They have yet to make a good Vietnam War Game... or a WWI Game... I guess it would be tough, but if they could pull em off, it'd be sweet as hell.

This was probably brought up quite a bit, but seriously! How fun would it be to play a US soldier in a war that we lose?
And will there be a bonus level after we beat the game to shoot all the protesters that call the veterans 'Baby Killers'? Anyway. .
They would likely have a Korean War before Vietnam. Which reminds me! Where's a video game version of MASH? I wanna play Hawkeye.

The idea sounds ineteristing although being the tragedy that the war was, a lot of people would be offended. You could have Colonel Kurtz as the final boss:

Kurtz: Are you there assasin?

Snake: Yes. I'm an assigned stealth soldier choosen by Fox for this mission to terminate you.

Kurtz: You're none of those. You're an errand boy, sent by grocery clerks.

Snake: Fuck you baldy!

FIGHT!

I see a lot of misinformation about America and the Vietnam War in this thread.
Like what?
I'd rather not get banned, so I'll just leave it at that. It's one of the reasons why I try to avoid political topics.

Might be enjoyable. Vietnam was an epic war, and I'm not sure how many good Nam War games there have been, at least recently.

But at the same time there's a tight limit to the amount of forces you can play in conventional nam games. There would have to be a Vietcong story. Well, maybe it could dispel a few myths about the Vietnam war if it were portrayed in such a way. I approve.

I want a future because your melee knife attack would be a mini lightsaber. That would be awesome.

I'm not sure the stereotypical Vietnam mission would fit well. The game would have to stick to the more conventional, stand-up battles against massed forces to be much fun. So, okay, maybe it could be done- Ia Drang, the retaking of Hue, Hamburger Hill- these could make interesting play. If the campaigns could include non-U.S. forces such as the French and the ARVN, interesting battles such the near-destruction of Groupement Mobile No. 100 and the 1972 Easter invasion could find a place.
The problem is, of course, the emotional and political complexity. Too many people, particularly Americans, have strong feelings about that war. When they see ads on TV there would be shouting.
Here's an idea: how about a Korean War edition? Combat was relatively conventional and not too terribly different from WWII. Could be fun...

Nah that war is stupid, just a bunch of americans attacking a country that has nothing to do with them and they had no reason to go there in the first place

as long as the developers pulled it off well and it didn't offend any one i think a CoD game set in the vietnam war would be a good idea. if they did do it they should have 2 campaigns one from the american perspective and one from the vietnamease perspective.

haha keep the good ol' Vietnam era music in it (even if they are mostly anti-war) and it'd be sweet
I mean, sure it'd be kinda weird and hard to make that game, since most in real life and past attempts at the game gave a miserable experience
but to be on one of the helicopters flying into the jungle en masse...it'd be like the assault on the Gulag in MW2 only way more helicopters
and it'd last longer as you swoop in with the 7th cavalry enjoying your time and fearing the jungle...hmmm

if it got done right because I don`t want to play a game where you bomb the people who are don`t have any guns. Dont care who makes it though
