My favorite genre is RTS. For most of my life I've been playing them on my P.C. However just recently I got "Halo Wars" and "Red Alert 3" for my xbox. Believe it or not I liked the console RTS controls better than the PC RTS controls. It felt way more organic to paint over the units to select them, instead of selecting them using click and drag. And the subtraction of the minimap didn't bother me at all. Not to mention that the graphics are waaay better on consoles. What do you think?

I disagree massively, the only thing that annoys me about consoles you can't hotkey units as easily and I normally have numbers 0-9 designated to units such as 9 is always my planes/air units for WC3 and RA2

I think you can assign groups in red alert 3, I never used it though.

I disagree.
I prefer the controls on the PC, and it is much easier to micro manage on a key board.

Have you ever played any of the Relic RTSes? Because those are all beautiful games with excellent animations, and click and drag isn't needed as much (because infantry always come in squads in those games).

Please explain that power hungry game that shines so brightly in the graphics department called Crysis then.

The PC games look better then the console games IF you have the requirements for such.

Yeah, you're a troll.
How is that a troll statement? I'm not attacking any one particular game.

Not everyone has enough money to spend on an expensive PC

You're an idiot, then? PCs have had better graphics that consoles since a year after this generation started. It has always been this way.

PC Graphics > Console Graphics, no arguments.

If anyone's a troll, it's you. Stop posting stupid pictures that contribute nothing to the thread. If anyone else reads this, please report this guy too. He's just trying to flame the OP because he disagrees with what the OP thinks. I hope you learn your lesson, mate.

Anyway, back on topic. I played Halo Wars and it's one of my favourite RTSs, I feel that Halo Wars is a prime example of a console RTS done right. The controls work pretty well and they definitely fit the genre. However, I started playing PC RTSs with Total Annihilation years ago, and after AoE, DoW and Total War, I still much prefer the PC RTS. I have no doubt that console RTSs can be done well, Halo Wars and Red Alert 3 (apparently, I've seen it but never played it) are proof of this. It just depends on the developer and how exactly they can make the transition from PC based to Console based.

Please learn a little more about technology.

It's a known fact that PCs are generally capable of better graphics than consoles. There's multiple different new PC components released every year, all based around a similar architecture that doesn't involve a super complicated programming language.

Console components are outdated about a year after release, and awkward to code for with proprietary architectures in comparison to PC. Also what are games developed with? Oh yeah... PC.

I don't know why I'm wasting my time. Obvious troll is obvious. Just fancied a rant I guess.

Its just a lot easier on PC I find when you have the buttons laid in front of you in a row, but this could be force of habit because as I've said certain numbers just mean different things to me 1 and 2= infantry and 3 and 4 tanks, the navy was normally 5-6 7 normally represented hero units (like tanya) and 8 was one off units like chorno-legionaries in RA2 used to collect crates around the map
