Well, time for another dilemma, folks! How do you feel about circumcision? Is it good? Bad? Should it be legal? No? Yes?

Personally, i think i´ll weigh the pros and cons against eachother.

PROS:

Easier to clean.
Lasts longer (during sex)
Reduces risks of some diseases.

CONS:

Loss of about 40-50% pleasure during sex.
More prone to certain diseases.

Now i don´t know about you, but i think we can call this a 50/50 descision, right? It all comes down to what matters the most for you.

But the thing is, that PARENTS can make the descision in many countries, which i think is abhorrent and simply put, wrong, since the practice is irreversible. And if you say "Oh but it can be restored" no, it can´t, not entirely. It can be HEALED, but not restored.

Circumcision is only valid for ONE reason before one hits maturity, and that is a medical condition where the foreskin is to tight around the penis and must be loosened up.

So, my opinion is: If you´re an adult and want to, then fine, good for you. If you´re an adult and you´re about to circumcise a kid, screw you.

What about you?

BONUS DISCUSSION: I find it quite amusing how many people there is that say: "Male circumcision is fine, but Female circumcision is EVUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLLL!" I want to ask them a question. Do you believe in equality towards both genders? If yes, shouldn´t male/Female circumcision be just as bad/good as the other?

(For the record, i am aware that female circumcision has MUCH more severe consequences, and i believe it is just as wrong as male circumcision, but this just bugs me. Why scream out for equality when you don´t want it?)

I think its wrong. If someone wants to do it later in life, go nuts. But when some-ones just been born I don't think we should just start hacking things off.

And I don't think it would reduce chances of disease to be honest (unless you have a source of course, if so please link).

And to be honest there's not much point to longer lasting sex if it doesn't feel as good. Surely one really good cookie beats two sorta all right cookies. I haven't heard any evidence of a foreskin contributing to sexual activity in anyway, just going by the OP.

I never understood the argument of "It's easier to clean".
It's not that difficult to take a shower and focus a bit more attention to your wang if you're uncircumcised and need to clean it.

But anyway, my opinion on it is more or less word for word the same as yours, you can do what you want as an adult, but if you're circumcising a kid and there isn't a VALID, medical reason for it, then go fuck yourself.

I agree with the current circumcision laws. I was circumcised at age 14 after a long string of medical issues. It sucked. So, when/if my kids are born, I'm going to be really pushy when the subject comes up, because I'd rather not run the risk of the same happening to them

I'd go into more detail, but the last time this topic came up you'd swear I was saying that Hitler had the right idea with how much hate I got.

I think it should be fully legal. I think it's a bit unfair to circumcise your child for purely aesthetic reasons but I still think it should be fully legal.

I was circumcised when I was 6 (On my 6th birthday, of all days).

It was for a medical reason that I am still unaware of.

The pros you listed are part and parcel. Definitely makes things easier.

Considering my age when it happened, I don't really miss that "40-50%" because i've never known otherwise, and if i;m careful and hygienic, then diseases won't be such a worry.

Medical or religious, there's no real reason to stop the practice of circumcision.

Female circumcision is considered evil because it removes the woman ability to orgasm. (I think... don't quote me there)

It kind of makes me think of cropping dogs ears or docking their tails. It's cosmetic but it can help with certain medical issues in certain breeds.

Anyhoo it's fine how it is. My oldest brother had issues when he was like 4 or 5 and because of if my parents opted to have circumcision on all their other sons. Except my 2nd oldest brother cuz he was about 2 or 3 when this all happened.

It's kind of disturbing that I know the condition of all my brother's penises.

I had it done at a young age for medical reasons and to be honest it's never really bothered me and no-ones given me any stick for it. Don't really think it impairs you in any considerable way and also, less pleasure during sex, really?

If by cicumcision you refer to both male and female genital mutalation I completly agree there is no social or religious reason for chopping off key pleasure receptors that can stand up too the right of the child to have fully functioning sexual organs. I was medically circumsised as a baby and even that reason has left me angry (and as a child confused as to why my willy was so different to the other boys and men in my life) at not having the choice to decide for myself.

What is a circumcision?

I may sound like a fool, but I was never told, and I'm afraid to look it up.

I think it's wrong. My dick is barely sensitive at all. I probably cum during sex 1/5 times before my gf is done and I gotta wank it - and that's without a condom. I've cum inside a condom once during sex that I can think of. Seriously, it's bullshit. I wish it was more sensitive. But no, I had the tip of my penis cut when I was born because my family is Catholic.

I can tell you I'm not circumsizing my children. Teach them to clean it out and it's all good.

Two words: Penile cancer.

The risk is about double if you're uncircumcised. Uncircumcised men are also much more prone to urinary tract infections and multiple STD's.

I also have to disagree with the 'cons' list above. Loss of 50% of sexual pleasure? Where does that come from? I'm unaware of any reliable source that claims male circumcision makes sex less pleasurable. I'm also unaware of any studies showing an increased risk of ANY disease after circumcision. This is why the comparison between male and female circumcision makes no sense to me. There are real, serious, provable costs to female circumcision. There are none that I know of for men. Circumcision has real advantages (how important they are may be debatable, but they're there) and I don't see any costs.

Bottom line, a foreskin doesn't do you any good, a clitoris does.

Don´t worry, wikipedia´s got your back! =)

Male circumcision is the removal of some or all of the foreskin (prepuce) from the penis.[1] The word "circumcision" comes from Latin circum (meaning "around") and cædere (meaning "to cut"). Early depictions of circumcision are found in cave paintings and Ancient Egyptian tombs, though some pictures are open to interpretation.[2][3][4] Religious male circumcision is considered a commandment from God in Judaism.[5][6] In Islam, though not discussed in the Qur'an, male circumcision is widely practised and most often considered to be a sunnah.[7] It is also customary in some Christian churches in Africa, including some Oriental Orthodox Churches.[8] According to the World Health Organization (WHO), global estimates suggest that 30% of males are circumcised, of whom 68% are Muslim.[9] The prevalence of circumcision varies mostly with religious affiliation, and sometimes culture. Most circumcisions are performed during adolescence for cultural or religious reasons;[10] in some countries they are more commonly performed during infancy.[9]

There is controversy regarding circumcision. Arguments that have been raised in favour of circumcision include that it provides important health advantages which outweigh the risks, has no substantial effects on sexual function, has a low complication rate when carried out by an experienced physician, and is best performed during the neonatal period.[11] Those raised in opposition to circumcision include that it adversely affects penile function and sexual pleasure, is justified only by medical myths, is extremely painful, and is a violation of human rights.[12]

The American Medical Association report of 1999, which was "?confined to circumcisions that are not performed for ritualistic or religious purposes," states that "Virtually all current policy statements from specialty societies and medical organizations do not recommend routine neonatal circumcision, and support the provision of accurate and unbiased information to parents to inform their choice."[13]

The World Health Organization (WHO; 2007), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS; 2007), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC; 2008) state that evidence indicates male circumcision significantly reduces the risk of HIV acquisition by men during penile-vaginal sex, but also state that circumcision only provides partial protection and should not replace other interventions to prevent transmission of HIV.[14][15]

Hope that helped!

I've never really understood it. Not being male, I can't judge, but from what I've heard the hygiene and health benefits are really minimal. As for lasting longer during sex, that seems like a horrible phrase to disguise that fact that an area responsible for a lot of sexual pleasure has just been removed for no real reason.

The difference between male and female circumcision doesn't really have much to do with gender equality, it has more to do with the procedure itself. I'm not really in a position to judge whether having your clitoris removed if female has the same negative effect on sexual pleasure as having your foreskin removed as a male, but the clitoris is the female equivalent of the head of the penis. I don't think anyone would be too keen about removing that. Notwithstanding the clitoris/foreskin comparison, a lot of female circumcision practiced goes beyond just removing the clitoris but also removes much or all of the labia. In some cultures, female genital mutilation goes so far as to sew the vagina shut so that the girl, who is often seven or eight at the time of the procedure, has literally no choice but to remain a virgin as far as vaginal sex is concerned until marriage. Which is probably why people make a bit more of a fuss about female circumcision.

There might well be equally horrific 'circumcision' rituals carried out on young boys in the world somewhere, if that's how you like your 'gender equality'.

Babies and young kids should only be circumcised if medically necessary. In any other case, it should be left up to the individual in question, for when they're at a suitable age to make that decision.

The mutilation of, often a baby or a childs, gentalia by removing the foreskin of a male, or the labia minor, clitoriouse and labia major with only a a tiny hole left for for urine and mensturation on a woman.

If you want to do it to yourself as an adult go right ahead, but when it isn't necessarily it shouldn't be done to kids just because puritans in your country said it would be a good idea many years ago. Circumcision is so popular in American in part due people like John Harvey Kellogg (the guy who created corn flakes) saying it would stop boys from masturbating.

There is absolutely no benefit to it, the cleanliness thing is total bullshit. If I cut off your arm you wouldn't have to worry about cleaning that either.
