Poll: Buying the final fantasies for a friend, which is the best title?

Okay so my one friend is graduating from graduate school and is a big time final fantasy fan.
I'm pretty positive she doesn't own a ps3/360 so Final Fantasy 13 is out. Nor do I think she wants to play a MMORPG, so 11 is out.

What I know she owns is a DS Lite,SNES, playstation and Playstation 2.
So, what are the best versions of all the games folks?

I'd say....4.

That was the only one of those I played and I enjoyed it a lot but you said she has an SNES, so get her 6.

That, next to 10 and 13, is the best one.

I enjoyed 10 the most. Sure you have turn-based combat and some embarassingly bad voice acting at points but the story is interesting and the combat isn't that bad. It's also good worth for money as I've probably spent a couple hundred hours on it. If your friend doesn't mind the standard FF character pick and mix (kooky, serious, emo etc) then this is my best suggestion.

So which versions of which games are the best?

I remeber reading the SNES titles were listed incorrectly, and that there are multiple versions of each game on multiple different systems and such.


Also, how do I edit the poll, I tried to add vi-xiii and it wouldnt register X_X

I would go with buying Final Fantasy Anthology, which contains V and VI. VI is pretty widely hailed as the best of the older generation Final Fantasies, and V is quite enjoyable as well. I'd say you wouldn't be able to go wrong with that pick.

Well, my three personal favourites are Final Fantasy VI (belongs to the best SNES RPG's, along with Chrono Trigger and Earthbound), VII (even though everyone apparently hates it now because of the hype it used to get it's still a great game) and IX (heavily underrated, yet I love it and can fully understand it's Sakaguchi's favourite).

The only one of those I played was FF3 so i'd go with it. Plus its on the DS now so its got better graphics and all that.
