Or to put it differently: are you going to try Diablo III again because of the expansion or are you not giving a damn anymore?

I am one of the few people that actually liked DIII despite it flaws. And some things people hate, I actually love. Most noteworthy is the skill mechanic. I understand you have a less personal hand in how to build your character. Meaning on lvl60 1 wizard is the same as the other wizard. That and no more intellect Barbarians. But on the other hand I like that I am able to try out all skills and mix and match as I please. The system was fun.

Anyhow, that was just one of many things. In the end I am willing to give DIII a second chance. So yes, I'll be checking out the expansion.

What about you?

I've actually gone back to Diablo 3 after playing Torchlight 2 and I've found that Hardcore monster level 10 keeps my interest quite well.

The Diablo III auction house has the strength to break any game or any expansion, however good they might be.

I could be tempted to buy and play, as I did the vanilla. As in as if it was just any regularly decent game out of many. But I didn't buy Starcraft, cause I didn't find it exceptionel, and Diablo III wasn't either. And why should I pay 60 Euro for a game that's at best 7-8/10, when games like XCOM, Civ V, Skyrim and Dragon Age:Origins and many many others are much better games that don't cost as much.

No Blizzard to me is all facade these days. Big cinematics, uninspired gameplay, and insultingly bad storytelling.

I'm honestly having great difficulty caring about any isometric ARPGs these days, even ones as polished as Diablo 3. I'm sure overhauling the terrible loot system would help the game play feel a little less pointless, but I doubt it'll get the overhaul it needs, and the game is priced way too high for what it is.

There was a reason to keep Starcraft II very similar to Starcraft...it was an esport. Balance was more important than creativity. Diablo needs a makeover. Badly.

Contrary to common perception, D3 is actually still very popular. ~1 million unique players a day, ~3 million unique players a month. So rest assured, you are one with the crowd.

Also, I'd expect the expansion to draw back a good chunk of those not playing, at least for a little bit. Not sure it'll motivate me to get the game, though.

Apples and oranges. Also, that statement can be said for pretty much all AAA games you don't like.

But since you brought it up... Do you like action RPGs at all? For me, I don't like sport and racing games much, so there is no way I am paying more than 10 Euro. While certain sport/racing games might be decent and worth 50 Euro for others.

Well, I never cared about the game to begin with!
I got into beta, and it was fucking horrible, so I never picked up the full game.

Played a bit the past few days after a year old break. Got boring after I once again realised it's all about the RMAH.
No, I don't think I'll bother with it. Fucking Activision.

I chose the first option because I am actually looking forward to playing this expansion.

This game has gotten so much hate on the gaming sites that I visit that it's unbelievable.

Personally I really enjoyed the story in general from all of Blizzard's games. Seeing and knowing quite in advance that Malthael will be the big baddie in Reaper of Souls I am very thrilled to hear that it's true.

With some improvements, the crusader(paladin) class being implemented, I am rather torn if I should continue the game with my Barbarian or start over with the crusader instead.

I am genuinely psyched for it.

I'm done with Diablo 3. Except for on Consoles. Four Player Local Coop is bound to be loads of fun, but as a PC game, no thanks. My laptop doesn't care for it, and my love affair with blizzard has definitely chilled out entirely.

I gave it a shot, since I got it free, and I loved 2.

Went with a party and beat the whole thing in 6 hours.

Well.....that was something. On to the next game!

Completely failed to hook me on either story, or difficulty.

I mean comeon! This is what went through my mind.

"Ah cool, I just beat the game! Lets do it again, only Harder!"
"Sweet, beat the game again. I could do it again only harder...eh ok"
"HmmI beat the game again....this is getting rather old....screw this. I allready know what happens"
How is this different from Diablo 2? If you dislike retrying on a harder difficulty, then you should have had the same issues with Diablo 2, no?

It seems with the expansion that their aim isn't to bring back players, just to retain the existing ones. It's their choice to do so, I guess you can make those sorts of choices when you have so much cash to burn.

So yeah, I chose 'the expansion changes nothing'.

Ive not had a real interest in diablo 3 since its release. I played the hell out of it and raged so much when my hardcore characters died from a rediculously laggy server.

I actually think they have made an interesting choice by reducing the amount of item drops considerbly and making them much more deadly but the TWO real core issues with Diablo is the Auction house and Items themselves.

Auction House Sure you can deny yourself the use of it, but then you come across players who do use it, kill all the mosters and fun for you with their overkill equipment and thus destroy any incentive for you to play.

Item Rarity- The fact that there are less common white items than there are blue and Unique items (watch the Recent Tube on Item Drops with the expansion) seems a huge issue and mistake for me. Its the simple reason to call them Common items or Unique items when white items are the 2nd least common item (legendary being the 1st). Its a irritating itch for me somthing that bugs me a lot for a guy who plays a tonne of rpgs and rpgs primarily have lore being the key ingredient.

Oh and a final note, the PC game inquisitor pretty much had every single thing perfect for an rpg with the stamina globe ect it just failed to deliver on the combat and a huge chunk of missing and simple fixes like unlocking doors/traps. If D3 got their hands on this game and remade it considering all the gothic/heaven hell stuff similar to diablo. I think it would be one of the best rpgs ever made, topping even the witcher and baldurs gate series.

I had a lot of gripes with the 'always online' aspect, but I enjoyed the game significantly. I'd even go so far as to say that I found it generally a more enjoyable experience than Diablo 2, a game which I played for endless hours years ago.

The only reason I stopped playing was because Inferno difficulty was a boring slog of slowly grinding down monsters with stupidly high amounts of health and dealt way too much damage. With characters that suddenly had 90% of their abilities rendered completely useless without the best gear. Pretty much the exact same experience of Diablo 2's highest difficulty, and the worst part of both games.

However, Blizzard seems to have done a significant amount of rebalancing since the game was released. I haven't gotten back into it for a significant amount of time lately, but from the bits I have played it seems like a much more enjoyable experience with a lot more freedom. I think the expansion will give me cause to dive back into it with new content to see. Especially since I'm super excited to have a Paladin-like character to play as!

I haven't played Diablo 3 in a while but I did highly enjoy it. I've no doubt that I'll snag the Xpack. Of course, I said that about Starcraft 2 and I don't have it's expansion yet. I've too many games backlogged and since I can't game more than an hour without being in pain, it makes it difficult to get through stuff in a timely manner.

Let's see. Does the game still require me to have a constant internet connection for no good reason whatsoever? Yes? Then there is no way in hell I'm picking it up.

Although, to be fair, these types if games don't interest me all that much, and the game is way too expensive for me to ever get it on a whim, and neither of those things are going to change with the addition of an expansion.

"for no good reason whatsoever" That's debatable. I am not a fan of always online. But with Diablo III I understand it. There is a strong multiplayer element (co-op) and then there is the auction house. In order to prevent cheaters/hackers the game has to be online.

Now, Blizzard could have made an offline version. But that version should never be allowed to have co-op (except for LAN) or have a connection to the auction house. This requires Blizzard to actually rewrite the game. As such it ain't so bad as, lets say, the always online of Ubisoft, which only adds shitty DRM and nothing else.

Having said that, I still blame Blizzard for the server overload the first week of launch. Damn, I saw that coming even before Diablo 1 was released. Didn't we have an open beta to prevent that?

Too busy enjoying Path of Exiles(which at least has a good reason to be online), Titan Quest, Marvel Heroes and Grim Dawn. Diablo 3 is just too inferior a product to even compare to all the better and less expensive ARPG options.
