And.... FALLOUT NEW VEGAS COLLECTOR'S EDITION! Not out yet of course, but I have it on pre-order. Can't wait.
Have I read it wrong, or do we get a full set of poker chips as well as the silver one, or just 7 chips? I don't mind either way as the rest of the bundle is awesome, just thought I'd ask.

Other than New Vegas though, I only have Guld Wars: Factions. You'd better believe I'm getting a GW2 collectors if there is one though. I'm not really into collectors editions in general however, as most of the time they give something I don't want.
You get 'lucky 7' poker chips as well as the 'lucky 38' platinum poker chip.

So yeah.... You get both.
After I posted that I looked into it a bit further, you are right as you 8 chips in total (the original article I read made it sound like a full set of poker chips plus the Lucky 38).

Where have you ordered it from? Do you know what DLC package you're getting?

I ordered it from GAME here in the UK, it didn't say which one I will be getting.

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm getting the Classic Pack.

Some are good. Some are pap. Any EA ''special edition'' is usually just the VIP code like Bad Company 2 or Medal of Honor to get something five ranks early.

However, Bioshock 2's vinyl lp, cd, posters...that rocked. That and Blazblue 2's special edition looks good, mainly becauseI can't say no to decent art books.

A lot of people I know think Collector's Editions are a waste of money.

I however think it's nice to hav something special, especially when it's a game or series that I really like.

So, do you think Collectors/Limited/Special Editions are worth buying?

Bonus points if you tell the internet what games you have Collectors Editions of.
Collector's Editions CAN be worth buying, but usually aren't. To me the determining factor is what they actually have in them, and what I'm actually likely to do with it.

In general if the Collector's edition has a bunch of arty stuff like posters, art books, and audio CDs it's not worth it to me. I have no place to put the posters, an art book is something that I'm liable to look at once or twice and then will gather dust until it's lost, stolen, or thrown away, and it's very rare when I listen to an audio CD from a game.... besides typically to get one I have to commit to the purchuse of a collector's edition before I even hear the music.

The most useless of all items of course is those special "making of" DVDs. Why should I be paying money so someone can talk about how great they are, and promote a game I already paid for? Very few of these that I have ever seen include anything that I even find paticularly interesting or wouldn't have known about the game.

Things that DO wind up interesting me are knick knacks I can put on a shelf (my Vault Boy bobblehead sits on my computer for example), or something that is actually useful. I actually use my "Agarest War" mouse pad for example with the breats you can rest your wrist in. >:)

Things like novels, and works of fiction that expand on the game are also worthwhile. I appreciate a good bit of writing or story more than an artbook. I liked the novel they wrote to expand the game's lore for "Alan Wake" for example.

Really, it can be hard to put a finger on. Basically a Collector's Edition needs to impress me. Chances are if it comes with an artbook, a CD, and a making of DVD or other standard type things my response is going to range from "meh" to "lulz" depending on how pathetic it all seems in comparison to the price being demanded.

That's another factor as well, how much do they think the extras are worth? I don't mind paying a decent sum for worthwhile extras, but when the cost of some artsy stuff doubles the price of a game, that's kind of insane. Ditto for some collectible made out of flimsy plastic (one of the reasons I raged against the Batman: Arkham Asylum collector's edition, because like many people I feel I was mislead into believing the Batarang was going to be made out of metal, especially for what I paid... if you visit a surplus store or whatever metal crafts like knives and the like are not all that expensive, so it wasn't like I had some kind of unreasonable explanation. I even have a Batarang knuckleduster arond that I paid like $15 for somewhere).

At any rate, you can probably deduce some of the collector's sets I've actually bought from the above.

i got the collectors edition of Shadow of the colossus and Just Cause 2
in my experience, the collectors edition always seems to be around a similar price to the ordinary release
so any posters, free downloadable content or extra artwork is always worth it

I dont really think collectors editions are worth it if its just some dlc, i think its pointless. But if you get well made real life extras then its a different story.

I'm a sucker for artwork, so if any is included I'm easily persuaded to get the CE. Have to say I was a bit disappointed with that small piece of paper that came with Mass Effect 2 though. Not quite the artwork 'book' I was hoping for. On a happier note I did get my fingers on the CE artwork books that came with those WoW expansions, even though I have no interest in the game itself.

Most times the CE or LE of games really aren't that good, or even worth it, but I have a tendency to buy 'em anyways.

I've (recently) bought 'em for Halo: Reach, Mafia II, and Dead Rising 2.

I've pre-ordered 'em for: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Fallout 3, Black Ops, and Fable III.

Usually not worth the silly price tag imo.

However that can also be said for most regular versions of games so... :s

Mass Effect 2 is the only CE I've ever gotten, but I wish that I gotten one for Dragon Age: Origins knowing how awesome it was. I'm definitely getting CE's for Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3, and Gears 3 as well.....to me, a CE is really dependant on the game I'm buying. If I know it's gonna be a dud of a game like Halo or some other fps game then I won't buy it because I can't justify a game like that needing a CE. Not to say they're bad games I just don't think they need CE's.

I have Fallout 3 and Bioshock 2 CE's. And now I have to get a UV light to see what some of you guys were talking about.

And soon I'll have the Fable 3 and Fallout: New Vegas ones as well (already paid them off :D)!

Like others have mentioned before, I'll only get collector's editions if the game is on my 'must have' list. This includes;

Empire: Total War
TES IV: Oblivion
Dragon Age: Origins
Assassin's Creed 2
Mass Effect 2

Most of the time I don't think they're worth it (FF12 was a joke) but then there are times where I've been tempted (Fallout 3).

Not really a fan of the collectors edition idea, I find that most of the things that it comes with are kinda tacky like a "halo mask" or "god of war chest".

Although I did recently buy Legend of Zelda:OoT Special edition so maybe I'm a hypocrite (although in my defense, it was the same price as the none special edition, plus it came with the box in relatively good condition and the manual)

I wont go out of my way for it. I don't think I have ever bought a collectors edition before. I have however received a collectors edition of Assassins Creed.
