Poll: Comic Sans: what do you think of it.

what is your opinion of Comic Sans? i've read of and have meet people who want to ban Comic Sans from public use. if you don't know, Comic Sans is an extremely common font, originally used in comic books but is now used in advertisements and webpage headings. their site ( http://bancomicsans.com/main/?page_id=2 ) says that font and typeface are used to portray emotion and tone, and that Comic Sans conveys a light-hearted or irreverent tone that is inappropriate. personally, i don't see how it's inappropriate or irreverent. this might just be the college student in me, but when i type i use italics, emboldening, and underscoring to portray changes in tone in dialogue and rely on clever writing to portray mood in prose between dialogues.

I'm not really that fussed. It gets used a lot by people who think that it makes them look fun and zany.

Honestly, the whole idea of someone getting their knickers up in a bunch over a font that is at least clear to read makes me want to use it all the more. That being said I much prefer other fonts due to them being more professional looking, but Comic Sans as a whole is inoffensive to me.

Comic Sans is the Justin Bieber of the font world. Everyone seems to hate it but it's still popular.

I use it for my webcomic because...well...it's a comic. But when I start my new series I'll be using a different font.

dislike it as a proffesianal letter type, e.g. for a paper i would not choose comic sans. too... light maybe. childish.

The font was designed for children and should be used by them, banned seems unnecessary. What I hate is people who use numerous fonts in a single poster, you know the newsletters where every sentence seems to be a different font. That should be banned.

It's fine when used properly, but outside of that it does look silly and out of place. Then again the same is true of any font really. The only difference with Comic Sans is that it is one of the ones that's most often used when it shouldn't be.
