I read an interesting article comparing the health care systems of the UK, France, America and Singapore [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8201711.stm]

I found it an interesting read.

Having read it I think I'd quite like the French system, along with their more public holidays and shorter working week. It seems to be getting great results for a similar price to the UK system.

Which system would you prefer and why?

Was anyone else disgusted that 1 in 3 Hispanics and 1 in 5 blacks have no health cover in the US? So much for equality.

Canada? what? I have never heard of this place(joke:p)
I think it's that funny hat that America wears.

Also, I picked the UK's system, it seems pretty good but being in the US I haven't actually lived under anything other than a private health insurer and since my parents take care of the bills I have no idea how expensive it is compared what the UK has.

Having a universal heath system means that you don't die because you're out of work, or poor. To me the American system is a very poor way to do things.

I didn't vote, still waiting for Canada lol
Well if you read the article, Canada's system is quite similar to France's.Only difference is that we don't need to pay upfront and get reimbursed, but only pay the deductible upfront and the hospital gets their money directly from the government (it's like that in QC anyways, i assume it's the same in other provinces...)

I choose the UK, becuase the costs are included in my taxes, and don't have to worry about medical bills (most of the time)

Canada. It worked the last two times I broke my arm, and when I had that stomach virus.

Out of the two that I know about I'd have to say that the US system is great if you have smegtons of cash...But if you are a member of the 90% or so of the population who can't wallpaper their own walls with money, I'd choose the UK option.

Mexico is the stinky feet? We don't have legs I guess. And a distorted part of our ass on our head.

And don't get me started on South America.

France. If I'm informed correctly, it's the same we got in Germany and I'm very happy with that one. Well, most of the time.

The healthcare system here in America is one of the things I find most dissappointing about my own country. I would absolutely love to have some form of socialized healthcare, because I am absolutely certain that my private healthcare provider would happily screw me over given the chance. Unfortunately, people here tend to get their news from Glen Beck and the crazy town brigade to the point that 45% of Americans at least claim to believe the death pannel bullshit might not just be a crazy theory made up by someone with extreme mental deficiency. That's depressing, Public Option isn't anywhere near as good as Universal Healthcare, but it's a hell of a lot better than what we've got now. Especially considering that the Healthcare industry is one of the four industries most heavily invaded by organized crime (the others being Cartage, Food, and Construction), I don't want the healthcare I need paying for organized crime.

It is sad to me to think that some people think that someone should HAVE to pay for necessary medical coverage. I was taught as a child that Americans were guaranteed "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." Needless to say, Americans who can't afford healthcare, aren't actually guaranteed life, and without life, it's difficult for them to have liberty or happiness either.

I like our UK healthcare system - I'd have to pay about £150 for my glasses if it wasn't for the NHS.

I picked the US, namely because I resent being forced to pay for something and having no choice in the matter, a la UK. Plus the current system with the NHS is becoming dangerously unsustainable and will be in need of major reform before long.
