Never has it ever influenced my decision to play a game.
Though, I won't lie, horrible ugliness has turned me off of a game or two. (Oblivion, looking at you and your ugly fat faced mannequin people)

Typically, sex appeal turns me AWAY from the game. It's my experience that breasts are in reverse proportion to quality.

Section 8; Fallout New Vegas; Portal 2;

Which of these games has sell-able sex appeal?

Hint: None of them.

I really have a hard time believing people actually buy games (or movies, even) based on sex appeal alone.

I wouldn't say rarely but it isn't often. I can be persuaded to spend money at times by the gratuitous display of the opposite sex and any man that denies that is a liar or gay.

I will say though, I don't seek it out.

That's a big never for me. I don't like Japanese games AT ALL, and the games I do own I play a male protagonist, cept for Portal and Portal 2.

Once...ish. I got DOA Xtreme 2 (The one with the sentient boobs) because it was only $10NZ. I thought hell, why not? Turns out the Jet-Ski mini-game was fun as all hell.

It doesn't. I get my games based on quality, not based on what kind of digital boobs or asses I can look at. You won't find a copy of that X-Blades crap in my library just because they made a nice backside for the player to stare at.

Let's just say it's not the stories that keep me buying Zelda games, if you know what I mean. And I think you do.

None. Eye candy, flirtation or bonking like rabbits is ok if it somehow adds to the total gaming experience and isn't just blatant tits for tits sake, but it's no motivation for buying or even renting.

Rarely, as the sex-appeal market doesn't much cater to women.
But if sexy voice-acting counts then yeah, it could influence me to buy a game I wouldn't normally consider.

I won't lie, I've bought some games because of their sex appeal (i.e. Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur). I would be lying if I said "I just play it for the combos." With that said, the truth is that I don't factor sex appeal very often.

So Escapists, it's your turn to confess.
no. There is porn on the internet. for free.

its a plus in games i do get but i have an internet connection.

Considering sexualization would make me embarassed if my family saw it, and thus I keep from buying it because of it, I'd say I'm in the negatives somewhere, which this poll needs.

That is a huge generalization.

None of the games I own were purchased based on sex appeal. Just naming games I've played recently, Portal 2, Bioshock, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Pokemon Black and White, Left 4 Dead 2, Minecraft...

I have never gone into a store, seen a game/sought out a game just because one of the characters was sexy. I don't get to buy games that often, I'd rather buy a game based on the story/gameplay versus chest physics.
