Right. Pretty much, speaking as someone who classes himself as a console gamer, but still has a high-end PC. I think that PC gamers are practically all arrogant, ignorant, elitist bullshitters who think console players are below them.

In my honest opinion, I prefer any game on a console. I don't mind that my graphics are very slightly worse, I prefer everything else.

In any case; I guess that it can be summed up by this:

There are a lot of console gamers who are pre-pubescant annoying spoiled brats, but there are a lot of PC gamers who are much much worse, who say "Oh, it's not how we want it, therefore it's shit." and say "Console... fuck off, you're crap because you don't have as good graphics and we were beaten with a bat of frozen stupid when we were younger".

I've been using way too many ZP quotes recently.
Once again, its a case of some whiny bitches giving an entire class a bad name. And this goes for console gamers as well. I've seen it happen on every system...though the current Modern Warfare 2, and L4D2 arguments are the worst.

Just know that there a lot of good people here, as with consoles as well. And the few losers that won't shut up.

I don't particularly see the point is fighting over which is better. You have less lag issues with consoles, unless you pay a large amount for a good PC. PC is way better for modding. They both have pluses and minuses.

For every annoying PC gamer there is an annoying console gamer. Both worlds have elitist pricks, so the whole argument just seems pointless, and stupid.

It's a great platform, but I don't want to turn into one of them. End of the day, I just want to game.
You have turned into one of those though.
[small](those being different from them)[/small]

I haven't seen you post anything that wasn't bashing PC gamers since one person blurted out the childish idea of a boycott. I don't see how constantly bashing PC gamers makes you better than one that's an elitist dickhead.

OT: I don't have to deal with the elitist attitude from PC gamers as I play on a PC and when I'm talking about console games to console gamers I'm not a prick, and I'm honest when I have no idea what something is and ask.

Play on what you want, I don't want to give up my keyboard + mouse and choice of games, Visa versa for others.

The Wii is outselling everything on Console. And The sims is the highest-selling game series of all time.

I'm a bit of a mix but I feel that PC players (on average) tend to be more invested in gaming (massive gaming rig and all) but a lot of them are elitist idiots who are worse than console fanboys.
Elitist Idiot is a contradiction. or at least that's how it works in my own little world.
All I can say is there are idiots everywhere.

What we have here is a fine example of the difference between Console and PC gamers.

Also, the chairs you can get for your computer are pretty damn good. Not that cheap though.

I find the PC best for RTS's, but I don't get why people say FPS's work better on computers. I always thought that a controller was easier to use on a console. A little more OT though, I would play a lot of computer games if i had a good computer

PC gaming confuses me, with your RAMs and your Gigabytes...

Also I'm too poor/lazy to do it. The Xbox confuses just trying to change my NAT setting :S
RAM is Random Access Memory. It is used to load stuff from your hard drive or DVD for faster access. Gigabyte is 1024 Megabytes. A cd holds 650, or 700 Megabytes. A DVD single layer holds 4.7 gigabytes.

Consoles work the same way as PC's do. They always have. Understanding one helps to understand the others.

Also, what are NAT settings?

A workable computer for gaming will run about 4-5 times what an xbox costs, a good one is even more,so it costs slightly more for computer gaming even though the games tend to be a bit cheaper. I personally have an xbox 360, because I don't want to spend more than $300 on my gaming system, and because I don't want to worry about getting a new video card/computer every other year because the games just got more cpu intensive.
So... you spend how much on a 360? Having never bought one, I can only go on the internet. Here's the first one that turns up on my usual shopping site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Xbox-360-Console-Hard-Drive/dp/B001DTD0WM/ref=dp_ob_title_vg

Now, that's £350 for the console. I bought and built my PC, I spent around £600 for it, so far I'm £150 worse off than you. That console has a 60gb hard drive. Being as mine came with a 186gb HD, and I bought a Tera External (931gb of usable space), I'm better off for storing and installing games on my system.

But hey, ignoring the extra space I get, let's pick up on the other "strength" of the 360. The friends system you mentioned. To use that, you get to use Live. To use LIVE, you have to have to pay, meaning an extra £35 per year. I love that about consoles... You buy the console, you buy the game, you pay the phone company for the line, then you get to pay Microsoft an extra 35 quid for the privilage to USE said game on said console on said phoneline.

I take your point about upgrades and not being able to play stuff though, but if you build the PC right in the first place you're safe for 3-5 years before you need to upgrade.
Another thing is the amount of free games you get as a PC gamer. Remember Counter-Strike? Hell, there are countless games that are free to download and play, like Combat Arms.

Oh yeah, Battle.net is free to use. Diablo 2 had the servers overloaded.

Bad show on furthering the discrimination of gaming on different platforms OP. Shame on you! Why do people have to feel a certain way about people who game on a different system? It's completely ridiculous. I don't feel different about people depending on what they play on, only thing that pisses me off is threads like these.

I took the liberty of comparing the prices of the cost for a decent gaming computer versus the cost of buying a console, and added in the games. Here's how it worked out. ( this is done through Best Buy, a fairly popular electronics store.

HP Pavillon Elite-comes with Blue Ray, Wireless, 8Gb storage, 1 Tb memory- 1,129.00
Assasin's Creed 2- 49.99
Total: 1,178.99

Sony Playstation 3- Comes with Blue Ray, Wireless, 120Gb HD- 299.99
Assasin's Creed 2- 59.99
Total: 359.98

Difference: 819.01

You could argue that there are far better prices that could be found for both of these systems, and you would be right. But, Best buy is a standard electronics store, with standard prices, and the average person would no doubt, consider buying their games and systems from that store. So, it seems to be a good choice for a standard comparison.

In order to make a credible claim that Pc's and console's are on even ground, you need to account for the $819.01 difference between the two. While the computer boasts more power, and can be used for doing other things besides gaming, that is not the question. The question is, for gaming, which system is more expensive?
To your question, I pose Thee a question. What do you do with a Computer that you can not with a Console? I use my computer for everything, and consider the price difference a trade off. Anybody that spends 2 grand for a computer better use it for more than gaming, otherwise it is a waste.

Although I did spend 458 dollars on my video card. It was worth every damn penny.

#1- You can't rent or return PC games, so every purchase is an adventure and a roll of the die.
#2 - It seems every game slows down the comp, and/or requires an upgrade graphics, sounds thing-a-ma-hoozit, and then it lags or shuts-down...

Now that I have a new comp, I'd like to look into some new PC games, started a thread about it, asked for non-shooters, and everyone recommends shooters.. -_-

Maybe he is trying to say that the "fact" that the Wii "sucks" and is selling best means consoles are not good as PC's, and that the Sims (a PC series) is the best selling series ever means that PC's are, again, better.
Who knows. All I know, is that I would take an LCD and an Xbox controller over a computer monitor and a keyboard any day.

I own a gaming PC and a XBOX 360, however I haven't touched the 360 in probably a year.

I could go on about the benefits of PC gaming but that might make me sound elitist as some would say. Let's just say that if you are a bit tech savvy and can build your own PC, and also don't mind putting a little more cash up front, PC gaming can be very rewarding.

The online communities are more involved. The games are more customizable not to mention moddable. Generally I find I get much more enjoyment and replayability out of the multiplayer on PC compared to console. If you want to join a group of people to play with, there are clans and online communities, guilds (in MMOs), that you don't really find on Console. Also I used to attend many LAN events in the PC gaming hey-day. You don't see the huge LAN events/conventions for console unless it's some kind of Pro gaming thing.

I tried XBOX live and hated it and refuse to pay for it. If I had friends to play with all the time on XBOX live maybe it would be different, but the public games were generally frustrating with no co-operation and lots of kids on the mic.

The chairs may be good but can you, lay down?, lay in bed?, lay upside down? while you play?
