This could be a problem to many members of the community here who use XBOX live. I got a call from a friend about an hour ago, and he had heard of people giving random players on xbox live negative reviews. Hence, everyone who has reviewed me has given me a bad review saying i leave my games. I checked xbox.com and it said I was still 5 stars, but these negative reviews have been going on for a while, even though i only leave games due to lag. if anyone else has heard about this, post what you have heard on this thread.

It's just a negative review, it doesn't mean anything... I think I have something like 80% negative (still have 5 stars, that is based on just amount of reviews not whether they are good or bad) and it has absolutely no effect on, well anything. Generally people will give you a poor review if you piss them off. If it's because you quit, if it's because you killed them in a way they dislike, hell IF YOU BEAT THEM IN THE GAME people will bad rep you. Think nothing of it.

EDIT: Because I find this interesting, post what you've been bad rep'ed for:

Trash Talk: 9%
Language: 9%
Disruptive: 1%

Aggressive: 9%
Unsporting: 35%
Quit Early: 18%

I'm assuming that's from a mix of my Team Killing on Halo and BF and my 'grieving' on Gears.

This is not a new trend it has been going on for as long as I can remember. I currently have a high rating towards trash talk and unsporting conduct even though I only have my mic plugged in when I am in a party because I can't stand to listen to the immaturity.

The review system doesn't and has never meant anything on Xbox Live. Even if they give you a negative review, you can still go along with your day as if nothing happened. Its not like they're filing complaints against ya.

If your aware of how the report system works you'd also see that 90% of complaints filed against you are meaningless. Microsoft are really poor at policing their service (unless of course you swear in your bio. Then you're the devil).

Even if they didn't do anything "Illegal" if I don't like playing with them I avoid them, because then I don't have to play with them anymore! :D

I've been getting bad reviews for months now. They don't mean shit in the long run, it just means your chances of playing them again are a lot lower than usual.

And seeing as everyone else is doing it, here's my stats on my rep system.

35% preferred or did not submit a review.
65% avoided you.

Trash Talk: 0%
Language: 0%
Disruptive: 9% <-------- Funny as I don't use a mic outside of Party Chat with friends. :p

Aggressive: 0%
Unsporting: 45%
Quit Early: 18%

Not too bad. XD

I like to think I'm a cool guy to play with. You treat me like a fellow gamer but more over as a fellow person, and I have no reason to treat you otherwise (do unto others and all that, you know)? Start popping off at the mouth and it will be my personal mission to dish out the most monumental ass-whooping I can muster; I'm not one to trash-talk, so I make sure to pull out the Anti-Sage through my controller/arcade stick.

Like in Mortal Kombat/MK9. I love watching the salt fly when someone rage-quits and then gets mad at me for them fucking up. >:D

Observation: Hmm... it seems I have a 80/20 split between Unsporting and Quit Early, respectively. I don't see how I'm unsporting unless that falls under the gameplay complaint (seriously... who's idea was it to down-rate someone for being too good or not good enough at the game?!). And I'll admit that I'll only quit early if I'm at a massively unfair disadvantage, specifically if I fall victim to input lag but my opponent seems to suffer no such gameplay cripplers.

Yeah, you gotta understand people are never going to give you a positive review, most people on Live are a bunch of dicks, they don't mean much though and you'll be fine.

No, but I hardly ever play online. In fact the Mass Effect 3 demo was the first online multiplayer thing I've played in about a year.

So, I guess I don't get bad reviews because I barely exist on Xbox Live, is what I'm trying to say.

28% preferred, 72% avoided. I have 29 people on the friends list (automatic good feedback) and 3 years under my belt.

It is a naff system, as I'm sure many of you with Live have done, because if someone annoys you; you give a bad review. But since you're in the middle of the game you put them down for Trash. If you get beat fairly 5 times in a row and have pulled your hair out over it; you put them down as Unsporting as you don't want to admit they're better than you; and Lacking Skill/Too Good option doesn't do anything whereas Unsporting is reflected under the Rep percentages.

It also claims that you are less likely to be matched with people you give negative feedback too. This statement as far as I'm aware is total Bull*. I've had my friendly team on Halo 3 / CoD / BF lose a game to HLG wannabes / spawn campers etc. etc., where ALL of us back out, mark them down negatively then fire back up the multiplayer, only to be put right back into a lobby with them. It's a rally bad system and I just don't know who's fault it is; developers for not implementing it or Microsoft for still running with such a disused system.

It also a naff system where everyone over 3 months XBL has 5 stars rating even if you've got 99% negative feedback. I think it only take 5 reviews to to ping someone from the default 2.5* to 5* It also flops as reputation percentages never decrease. I went for 3 months without playing online and my rep stayed the same. This means 16 year old me, who got bored on CoD 4 and did some douchebaggy things, ended up receiving negative reports which are still reflected on 19 year old me. I don't even play like a douche any more (I'm intuitive and skilful enough enough to pull my weight and them some online) and I even call out on other peoples dirty shenanigans when I can. My bloody motto is "The Moral Guardian" as I refuse to spawn-kill or do anything sly to give my team the upper hand!

[HEADING=3]My current feedback[/HEADING]
9% Trash talk
6% Language
2% Disruptive
-----
10% Aggressive

All above is completely understandable. If you're playing like an absolute scumbag; expect a less-than friendly message from me at the end, even if I was on your team. I rarely give up intelligent insulting when the first response message back is something to do with my mum. I mean, c'mon, that's my mum you're talking about! She's not even here! As for getting a Life? I'm not the one on here being disruptive for selfish, low kicks. I've got a life, thanks, and I'm just on here to enjoy some friendly competitive multiplayer with the other 22 people you've pissed around; and I'm calling you out on it. Try insulting me personally next time, though I 'll give you a tip - have something worth insulting me over first, as groundless arguments are hard to win without being completely obnoxious and ignorant. Why am I bothering you? Because you quite unpleasantly bothered every single person in that game of 24/16/8/6/4/64/10 etc., minus yourself. So I'm going to ensure some man-made karma is headed your way.

44% Unsporting
5% Quit early

Unsporting? The only thing I ever do unsporting any more is ensuring the real scum in a match get what they deserve, but it's very rare I get over some kind of stick with a scumbag in-game, as I usually leave it until post-match and PMs. the worst I'll do is pilot a helicopter out of the map on BF3 with them in it or something (yes, I can fly - took it trough thet tunnels once on DVPeak; over enemy tank, capturing the middle flag and killing 2 enemies before flying out the other side). Same goes for Quit Early, I hardly do it unless the other team are total douche bags on Reach and I can't even get redemption let alone pull my own weight; or quits from my Halo 3 days. So why does that still linger around?

TL;DR - it's an entertainment post, read it for fun or don't read it at all. Basis is; Xbox player reviews are an inefficient service I would gladly do without, but would massively prefer it be much more stable, less clogged with lies and crap and because efficient and effective to use - with rating that can ACTUALLY be seen. Play like a douche, get several negative reviews, lose a quarter star for 3 months. Play well, encourage people to prefer, gain a quarter star.

If you play any competitive games only Xbox live you will get a bad review. People hardly ever bother preferring players but if they get annoyed then they will report you for anything.
Let's say you get a lucky grenade and kill them, they will be angry and probably report you at the end of the game.

It doesn't effect you in any way though. You can have every person who you meet avoid you and you will still have 5 stars, I have no idea how you actully make those go down.

To be fair though, you look at the numbers and it was only four people who disliked me. I'm guessing they're more genuine than anything. Hell, my poor connection pretty much cements my Quit Early stuff. Still, this information is worrying, I'll message my Xbox friends about it.

This is nothing new what so ever. Lots of people avoid people and give them negative reviews if they no longer wish to play with that person not that the matchmaking system helps from what I've seen on GFWL and XBL.

I've only ever had 2 negative reviews on XBox Live, both from the same session, both for unsporting. You want to know why they marked me down? Because I beat their friend and gave him a loss on his record. Ridiculous.

It's rather worthless, seeing as you can't see just how many people have reported you (as far as I am informed), so 39% of Unsporting Conduct might as well be from 3 people, rather than 300.000.

You have little to worry about.

I've been reported a lot for trash talking, which I find hilarious because I only use a mic when in a party with friends. Also have a significant portion from unsporting conduct, but I suspect (if you'll pardon my immodesty) that is from people I've beaten rather harshly and whom are angry. I don't ever team kill or use what are generally considered cheapt tactics, or anything like that, so it is the only conclusion I can come to.

If you play online fps games negative feedback is unavoidable, especially if you are good at the game. Its a flawed system, your better off paying no attention to it.

my stats:

Trash talk: 8%
Language: 2%
Disruptive: 2%

Aggressive: 8%
Unsporting: 45%
