If I really like a game, I get the special one (or if the price doesn't really differ much)

I've got Limited/Collector's/Special Editions of:
Assassin's Creed 2
Final Fantasy XIII
Red Dead Redemption
InFamous (this one was actually cheaper than the normal version. Go figure)
Just Cause 2
Half-Life 2
And a couple more on pre-order.

it depends, especially how much money i have on me at the time. there are some games that i will, and have for, like im honestly thinking about doing it for fable III but not too sure yet, as i really enjoy those games and getting that litle bit extra for that extra money is a nice treat =]

for those people that do do it, more power to you, if not, its understandable, and about 90% of games i do it for.

I think that if I buy a game that is truly rich in gameplay, story, and characters, it is worth spending a little extra on something to expand that world, like an artbook, of environments or character concepts. Posters are nice too. The most recent one I bought was Bioshock 2's. It was brilliant value for money; only £25!
Did you buy it from Play? I jst bought it a few months ago, and it was insane value for money. The Art book and Vinyl should have been worth £25 by themselves.
No, it was from Blockbuster. Have you got a UV light? There are a few secrets in this edition, (although I don't know how many people know about it.) I agree with the quality; an artbook over 150 pages deserves that amount of money alone. Plus the vinyl, posters and beautiful hard-box.
Ohh, fair enough.

Hmm, I don't sadly. Are these secrets in the manual or something?
I found some on the posters. In the one with Sinclair, Andrew, and another woman, (seriously, who is that?) in UV ink a circle is drawn over Ryan, with the words, "where is Lamb?" There are a few others as well, but I don't have a UV light. I borrowed one off my brother.

I have the collector's editions of Warhammer: Mark of Chaos and Age of Empires III from years ago. It's a shame because they were both games I never played much.
The AoE III Collectors edition was awesome! Personally I love collectors editions and normally buy them if budget and/or space allow.

I found some on the posters. For example, the, "Rapture: the best and brightest," poster, had in UV ink a circle above Ryan's head, with the words, "where's lamb?" I think there are a few in the artbook, but I had to borrow my brothers UV light, and as a result didn't have much time with it.

I get the Limited/Collector's edition of things if I have enough money, which I normally do.

These are the one's I can remember.

Splinter Cell: Conviction
Mass Effect 2
Red Dead Redemption
Assassin's Creed 2
Just Cause 2
Dead Rising 2
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Metro 2033
Far Cry 2 (sold)
Halo ODST

And.... FALLOUT NEW VEGAS COLLECTOR'S EDITION! Not out yet of course, but I have it on pre-order. Can't wait.

Did you notice the diagram at the back of the artbook which claimed that the 4[sup]th[/sup] and 5[sup]th[/sup] games would be set in modern times and the future?

It makes me sad...

I try to be logical when I see them, stuff like lunch boxes, helmets, little display items, or cool knick knacks seem great, but will just end up on my shelf. The only one that I ever really was interested in was Gears 2 for the Cog tags, but I never got it.

I actually have only bought one collectors edition, Spore. And that's because it was thirty bucks, great game, wish my computer could let me play it :(

If they have an artbook I'll usually get it, But only if i really love the game series. Currently i own the Metal gear solid 4 CE, Mass effect 2 CE, Prince of Persia (2008) CE, ad The bio shock 2 Ce ( I need to get a record player so i can actually make use of this vinyl record.)

I like Collectors Edition of games if I can afford them. I got the Zombrex Edition of Dead Rising 2 the day it came out along with the Collectors Edition Strategy guide.

I think they are worth it, I searched High and low for SC2:CE, and it was worth it! Aside from that I have:

Warcraft 3 CE
Devil May Cry 4 ( the price was the same)
Guild Wars: NightFall CE(it was cheaper than the single game, don't ask me why but it was a nice "error")

I'm still waiting on a price drop on Bioshock 2's CE.

I'm not a huge fan of collectors editions but if they have some interesting items with them then I'll see my way to save up. My brother has got the Gears of War 1 and 2, Halo Reach and a few others and I think he's pre-ordered the COD: Black OPs one too.
I only have one, that's the Bioshock 2 bumper collectors edition with the amazing posters. Though I did want the Alan Wake: CE but I was short on cash... I'd murder for the Fallout 3 CE with the bobblehead and lunchbox though. XP

Have I read it wrong, or do we get a full set of poker chips as well as the silver one, or just 7 chips? I don't mind either way as the rest of the bundle is awesome, just thought I'd ask.

Other than New Vegas though, I only have Guld Wars: Factions. You'd better believe I'm getting a GW2 collectors if there is one though. I'm not really into collectors editions in general however, as most of the time they give something I don't want.

It depends on what I get out of the collector's edition. Sometimes I'll want the DLC, other times I'll want the supplementary material... whatever. Bottom line, I'll bring for it if I feel the bonuses are worth it.

I have:
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Assassin's Creed 2
- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
- Battle for Middle Earth 2
- Age of Empires 3
- Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm (it was a birthday present and my mom didn't even realize it was the special edition)

And this is not counting "special editions" like compilations or enhanced re-releases.

I almost never go for Collectors Editions. I'm considering the New Vegas one, but in the end I'll likely pass.

You get 'lucky 7' poker chips as well as the 'lucky 38' platinum poker chip.

So yeah.... You get both.
