If I said I hate Australia because they invaded China, then my opinion is wrong; that never happened (at least, I don't think it did...) and so my opinion is based on a false fact which in turn makes my opinion wrong.
I think that the facts you base your opinion on can be wrong but not your opinion.

I think it all comes down to what context you use the word "opinion" in.

Yes, if the facts they are based upon are wrong, they are inherently wrong.

Otherwise, they're just opinions. Right or wrong doesn't come into it.

Of course you have the right to say anything you can think of. But that doesn't mean you are right in saying, for example, you don't like bubblegum because it isn't digested by your body if you swallow it. Because this is an opinion based on flawed understanding, you are wrong. If I were to inform you, Snopes looked into this and it turns out that's an old wive's tale and gum is not actually resistant to stomach acid, you'd probably go "Wow, I was wrong all along", and you might begin to enjoy bubblegum, and the world gets a little more bright.

(The bubblegum is a metaphor.)

Opinions can be wrong, but that isn't to say that all opinions can't be taken seriously. If someone can back-up their claim with a solid argument, then I can accept that. But opinions with no evidence behind them except 'just because I said so' don't amount to much in my book. Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but only if they have a reason as to why they have that opinion in the first place. Otherwise it makes no sense.

Opinions themselves cannot be wrong.

They can however be based on incorrect arguments, misunderstandings, false assumptions, prejudice, hearsay, etc.

Also, many people use opinions in a wrong way, either by disguising misconceptions as opinions or stating opinions as facts. Which, coincidentally, is what a lot of people are doing in this thread.

Sure thay can. For instance: "It is my opinion that homeopathy is the best cure for diseases." It doesn't cure anyone, so clearly it isn't the best cure for diseases. Your opinion's wrong.

Most opinions are wrong, and you just don't take them seriously.
If someone said he suggests [A], then he'd need to prove, why should anyone do as he suggests. At this point, it is no longer an opinion. All the rest is opinion, thus subject to recycling.

Opinions can be wrong and it depends on how the opinion is formed and in what context it is used.

"Mr XYZ is a no for good, filth little JKL! That isn't alphabetist...It is just my opinion"

Usually a racial slur followed by, 'that is my opinion,' is just someone masking their racism.

Also opinions based on 'facts', I don't like the USA, it is well known that they blew up the moon..."

Facts could be wrong or misinformed etc, opinions should be subjective.

Opinions are based on subjective and personal thoughts, there are no place for objective thinking.

Opinions are not the sort of thing that can be wrong or right. But if people refuse to change their opinions in the face of evidence then their opinion is not really worth as much as they are working with some sort of bias.

In my opinion, opinions can be totally wrong. Now on the other hand, that's just my opinion. So that one could be wrong as well.

How philosophical ^^

Opinions cant neither be right nor wrong. Thats the whole deal with opinion. They are not facts that you can assign logical values to like 1 for truth 0 for lie.

Ofcourse there can be dumb opinions, racist opinions, odd opinions, but they are still opinions, things that tells you something about other person. Nothing more, nothing less.

I personally believe any opinion can be wrong, no matter how much the user declares it to be right. Also the said can be said of "the truth" as it has it's roots in personal opinion.
People in general as of late seem to (either intentionally or not) blur the line between opinion and fact as the former will always be subject to debate.
