Battlefield 3. I don't think I need to justify myself, or mindlessly insult successful franchises. I'm sure both of them with be good games in their own rights.
/this.

I am still under the impression that these games should not be competing.
And if Battlefield makes itself too much like COD I will loose massive respect for the series.

Well, I don't really know much about mw3 so right now battlefield 3 looks better to me. Maybe my opinion will change as more information is revealed.

Since I hate the CoD franchise and boycot it after MW1, obviously Battlefield 3. But I don't need another grey/brown FPS shooter. I am good with Gears of War 3 by the time being, unless the Retro Lancer + Sawn Off are going to annoy me by a landslide.
Battlefeild 3 has a very blue feel to its presentation

I've waited a long time for a return to Battlefield, proper. Only recently picked up Bad Company 2, and that has only increased my enthusiasm for more of the amazing times I had while playing BF2 so many years ago

Unless MW3 is some kind of action adventure like thing, I choose Battlefield 3 without hesitation.

where's the option for BOTH? I don't care which one is better, as long as I can enjoy them, and then give my opinion after a few hundred hours of game time.

Uh, do you mean CoD MW3? Cuz CoD 3 has been out for like 5 years.
OT: Definitely BF3, I've been waiting on that for a good long while.
This. Call of Duty, while an OK game series, is either just wildly frustrating or gets boring very quickly. Frankly, I'm kind of tired of it. Bad Company 2 was awesome, though, and provided Battlefield 3 actually SHOWS ME HOW TO FLY THE DAMN HELICOPTER, I'll love it.

Also, vs. threads are kind of frowned upon on this site.
My girlfriend's reaction to the helicopter: "Wow, flying this is har-OH GOD! *CRASH*"
My reaction: *after laughing my ass off* "Here, let me show you- *CRASH* Well, fuck."

Battlefield 3 all the way, Thing is I have less faith in having three studios working to make Modern Warfare 3, especially on Sledgehammer... I dont think they have made ANY games yet, which worries me.

I'll probably enjoy the story of MW3 more, but I know so little details about either that I can't really tell.

Battlefield 3 looks fucking fantastic, though.

Emphasis on "looks".

I vowed Black Ops would be the last COD I buy, considering I haven't even played that since December, it looks like im on track to keep my vow. It is even easier considering the leak of MW3 info. Man they are really just treading the same water now, like REALLY treading the same water.

Battlefield looks genuinely amazing, I wasn't the biggest Bad Company 2 fan but it still looks interesting. I am pretty much gone sour on online fps games but this one looks pretty awesome so I can break face for a month and really test it out.

I'll probably be obtaining both.

Which will be better? I dunno. Guess we'll find out later this year.

Battlefield 3 for a couple of reasons:

- It's the highly anticipated sequel to what is arguably the best 'realistic' FPS title this decade.

- Black Ops has left plenty of fans* of the CoD series feeling rather unhappy with the poor handling of that games buggy release and how long it took for them to fix the issues, some of which still plague a small portion of the playerbase.

[small]* I should clarify that when I say 'plenty of fans' I mean plenty of the fans i've met.[/small]

Will be getting BF3 on release, not out of spite for CoD, but because I love that series. Which isn't to say I won't be getting MW3 at some point, but it can wait. The MW's were really the only CoD I have liked, and as unbalanced and horribly ported to PC as the last one was, it was still pretty fun, so I still owe it to myself to atleast check it out. And them incorporating elements from Battlefield is not a bad thing, though since BF is a bit slower paced than CoD, with more emphasis on actual team work, really not sure mixing the two is a great idea.....

they pump out COD games every year and they havent changed in a long time. BF3 has been in the works for a while now and looks amazing and appeals a lot more to the PC guys like myself. BF3 will have better gameplay. MW3 will still sell just b/c it always does and little 12 year olds love it.

tldr: BF3 > MW3

Wow. And I thought my friend was just patronizing me when he said that I have the magic touch, since in both Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2, first time I got in a helicopter, I flew perfectly. On both games.

On topic, I don't know which I'll get. Since I like playing CoD's singleplayer, and singleplayer-like modes (Nazi zombies, Spec Ops, etc.), and then playing multiplayer with a bunch of random twats, and trying to have fun. Or, at least, that's what I do with the more modern CoDs. Back in the days of CoD4 (And continuing to this day, actually.), I simply played on two servers. Both hosted by the SAB (Stealth Assassin Brotherhood. Silly name, yes, but very good hosts.), one a bolt-action-only (With C4, all grenades, knives, and all killstreaks allowed (But the heli is modded so it only fires missiles. And yes, occasionally that still kills people. (And, in fact, I was once on a running riot, and my helicopter blew ME up....))), and one simply Free For All, but within some limits (No Last Stand, Martyrdom (The perk, that is. Heh heh...), cheats, glitches that give you an unfair advantage, etc.).

But Battlefield I love playing with my best and only friend. Actually, I might end up with both. MW3 I buy myself, and Battlefield 3 my mate buys me, so we can go army of two on those unorganized prats, like we do in Battlefield 2 against bots, and Bad Company 2 against players.

BF3 all the way :D

Loved BF2, and BC2 gave more of the same (though it missed a couple bits out, but happily replaced them with destructable terrain), so looking forward to BF3 that will be the best of both (all being well).

I enjoyed COD4, but found the mp dull, and never bothered getting MW2 (from what I saw from mates it was pretty meh, just more of the same, but with greater balance issues).

While I agree they can be hard to fly (I can keep em in the air, but can't really kill folks with them), some people are born naturals at flying... look how well my friend here flies with mouse and keyboard controls!

He was flying so well I desided to help him with a friendly "nudge" :)

I'm going to say battlefield 3 for the fact that I harbor a lot less disdain for the corporation that is pushing it and because battlefield games have almost ALWAYS been a shit-ton more entertaining than any COD that has been released.
