Theres only one way Wolverine can die. As a fictional character he will 'die' when people forget about him, stop talking about or discussing or thinking about him. This thread therefore makes him immortal as long as it or any other wolverine fandom goes on.

However, In the sense of physical destruction I think its obvious that the recent trend in Wolverine storytelling is that he can recover from any physical attack. The best bet for destroying him would probably be some kind of high level psychic assault to destroy his mind and leave him a blubbering mush, or some kind of Manhattan-esque reality altering scenario, which is just silly because anyone should be mortal if the rules of reality can be re-written and are not an assumption.

There is also the option of erasing him from the importance of history by for instance, throwing him into a Star where he could not feasibly escape the gravity even if he could survive the inferno.

Someone would have to remove all of the adamantium from his skeleton, not just the skeleton from his body, then destroy every single cell. Then MAYBE he world die. No matter how hard you guys want this to be true, take it from the comic book geeks, wolverine can not be killed unless under the most ridiculous of circumstances. He's not only human. He's a f***king superhero. I'm sorry if that makes you feel angry, hurt or mislead, but I can't help it. It's just the way marvel wrote him. If you have a problem with that take it up with them.

Yes he can die, can't they just re-melt the adamantium? it would burn him to death from the inside, it also mentions in the movies that he can be killed by decapitation and by adamantium, but the flaw with the adamantium idea was that in xmen 2 and origins, he was stabbed by another adamantium mutant and it didn't work. There's also a flaw with wiping his memory, for him to regenerate exactly has he was before the cells would need to recreate them self exactly, so doesn't that mean technically his memory WOULD grow back?

A lot of people are suggesting destroy all his cells simotaniously, my question to this is, how is that possible? With the exculusion of Dr. Manhattan.

Oh yeah, and he can die of old age, which may seem a little contradictory but that is what will probably happen at the end of the Old Man Logan story line. I know weird right?

Nuke right under him would incinerate everything. Even if it doesn't destroy his metal, all of his living tissue would be eradicated instantly.

I'm getting tired of the argument. It's been done. He survived. End of story.

There was a comic where he was killed by a sentinel. All that was left of him was his skeleton. I dont know the name of the comic though.
I think that was Days of Future Past. Not 100% sure though. And yeah, Wolverine has died a few times. A better question is, who's harder to kill: Deadpool or Wolverine?

He can never die as long as he has the greatest power on his side... successful marketing. As long as his toys and games keep selling, he ain't going nowhere. Sure he may temporarily "die", but they'll bring him back through some hocus-pocus or bad writing :p

Yes. Magneto could rip him apart and stop his parts from getting close enough to each other to reform, possibly.

How about drowning?
Thats actually an interestingly realistic and simplistic option. His powers arent "magical" they are biological, so starving them of oxygen should disable their ability to regenerate causing standard brain death in 12 +/- minutes. The vacuum of space should also do the trick..

I know, I was recently (Like, 5 seconds ago) told by a friend that he did. Sorry.

At some point in time in one of 10000+ Marvel universes the adamantium in Wolverine's body is stripped out. Oddly enough he still possesses the claws but they're made of bone. One of Dr. X's methods for dealing with him involved severing his head and locking it up in a box for well...ever. I believe it is also stated that if the head were reunited with the body he'd be able to heal from that.

Wolverine's power itself isn't just a "Oh look I heal quick guys" it's a "Oh look I'm regenerating lost tissue from NOTHING." He wouldn't have survived having MOLTEN adamantium injected into his body if destroying his organs could kill him. That includes even the brain.

Therefore I doubt anything short of sending him into the heart of a star will kill him. Putting him through a black hole however may turn him into a time traveling god. \o/

Deadpool can't die... Ever. He has the same power of regeneration, but he's also immortal. So, yeah. Deadpool.

Plus, I'll say it even though I know I'm about to get fanboy raped, Deadpool is the more dynamic and interesting character. At least in his most recent story arc.

If we talk with true biology, yes. He can.

And he should have at the end of the movie when he was shot in the fucking brain.

Wolverine's ability is highly accelerated tissue regeneration. But, brain tissue does not regenerate, ever. Once your brain cells are dead, they're dead for good. So, all you would need to do would be one of three things:

A) Prevent him from breathing so oxygen doesn't get to his brain, i.e. drowning
B) Stop his heart for a certain amount of time, preventing blood from reaching his brain
C) Damage his brain with any outside force. Even if you don't crack his skull, hit it hard enough and his brain will turn to muk, and he'll die.

Oh, and just so people know, I love X-Men and although I think it was the worst X-Men movie out of the current generation of the, I enjoyed Origins. I just always get nit-picky about this stuff, even when I enjoy it.

Anyone can be killed. Except Doctor Manhattan, but he's pretty much a god so that doesn't count. But yes, Wolverine can be killed. Not even his fast healing ability will save him from a sniper shot to the head...
Pretty sure he got shot in the head point blank almost with a Magnum, and lived.
