If anyone's a troll, it's you. Stop posting stupid pictures that contribute nothing to the thread. If anyone else reads this, please report this guy too. He's just trying to flame the OP because he disagrees with what the OP thinks. I hope you learn your lesson, mate.

Anyway, back on topic. I played Halo Wars and it's one of my favourite RTSs, I feel that Halo Wars is a prime example of a console RTS done right. The controls work pretty well and they definitely fit the genre. However, I started playing PC RTSs with Total Annihilation years ago, and after AoE, DoW and Total War, I still much prefer the PC RTS. I have no doubt that console RTSs can be done well, Halo Wars and Red Alert 3 (apparently, I've seen it but never played it) are proof of this. It just depends on the developer and how exactly they can make the transition from PC based to Console based.
Hey, are you that guy who made that thread about halo wars a while ago? :)
If you mean the one asking if console RTSs could be as successful as PC RTSs, then yes, I am.

Console controllers just never seem to have enough buttons for everything you need to do. I'm not saying console RTS's are bad, but I've always had better experiences with PC RTS's.

...Am I the only person that sees the irony in a bunch of PC elitists flaming someone being sincere because they don't agree with him, and them calling him the troll?

I haven't really tried console RTSs (I'm more of an RPG guy), but I can see how they'd work. I'm hoping Natal will be used to really bring home console RTSs. It'd be like Minority report, but for warzones! :D

...
Please explain that power hungry game that shines so brightly in the graphics department called Crysis then.

The PC games look better then the console games IF you have the requirements for such.
Not everyone has enough money to spend on an expensive PC
And not everyone has enough money to buy the consoles.
People seemed to think that a PC that can run the console games just as well if not better, are going to cost very high, but you can get a decent PC running high-end games for about as much as an Xbox 360 cost when it was first released.
Plus, the PC games have mods. Console games don't. I still play console games, I just prefer PC.
Most modded versions of warcraft III bored me. It would be expensive for me to buy a pc when I already have an xbox 360.
You seem to be missing the point entirely. You're basing the mods on just on game, when I'm considering all games. And it would not have been expensive if you had used the money on your PC instead of buying an Xbox. Mainly, you're only defending the xbox because it seemed simpler, and more game-oriented, so you bought it first.

In fact that's pretty much the only reason this thread exists, is because you bought the Xbox first and are poorly defending it by using really bad opinions because you don't want to admit that you're just being stupid by issuing that statement.

Ya, the hotkeys thing is kinda a cutback. Plus the console cursor moves slower and less accurately than a mouse.

Not every one ahs the money to spend on an expensive console. Though the base units are dirt cheap now, you pay so much more than Pc owner for everything else it soon mounts up to more.

RTS' are limited on the console, since you can't really achieve certain strategies and no hotkeys are available.

So no, there's a reason RTS' are usually on the PC.

FUCK

i thought that said fps and i voted console. which is probably the origin of 2/3 of the votes

lets break it down

three main rts things:
clicking
hotkeys
moving the screen around

doing any of those with a controller is a pain and you cant actually hotkey which is a serious drawback if your playing to a higher level

honestly RTS will always be mouse driven games

And graphics way better on a console? You sir have most definitely not been playing on a PC for years (or at least not a very good one).

Far Cry 2, Crysis, Bionic Commando, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, The Sims 3, Unreal Tournament 3 and many more don't exist, right?

"You need to spend a lot of money in order to get a good PC to run games with great graphics on the PC"

Getting a good PC is extremely cheap nowadays. I never upgraded my PC once since I assembled it myself back in 07, and it's almost 2010. It can run most games with everything at High, and managed to get Medium on Crysis.

Controlling units in an RTS on a console is just plain awkward. It's always easier and more simple to select units using the mouse.

And honestly you DO sound like a troll.

My favorite genre is RTS. For most of my life I've been playing them on my P.C. However just recently I got "Halo Wars" and "Red Alert 3" for my xbox. Believe it or not I liked the console RTS controls better than the PC RTS controls. It felt way more organic to paint over the units to select them, instead of selecting them using click and drag. And the subtraction of the minimap didn't bother me at all. Not to mention that the graphics are waaay better on consoles. What do you think?
All that's happened is you've played 2 good examples of Console RTS games and have jumped the shark and made an outlandish statement. Before you can effectively compare the two platforms, you'll have to play a lot more than that.

OT: PC RTS Games are way better because of the Graphic capability, user-friendly controls and it's easier to micro-manage.

I disagree massively, the only thing that annoys me about consoles you can't hotkey units as easily and I normally have numbers 0-9 designated to units such as 9 is always my planes/air units for WC3 and RA2
The only console RTS I've played is Halo Wars, and if you count Brutal Legend, because most of the big battles are just RTS, not done very well.
I agree, the keyboard and mouse set up just makes things so much easier for an RTS. Warcraft III FTW

The genre of the RTS is something that should not go see what lies in the Console Jungle.

RTS games are based around the mouse pointer, this is why RTS games on the console frequently fall flat. I personally am not a fan of Halo wars at all but since there is no PC version it would be impossible to compare. Let's take RA3 instead. I've played both PC and 360 versions and I can tell you that the control is much better on the PC. If it were possible to play a network game between the two the console controls would be a big disadvantage as everything just takes longer to do. You can't jump around the screen with anywhere near the speed or accuracy. I suppose they could just let us use the mouse but Microsoft isn't too keen on that.
