Not very often but if theres gay sex options in games, that could definately factor into my attraction to the game (ex. Dragon Age II).

Never. Sadly, my grandmother gets a say over my games still and I'm not allowed anything that my younger brother could get a hold of and watch/play. But even if I could choose my own games, it would still be none because the sex appeal isn't even there for long as it is.

Rarely, if ever. That applies to both sex appeal and buying games at all. Unless it's a popular series that I'll buy regardless (Half-life and Portal), then I'll research the game first before spending my money.

Sex appeal never plays a role into when I purchase a game, at least not in the context that I bought it because I wanted to see some nudity. There are only two exceptions (and a third on the horizon) where I've bought a game for that reason, but it's not so much for the appeal itself as it is to see how much they can get away with:

Bayonetta - There's little doubt that this is a fun game, and it revels in its own absurdity. Over-the-top combat, borderline nonsensical storyline, and Bayonetta being such a hyper-sexualized character that she's practically a parody of the concept (heck, the entirety of the game's design can be called a parody).

Dante's Inferno - While a shameless God of War clone (it's a solid game at least), it certainly did make proper use of the premise to create a truly disturbing vision of Hell. There's a lot of nudity in the game, but absolutely should not be appealing; more like creepy as Hell (pun intended).

Duke Nukem Forever - Aside from the curiosity of game that's had over a decade of development time, the game looks so ludicrously over-the-top. How much are they going to try and get away with? Well, there may only be one way to find out: play it when it comes out.

Depends how much sex appeal is involved. For example, it didn't matter so much to me with Mass Effect. Sure, Miranda, Samara, and Jack made me feel a little uncomfortable, but I just laughed at how horribly impractical their outfits were, what with the jumpsuit wedgies, questionable dress codes of grandma space nuns, and imaginary "Oh dear lord subzero temperatures of outer space are COLD why am I running around without a shirt?!" monologues.

But when they go too far, they interfere with my ability to play. And there's no point in buying a game I cannot play effectively. As a straight female, I can't enjoy jiggles physics as much as some guys do. (So yes, it can decide what games I buy. If there's a lot of it, I won't buy it.)

My policy is that if a game is trying sell itself with sex appeal, that means it likely doesn't have any other qualities to boast.

Of course don't get me wrong if I can play as a hot chick in a game that is certainly a bonus.

Yowza.
And then in FFXIII-2, her outfit gets a lot more... non-existent.

OT: Basically never, but mostly because I don't want anyone to see me buying/playing those games.

never really.

i bought Bayonnetta because it was over-the-top combat, weird storyline etc, not because she has a tight outfit the removes itself when you cast magic, i would have bought it still if it was DMC5.

i would also consider buying Catherine, just because the story looks interesting.

It's hardly a factor for me (I have Rule 34.com for that)

Record of Agrest War is pretty much the only game I bought based only on the sex appeal. (A fucking awesome mouse pad came with it)

I rented Bayonetta for the sex appeal I ended up buying it because it was an outstanding game.

I got into Soul Calibur before I even knew about the female characters.

I do own DOAX though.

Sex appeal is pretty much the deciding factor in what animes I watch. (That's why I never quite got into Full Metal Alchemist)

Too much sex appeal actually turns me off of games. I don't need to see oversexualized women (or men for that matter), and find it a bit insulting when characters wear clothing that not only defy the laws of physics, but would actually be impossible for them to complete their tasks in real life.

If no one believes it's because of sex appeal then why did the US cover (as Ben pointed out) have people on it as opposed to everywhere else?

Yes pretty much always. however thats entirely due to, and this quite obviously points out my lack of any semblance of a sex life, the fact that pretty much ANYTHING is a turn on to me.

A naked girl is as likley instantly to turn me on as master chiefs armor or god help me but the broodmothers in Dragon age...

Ninja Gaiden 2 found me staring at mr tight/restrictive/..... no more comment.

Sadly its the Next Gen Graphics i have gotten so used to that cause this more and more.

there are times when games are almost completly unplayable because... of reasons i shouldnt post here.

Mass Effects armors with their skintight shaping...... again ill stop there... but simply put the sex scene was by the time i saw it kind of redundant.

I try to avoid games that focus almost purely on Sex appeal as a result... like that Dead or alive beach volleyboob..erm..ball.

Hell... watching Dead bodys get eaten by barnacles in Half Life 2 was a turn on and i would repeatedly let them kill me just to watch........

Games that approach sexuality with the maturity level of DoA put me off, TBH. I enjoy myself some sweater kittens like almost every other man, but I'm not real big on what amounts to a bunch of comically-proportioned Victoria's Secret mannequins playing volleyball.

I'm not against sexuality in video games, though. Mass Effect handles it pretty well, I think. It just doesn't influence my buying a game very much.

I have never bought a game with the thought of, "Hey! This has sexy women in it."

Sex appeal is the last thing I'd ever think of for a reason to buy a game.

While it is not necessarily a deciding factor, sex appeal is generally still a factor to be considered. For example, being able to create an attractive female character in Mass Effect and Dragon Age: Origins has made me partial to those games in contrast with, say, Oblivion or FO:NV, both of which have lackluster character creation capabilities. Catherine is an example of a game that really does rely on sex appeal to a significant extent, but perhaps not to the same degree as Dead or Alive. In the end, while certainly not the most important consideration for me, sex appeal can lend attractiveness to a title that I might not have given as much attention.
