Kids keep having sex younger and younger how do we solve this? Teach them how younger and younger... LOGIC!

facepalm...
Teen pregnancies are famously high in places where sex education is famously shit. America's Bible Belt is the definition of irony in that regard.

So yeah, logic.

I'm going to laugh if this ends up backfiring and in about 30 years there's suddenly a massive, uncontrollable outbreak of pedophiles.
... Because you remain attracted to people of the age you were when you learnt about sex? What?

Sex ed is one thing when they are of age but using as it as an excuse to push certain ideologies is not, which is what this looks like it may do.
I don't think that acknowledging gay people exist and shouldn't be bullied because of it is much of an agenda.

Don't these kids have any parents to teach them the basics about the birds and the bees and why mommy doesn't have a penis?
Seriously? That's just confusing. How would the birds and the bees even do it when one of them might sting the other and then it would hurt?

And I knew from a young age why mommy didn't have a penis. Before daddy ordered her on the internet, she had an operation to have it removed.

Meh, check his other posts - I'm assuming that by agenda he means feminism, and by feminism he means the ultimate destruction of humanity.

Heh, so the problem is that they'll have to acknowledge women exist?

I think the problem is less to do with acknowledging the existence of women and more to do with the way that sex ed treats them as if they're equal to men rather than housebroken animals good only for feeding and fucking.

Clearly this is a feminazi ploy.

Sex ed in kindergarten... What's next, let's give sex ed while the baby is still unborn?

This is ludicrous and can bring no good whatsoever. kids at that age aren't smart enough to truly understand what will be taught to them and sex ed might just make them curious...

He knows better now though.

Depends on how they do it.

To be exact, if they should be doing it like this:

Under the new policy, the youngest students - the kindergartners - will learn the basics about anatomy, reproduction, healthy relationships and personal safety.
Well, this is the key part. Can't say I see anything wrong here, they're only teaching the kindergarteners about the tamer stuff that any kid should know, they'll save the explicit parts for when they're older.
I understand that they probably want to cut down on teen pregnancy but what do they mean by healthy relationships? Ones between men and women or mainly don't abuse/assault one another They might have issues on how they plan to answer gay relationships either by not mentioning them, mentioning them from the start or even avoiding the topic if brought up by a student or going into it if brought up by a student.

If someone was gonna ask why I thought a 5-year old would ask something like that it might be because their parents are gay or otherwise open relative or family friend is or etc.

please tell me they're going to have a gay guy and his slave boy friend teach them, that would just be perfect.

anyway seriously, this is exactly like that one episode in south park when they have sex education as the subject, it was hilarious and told us one very important thing, sex Ed in kindergarten is really silly.

especially if you have a gay guy doing the teaching, no really that was funny to me.

and now I am wondering if the person proposing this is some old lady with tits hanging about a meter.

I guess it depends on whats taught and how it is taught. Important things would be health, protection, emotional issues and relationships. Also respect for opposite sex, and self respect for ones own body. These are all important but when to teach them is difficult. Maybe its easier to teach parents to teach there own kids.

Why? Wouldn't it be best to start at puberty? Why does a six year old need to know how a vagina works when their's isn't even anywhere close to functioning yet? It just seems like a waste of time honestly.
Well, children folk are being sexually active younger and younger, better to teach them a bit younger before they do become active with one another. Or the programs could remain the same and the kids start experimenting before they are told the consequences and what not of their actions.
Before fifth grade? Really? What do you expect them to do with each other before then? It's not like an innocent game of doctor is going to lead to much of anything.
Considering 10% of sixth graders are sexually active...

Old report, but I am having a hard time finding a newer one
Which is why they're normally taught this stuff in fifth grade.

Might work out well. Just have to take care when talking about it, but it's better than pretending it don't exist. I didn't like being lied to as a kid.

...There are a surprising number of people (pretty much any number > 0) here who think that they're just going to move the 5th grade (6th in my school district) stuff down to kindergarten verbatim. And that sex ed == classes on how best to have sex. For starters, I'm pretty sure they're going to do what they said in the article, not copy-paste 5th grade level stuff onto kindergartners. Also, I'm pretty sure sex ed still involves no actual sex having or watching.

OT: So... why not? Why do we need some arbitrary age barrier on what we learn? I get not teaching calculus before algebra, but to learn sex ed, I think the only pre-req is having a human body (or knowing someone with one).

Wasn't there a Southpark episode where this happens? I don't think it ended well.
That was mostly about how they went overboard by teaching them actual sex positions and how sex-ed teachers are usually bad teachers overall, it wasn't really saying teaching kindergarten kids basic things is bad.

This, this.

It's not like they're explaining the ins and outs of sex to the kids in kindergarten or encouraging it. They're just making them aware of the biology of it. When they're a bit older they'll deal with contraception and STDs. It sounds like they're young but, as horrifying as it is, kids as young as nine are having sex. At least this way you're protecting them physically.

If they're aware of sex from a young age, hopefully they'll grow up with a healthy attitude towards sex and know that it's not something you should do until they're ready. Kids are going to find out about it anyway, at least hearing it from school will give them the facts.
I actually remember in one of the Escapist podcast, where they were talking about what you get banded for and what not, and they were talking about some parents who call up sometimes and ask why their kids got banded.

One time apparently a nine year old girl's parents called up the Escapist to ask why their kid got kick off, and it turned out it was because of cyber sex. Apparently a lot of cyber sex. I can't remember who but one of the Podcat's members was the one who had to tell the parent about their kids behavior when they asked.

0_o I don't envy having to do that.

As for the eduaction thing, like others have been saying, it's mostly just for safety from things like "bad touch" and what not.
Nothing to really worry about.

You forget that in South Park it was silly because they were teaching the kids about STDs and condoms.

In the real world they just teach them the basic junk, and try to get them to understand "bad touch".

Though it has be soon that they don't always "get" the idea of those things anyway until later, but not telling them anything definitely won't help them.

Captcha: do you do your own gardenting?

......Hmmmm....I want to make a joke about that, but it's just too easy so I won't.....
