How about construct a city in the middle of the atlantic to act as the capital city of Earth. Completely separate from any other country in the world. It would also be where the olympics are held every 4 years, so no other countries have to waste money building or repairing old stadiums. All focus could be on the stadiums in the city. Only question would be, is if we would construct an actual land mass or have a floating city. Another possibility would perhaps be a submerged city at the bottom of the ocean.

As for an existing city, I would probably choose London.

But seriously, I don't think having any existing city as a capital of the entire world would be a very good idea. I mean, I doubt we could really do anything differently, and I think most likely candidate would be where the UN is right now (New York if anyone forgot). Ideally though, I think it'd be best if a new city was made that didn't have any specific national ties and would govern itself independently of the rest of the countries in the world. Perhaps some artificial floating landmass out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean or something.

it really doesnt matter though, a planet as big as ours, we'd need a seperate government for every continent at the very most anyway! but yeah, i gues it would help to have one organisation at the top

I voted New York, because that's where I'm pretty sure it would end up being. But it would be awesome if somebody built it in Australia. As an American who once went to Australia for a week, I can say Sydney tends to look a bit nicer than most American cities (or at least the ones I've been to). It's the kind of shining-example-of-a-pretty-skyline that we'd want to show aliens or the like. Furthermore, its between the current superpower - the United States - and what are generally given as the likely candidates for future superpowers - India, China, etc.

No North pole is like Latitude 90 and Longitude 00. I forget which lines go which way but one is maxed out at 90. Well at least I am fairly sure it is.

I could live with london. Or maybe Berlin. Both "central" and with a great infrastructure, several Airports and thanks to each other, a lot of vaults and bunkers.

New York, Tokyo, London, and Paris can be flooded way to easy if the sea level rises.

Beijing is smog city and everything is gray.

Moscow has utility issues and is rather frozen year round.

Brussels is ok but there is not much room to grow.

So I am going to say Dallas if a blizzard hits the rest of the planet is most likely frozen over. Not to motion its not right on a costliness so it wont sink if the sea levels go up and there is room to grow for what ever new buildings are needed.

Latitude 00 and Longitude 00 is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean, south of Ghana in west Africa. Heh...building a city there might be interesting.

I would say New York, since, if we're talking about a place with a great deal of diversity, that's a good representation of people around the world. Plus I'm American myself, and NYC is probably the most iconic American city.

Buuuut, I ultimately chose London because, in case you haven't noticed, America isn't too good with international relations, compared to Britain which is a relatively civil country.

I'd vote for Geneva because it'd be neutral ground and I don't think anybody could really object.

I say Berlin. It's the center of European business, and it's a cultural leader!

This. Or someplace in Europe, so Paris, Brussels, Zurich.

However, in all likelihood the world government will create a whole new city, with a new name and a new location.
