Relevant Info: On the opposite end of the spectrum, in Tennessee, they tried (still are trying, but it probably won't pass) to pass a "Don't Say Gay" bill that would fire any teacher who mentioned anything about homosexuality, and was almost expanded to include anything about sex, period. If any place needs this education, it's there.

This should be good for them.

Even after "sex ed" in 6th grade, I didn't learn anything. I had to learn with porn.

The sex ed i had in high school dealt with concepts that were well beyond the grasp of a 5 year old.. seems like a waste of time. We could start teaching them calculus at 5 too, but itd be an equally big waste of time if theyre going to retain literally none of it.

Im assuming their version will just be dont say girls or boys have kooties because they dont; maybe something as advanced as this is why girls and boys are different.. so yah a fantastic waste of time and money.

Especially if you compare it so something else like say learning a 2nd language, or grade school math prep. Teaching 5 year olds sex ed en lieu of academics seems like youre acknowledging that you dont expect them to amount to anything more than making babies and menial labour.

Myself and many of my friends got abysmal sex ed in schools, and my lord, it showed. Perhaps that's a bit early, but there should be much more emphasis on it.

Based on my experience in sex ed I have to say no. The class was nothing but scare tactics about std's, incompetent and unscientific condom studies, and the joy of abstinence; all designed to make children feel ashamed of their bodies. I have no problem with my hypothetical children learning about sex, but when the schools do try to tell them that sex is dirty and evil I want them to be old enough to stand up in class and say, "That is bullshit."

Edit: I've been reading the comments and I'm thinking: am I the only person who new everything before sex ed or porn? It always makes me laugh when people talk about porn and say, "It's only natural for you to be curious." I'm not curious; I'm horny.
