10 by now. Then again, the storyline was essentially that the windaria and dragon bloodlines have become dilute over the years, and would eventually disappear.

BOF 3 was pretty great, but BOF 4 had WAY too many mini-games. It's just not FUN when there are mini-games that often, and LAME mini-games at that!

I've got a lot of nostalgia for the Breath of Fire series, with 3 being the standout title. There's something quite innocent and charming about the series that sets it apart from it more dramatic counterparts (Final Fantasy, Sukoiden, Wild Arms, etc) and it seems more child friendly and more suitable for younger players. With that in mind I'd say that for myself, leave it alone. It's obviously not targeted at my age group and I can live with the memories of it. I wouldn't be opposed to the series continuing for the younger generation but quite how that could be achieved is a bit of a mysetery. The game seems to be a product of its times and asking for it to continue would mean making something new. That could go either way and make something decent or otherwise, but the fact would remain that whatever was created would not be a BoF title, just a product inspired by it even if it does carry the name.

ED: you know another series that I loved, Vandal Hearts. A year or so ago, someone released a new one on XBL. It sucked, hard. I wouldn't want to see that happen with BoF as well.

I miss the breath of fire series. Have pretty much all of them and still play them now and then. Love to see a current gen bof ,either on portables or consoles.

I would love for Capcom to take their heads out of their asses and wake up and see the golden RPG series they have created. I am willing to take a spiritual successor to the BoF series I just want something that is BoF to come back. I swear I feel like I am the only person who liked Dragon Quarter I know it was waaay different from what the series is like. But that is what I liked about it the series essence was there but just made different.
