Anyone ever seen the original 5 Halloween movies? Myers always wins. And as far as the sequel thing goes. Every sequel, he still wins . . . every time he "dies" he comes RIGHT back, a few times in the same movie.

Lord of War of course, but that's a given.

And let's not forget House of 1000 Corpses. Sure the ending forgot the base in reality the rest of the movie had, but when it got to that moment just before the credits, it remembered what it was trying to be.
FUCKING BRILLIANT

Well, we kind of all won in that scenario. . . although i did flip shit when
Dr. Manhattan blew Rorschach up
Oh god I know, that was the closest I ever came to crying over a comic.

yes
code geass ends with the villain winning and carrying on his master plan
the ending is still a happy one for it (given what that plan is)
the again, the villain is also the protagonist so...

The Godfather, I and II. Everyone's a bad guy in that.

Goodfellas too, the bad guy gets away with it all.

If we count Anime, let's not forget Kenshin . . . even after he kills off the man in bandages (forgive me for not remembering his name, it's been a few years) man wakes up in HELL and then not only is happy about it, but goes on to CONQUER it.

I had to reread and stare at those few panels just so I could comprehend what I had seen.

There's that one Roman Polanski film. Those who saw it know what I'm talking about. It felt like a punch in the gut watching it.

Not really a bad guy winning example, but there's an unexpected ending in The Break-Up, possibly one of the only films I've seen where they don't get back together.

I for one think that the bad guy winning is fairly refreshing, because right from the start in movies you can't really get worked up, because you basically KNOW the good guys are going to prevail.

That's debatable because
he went through the whole thing to stop the guy from giving a testimony. He tried to hide his identity and ended up with his mugshot taken. True, he didn't arrested but he still suffered a major blow.

What about if the main character is the bad guy? Then is it a bad movie is he/she, THE MAIN CHARACTER, wins?

Or is it if they're the antagonist?

Either way it's probably cool either way.
