I like to think I'm a master, but not good enough to be on top chef (yet). I have gone to cooking school for three years (next spring I'll be graduating with two associate?s degrees) and my best dishes may be stuffed mushrooms and chicken with tarragon sauce, baked potato, and seasoned broccoli

I'm a chef so I would hope so!!
Dito.
I quitted working full time as a chef about two years ago(due to an accident and shitty salaries while working like a madman), but I still do weekend shifts to stay trained.
And because I still love to cook.
And because a kitchen at home is never as awesome as a professional one.

Once, me and my brother managed to fuse a Mars Bar to a plate, i literally mean fused, it wouldn't bloody come off.

Another time we were making an omelet, we cut up the cheese/ham, anything else you we were gonna put into the omelet, went to put it in and realised we already cooked the damn thing, so we had a plain omelet and a bowl full of cut up cheese and ham. /facepalm

No, i can't cook, toast is hard enough.

After living first with 2 girls and later on my own for a year my cooking abilities are ever growing. Mostly ue to other people, however, since I'm perfectly happy with eating 6 meals over and over again.

Cooking for or with friends is way more fun than I ever thought it would be.

I urge everyone to learn it.

I am a grand master in the kitchen. I once made and served a five course dinner for 6 people by myself and I had spare time to be charming to boot. Once made nasi goreng with saté ajam and an Indonesian cucumber salad for 15 people with barely any help. I can make tapenade, hors d'oevres, ethnic food, hell you name it. One of the few things I'm quite arrogant about, actually. :D

Any recipe, any time. I make up my own dishes occasionally, not always to positive effect but sometimes they turn out great.

I don't consider myself a master because I'm no Bobby Flay, but I can whip up some damn good stuff.

My corn chowder is legendary.
No one is Bobby Flay, but Bobby Flay!

Me? I'm more like a short order cook in my house.

I am perfectly capable of cooking by following directions. When improvising a recipe I generally suceed more often than I fail. That said, I generally choose not to cook since I have the attention span of a squirrel on meth.

Notable success stories: Salmon Fajitas (the result was closer to a taco than a fajita but was excellent nonetheless), Moon Pies (I made the marshmellow myself, otherwise I'd be congratulating myself for making cookies), and Key Lime Pie (one of the easiset delicious things one can make).

Hilarious Failures: Not knowing that confectioner's sugar refered to a particular type of sugar and not a brand. It should be noted that while one CAN make tasty chocolate cake toping with plain sugar, the texture will roughly approximate muddy (but delicious) sand. Forgetting to set a timer and then forgetting about the cake altogether, only remembering it four hours later.

I like how the two top options are so completely apart from eachother, leaving nothing in between. You're either supposed to be a master, or able to make really basic food?

Well, golly gee, I'm between those two.
Should've read all the options then eh?
That's just "a fairly decent" cook. That's almost the same as the second from the top.

Oh, alright. I'll admit it, I missed that one, and it's probably the one closest to what I am.

No, not well. I can feed 2, 3 people? After that I need help. I'd like to learn to cook better though seeing as I like eating.

I can cook the easy stuff, but once we get into real food, I get lost fast.
