Civ IV is TBS, however I much prefer it over Empire Earth, especially number 3, that was terrible, I think Civ games are generally better than empire Earth

Well, each Civ takes a turn one at a time. It's a leisurely game where you can take your time and get up and grab a cup of coffee anytime you want. I actually just got done playing it a minute ago, coincidentally. It's great fun.

EDIT: Ah, I see you edited it now. In which case, I'm going to vote for Civ IV.

No comparison between them. Civ is like cocaine, Empire earth is like flour. Yes, they are both white powder, yes, you can snort both of them, and yes, they are both good in their own way. Both only one of them will have you up at 4 in the morning asking for more......

Civ is a 4x game (eXplore, eXpand, eXploit and eXterminate).
Empire Earth on the other hand, is your typical RTS and also, is a crappy game (According to reviews).

Now now, if you want a 4X - RTS hybrid. Sins of a solar empire might suit you. Although, CIV was one of the game I played during my childhood that, I really got addicted to, so I still have a soft side for it (can be helpful, if you plan to be a closet world leader).

Problem with Empire Earth is it's too hectic. It'd make a great TBS.

Personal preference with this dictates get EE1 as it's an awesome game.

But to answer your question: I think Civ is a better game, it's more preference i'm sure, as I like TBS more then RTS.

While as an overall game I'll suggest that Civ4 is better, my preference is Empire Earth 2. I prefer RTS games over TBS games.
