Looking at that, I don't think you could do that without Spandex. Or body paint. I can't think of anything else form-fitting enough (latex and rubber are generally too stiff for that much form-fitting).

So yeah... spandex. Doesn't make for very good armor.

Armor. What you don't want if you're a cat burglar. Try sliding silently through a narrow gap or doing gymnastics in a kevlar bodysuit. Batman is different, he's going in expecting to be shot at and stabbed so he's willing to give up a fraction of his ninjalike mobility for protection,and has more R&D money than Selena Kyle ever will to get better gear. And in all previous incarnations, cat-woman wore either leather (terrible idea, Mr. Burton) or what looked in the comics and animated series to be spandex of various shades and designs. And why are we so confused? I may be one of the rare nerds to actually see a girl undress in person, but yeah stretchy fabrics tend to outline the buttcheeks.

Dude, the outfit (and to a certain extent the Catwoman herself) is meant to emphasize det ass and dem tits.

Also, as a male, I can testify to the extreme discomfort of wedgies. HOWEVER women do not need to worry about wedgies nearly as much because they don't have testicles. I doubt Catwoman is concerned about getting a wedgie.

Fine! If we're talking about the whole costume, she is very acrobatic and whatnot, so I assume it's just for easier movement. Though, as for the butt thing, I just assume that either sort of formed there over time or it's simply to make her look extra "smexy" and whatnot.

I haven't played the game just yet but from what I've seen Catwoman definitely has dat ass going on..but to the point, the costume is right in tune with the comics. Insanely tight-fitting clothing for everyone! Except Joker..please God no..

So I bought Arkham City today and while looking at the box art, I noticed that there is something very strange with Catwoman?s pants. They form fit her butt. Pants wouldn?t do that, not even latex or rubber, it would stretch flat across the peeks of the butt cheeks. In order to achieve the image the seat of the pants would have to be made from hand crafted and fitted hard leather, rubber, latex. Further it would probably end up being somewhat bulky.

So why someone who buy and pay for specially handcrafted weggy from hell escapes me. Though I would gladly volunteer to take the measurements.

I guess we can chalk this one to the sexualization of female characters. Not only did the cat suit need to be skin tight, but it must follow ever curve and be a very literal second skin.

P.S. If anyone ever needed a criteria to determine if someone was wearing a costume or merely had on body paint, it strikes me that seeing how it shaped around the butt would be a perfect telling factor. Though I cannot think of a reason you would ever need to make that distinction.

OP, I notice these things about female game character costumes ALL the time. The buttcrack-indentation-under-pants-regardless-of-pants-material thing is nothing new. In fact, it's a staple of female game character design. You'll find an option for it in any standard 3D modelling program, under Model > Mesh > Female Curves and then you adjust the Buttcrack Definition slider. It's real.

The target audience for this kind of design decision rarely pick up on how fundamentally arbitrary the relationship between physics, ladies' clothing, and ladies' body parts are in games. But you have. I am sincerely impressed and glad that at least one straight male in the world can acknowledge these things

This is a game with a guy who half his body is deformed to the extent that a normal person would not be able to survive, another guy who in the previous game was so horribly deformed that going back to his normal size and stature would also be impossible, and then there's bane.

So all of this is totally kosher, but Cat Woman's pants concern you? 0_o
