I feel that this image speaks far more than I could...

Dogs 4 Life! I suppose if I want the chores of owning an animal without getting the love in return, then I'll get a cat! Until that day, give me my puppy dog!

Bias poll is bias...

Cats don't even understand cause and effect [http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2009/jun/16/psychologist-test-outsmarts-cats], so they're not at as intelligent as cat owners imply ¬_¬

I'm ambivalent towards cats. I guess that mirrors how they appear to feel about...everything except for food and sleep.
Meanwhile, I love dogs. My beagle is my buddy and my wingdog.

Gotta agree with the OP, what dog can you do this with?

Except pugs of course, who shouldn't really count as dogs since they surpass regular dogs in every imaginable way:

All hail the pugs!

OP sounds like microsoft sam in my head.

OT: Dogs do indeed drool.

I live with three cats, and I love them all, but when I move out and if I want to find a pet of my own, I always thought I'd want a husky.

Or malamutes or whatever they're called.

Beautiful and playful to boot. Also, they're big dogs, which I prefer to smaller dogs. Big dogs don't have to tell you they're big, you can see that. Small dogs have to tell you they're big, and they'll tell you every chance they get.

In my experience, anyway.

I read in the style of William Shatner's James Kirk.... He paused a bit after words.

On topic....

We have 6 cats in the house so I have to say they are great. They belong to my wife but expect to sit on my knee while i'm trying use my PC .... it's very off putting.

Both are excellent animals, and frankly the poll is rather useless, because which of the two is "better" depends on what kind of relationship you're looking for.

There has been at least one dog and one cat in my household for most of my life, I wouldn't give any of them up.

I'm a dog person and while they may drool they are far more reliable. I have yet to have a dog callously claw my face to wake me because it was bored.

Yes. This did happen.

That being said, I do adore cats. I just like dogs better.

[sub][sub][sub][sub]Lack of spacebar makes me read all of those posts with a hesitation between each word.[/sub][/sub][/sub][/sub]

My dogs disagree with your disingenuous assertions!

So much better than those silly cats!

Well when it comes to violin strings, cats certainly do beat dogs :p

Dogs are like your good buddy who always wants to hamg out and do fun stuff, while cats are like the self involved pricks who only acknowledge you when you stroke their ego. What I'm trying to say is, screw cats, dogs forever.

(is what cats are)

Dogs are far more loyal than cats, cats think for themselves too much.

Counterargument:

That said, cats do have their uses...

In closing, I think everyone can tell which I side with in this conflict.

I'm.stunned.at.your.animosity!...Yes,.cats.do.tend.to.think.for.themselves..That.is.part.of.their.charm.

And.while.loyalty.may.be.what.you.prefer...I.personally.prefer.charm.over.slavish.devotion.

My cat troubleshoots his water fountain thingy whenever it stops working by opening it up, looking inside, and fiddling with it with his thumbless paw. He also operates the flow rate. My family didn't even know it had a flow control until the cat was caught playing with it. Unless my cat is just a small genius, then I believe your argument is invalid.
