Where's your "When I just feel like dicking around" option?

I don't use chats though I occasionally use FAQs when I'm really fucking stuck on a very hard game, or perhaps to get that last unlock on a game I really love, but mostly only for the aforementioned dicking around.

What games have cheats these days on consoles? Grand Theft Auto is all I know of. I used those after I beat the game so I could take carmen on a date in my new helicopter. Then I jumped out of my side onto a skyscraper rooftop while the heli and carmen crashed and burned.

Well, if it's a strategy I like to use a trainer on my first play through to get a feel for all the things you can do in the game. For FPS's I usually use cheats on my second or more play through.

I shall not vote.

Simply because I'm not like 'OMDZ SECOND PLAYTHROUGH, IMMA CHEAT'

Thing is, I only cheat in games if it enhances the experience; games like Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row. Or I use cheats when I basically 100%ed a game of wanna have a laugh.

The important thing to realise is...the achievement/trophy revolution is nullifying the possibility of cheats on modern systems.

So mmh, that's what I think.

I haven't used cheats on a game form this generation, and I'm quite proud of myself for that. I have however used the rewards you get for completing the game (IE no reloading after you get 30/30 intel in CoD4). I dunno if people normally differentiate between the two, but I'm still quite proud of myself for it.

On my first play through I use FAQs and such as little as possible. Once in a great while I have to resort to using them, but it's usually because something isn't made very clear in the game and I have a headache.

I'm going to interpret "cheat" as "looking up a walkthrough", something I sometimes do on the second or later playthrough of a game. I'm currently playing through Tales of the Abyss using a guide, and holy hell does that game have a lot of things in it that you could not possibly figure out without one!

I'll tend to play a game through first without cheating (although these days so few games seem to have cheats), then if I play it a second time I don't mind putting in a code or two. Unless I get really stuck...

If checking for help online is cheating, I do that in absolutely ridiculous parts in games, such as chapter 5of the Witcher. How the fuck are you supposed the get through that without carrying every single fucking magic potion in the world with you? (for the record, that's what I ended up doing). Don't really use any codes or such.

I do sometimes use glitches and such to my advantage in multiplayer games, but usually just to counter other people doing the same (see MW2 suicidal javelin glitch. Thank god it got fixed).

I play through a game once without cheating and then after that I'll use cheats to increase the fun. I've played through Postal 2 multiple times and using the cheats always makes it better.

In fairly linear games (like FPSs) I usually play through the game once or more before turning on codes (If any)

In open world games (GTA, Siant's Row, RDR) if I get bored of the normal game, I save then turn off auto saves and turn on cheat codes. When Im done I simply load and turn auto saves back on.

Never on Multiplayer. Exploting glitches is unfair on those who dont know how to use them and Hacking is for people who cant win fair and square.

I use online guides when things get abit too intense or if Im doing a 100% playthrough.

If I end up spending to much time looking for a particular collectible I will often try to find a guide or video to tell me where it is, but I like to try on my own first. I used to use the appearance cheats for some older games as well, just because Big Head Mode in Goldeneye was quite humorous.

I tend to use cheats after I've run through it enough times to have completed it on the hardest difficulty with all available choices taken.

However, I also tend to only use cheats on games such as GTA where it is just so much fun to burn everything in sight with a flame thrower whilst having invulnerability so your fun isn't ruined prematurely
