Poll: Capital City of Earth

Pretty sure the UN HQ would be in Geneva, but don't quote me on that, it's just an assumption.

There's several. One in Geneva, one in New York, Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), and Nairobi (Kenya).

The one in NY is the main HQ, the others are regional.

I should think it'd be a new construction in Switzerland or Denmark or Brussels somewhere like that. Something like the Ark from Brink would be awesome, though:

First thing that comes to mind on this is the UN HQ in NY, I mean shoot, why not start there since we already get everyone to come there, but, I hear Paris is nice this time of year.

Shanghai. 21 million people: a centre for world economy. Great public transport... 2 hours from where I live.

There's also that giant slum, the beggars and terrifying drivers. Well, that was my impression of it. Scary stuff at times. But the tourist areas are pretty.

I'd say it'd be wherever the guy in charge is from, or wherever the UN Headquarters are, then we don't need to build a new one.

Every mega-city (one of the cities with insane growth rate and population) has a giant ass slum somewhere. It's just a matter of finding it. Beggars come with slums.
The drivers are Chinese, but you get used to them (well, I take taxi's every day here so, yeah) as time goes by and you realise how lucky you are to be alive.

As for me? I'm doing great, china's not as bad as everyone says, the police don't even carry guns (in most areas of china, Tibet is a special case) so it's got a one up on America and Australia.

True, maybe our new unified planet will help stop the slums.

I don't think there would be a capital city of a United Earth, In my opinion that would just be a cause for more conflict.

I would expect the "unified Parliament" or whatever the leading body would be called. Would meet in set places kind of like the G8 Summit.

So every capital city would have a Unified parliament headquarters where they would host the representatives of each country etc etc

Officially: New York, as that's the bussiness center/crown jewel for the last superpower.

except that the American economy is in decline and the Chiness economy is rising. and it's not just the economic strength that is having this trend.

and this kind of scenario is just something I couldn't imagine if I put even an ounce of realism into the equation, it's just, urgh, I don't know...

Why, because New York has the UN building and is commonly considered the international governmental capital of the world, Brussels because the EU might take off and then the Earthen Union would be run from Brussels.. finally Beijing in China because they may yet decide to go mental and take over the world..

It's in New York. And that's why that should be the capitol. Not because it's in USA or anything, but just because it's the easiest.

It's in New York. And that's why that should be the capitol. Not because it's in USA or anything, but just because it's the easiest.

Maybe. But I'd rather the capitol be in a less dominant country (ie not USA, China, Russian Commonwealth etc). Although maybe we could make New York a city state ceceede it from the USA? That might work...

Can we not just build a new city at the South Pole? No one person or country could lay claim to it so therfore it really is a world capital. Yes im aware of the cold factor but im sure a united earth could provide all the reasourses and materials to overcome this.
