Sorry, but I disagree. Until the day consoles support a mouse and keyboard in game PC will remain the home of RTS games.

Massively conficting issues. RTSes are best played on pc, but I have to say that the controls on a console are actually better then I thought they would be.

Oh, by the by, JESUS. How much hate have you directed at this one person? Yes your $2500 gaming rig may be able to run the best graphics in the world, but bear in mind that not everyone has that sort of money, and even if they do, they may not want to spend it on a PC.

If a person isn't aware of something, dosen't mean their a troll.

Empire Earth 2 is imo the best RTS along with the total war series. They're all on the PC.
OFC the others on my top RTS list include:
Age of Empire series
Rise of Nations
Civilization series (not really rts but strategy galore)

RTS as a genre is overated. but I have enjoyed the occasional title on both platform and PC and the best platform for RTS games is PC hands down undisputed.

I enjoyed BFME2 on xbox 360 but it would have been twice as good on PC. I played C&C on N64 and re alert on PS1 but the series was much better with a mouse. FACT.

My favorite genre is RTS. For most of my life I've been playing them on my P.C. However just recently I got "Halo Wars" and "Red Alert 3" for my xbox. Believe it or not I liked the console RTS controls better than the PC RTS controls. It felt way more organic to paint over the units to select them, instead of selecting them using click and drag. And the subtraction of the minimap didn't bother me at all. Not to mention that the graphics are waaay better on consoles. What do you think?
The graphics wouldn't be possible on PC? Really? You really think that?

*facepalm*

PCs can have way better graphics, they just aren't standard.

I'm not saying that Console RTSs aren't good, but imagine playing pro-Starcraft on a console.

200 apm is not possible without a mouse.

I disagree massively, the only thing that annoys me about consoles you can't hotkey units as easily and I normally have numbers 0-9 designated to units such as 9 is always my planes/air units for WC3 and RA2
I always have air units on 3 or 6, main attackers on 1, 2 and 4 (or 3 if I don't have air at that point) and in Starcraft, a scanner on 9 or 0.

Graphics aside (PC's can get better) the Keyboard and Mouse simply allows for more precision in control, allowing for more actual strategy and less "throwing gobs of units in one direction". Thats why Halo War's and Red Alert 2 bored me, because it was just unit spam- that's a decade old game mechanics, z-z.

Don't get me wrong, your intitled to your opinion, and Consoles do some things better then PC's.

...Am I the only person that sees the irony in a bunch of PC elitists flaming someone being sincere because they don't agree with him, and them calling him the troll?
So... starting a thread that makes outlandish and downright incorrect statements is not trolling, so long as the person saying them sincerely believes what they're saying? But the evidence given to disprove them is trolling?

I'd say that you are not happy with the "flaming" of your console going on here, but then you're likely to cover your eyes and ears and call me a troll until I stop. So I won't do that.
I don't have a favourite console. I have a gaming PC, a Wii, a 360 AND a PS3. I just play whatever I feel like at the time, 'cos they're all great.

My point is that this guy comes on, gives his opinion and, before anyone even tries to see it from his point of view, we get...

ROFL!!!!! How old is your PC to have you convinced a FAILBox can have better graphics?

So.... Apparently you are either a fool or a troll, which is it?
HA! I scrolled up randomly and hit "quote". I could not have got a more perfect one if I tried. Pure trolling at it's finest! Bravo, Darkness62, you have proved my point most expertly! :D

What is apprent is that you sir are a Jackass of the highest standard. He posts what is his opinion, and although it is wrong, it is not worth that type of reply. If anyone is worth being called a troll, it's you.

Several things about this paragraph tell me that you are doing it wrong.

If you prefer them on console, more power to you. I'm not going to ridicule you for being the only person in the world who thinks so.

You're just the only person in the world who thinks so. Which is fine. It just will be very, very lonely. But hey, we all have our quirks.

Saying that they look better on console is a little bit of a weird statement. Unless you don't have a gaming PC, there is really no support for this hypothesis. The only way I could explain this is if you are referring to consoles being on a TV, but you can put your computer on a TV just fine. Basically, if a console looks better, then that is because you aren't doing something. If you have a huge TV in one room, and a 800 Mhz processor computer in the back room hooked up to a 15 inch monitor, that's not a matter of the graphics on one looking better then the other, it's a matter of your choice of platform, and how you treat each platform.

Everyone should lay off the OP. Hes not a troll. There has been no "Ur PC licks Balls" style comments. Ive not seen FTW anywhere.

I am primarily a console gamer, although I used to play a lot of PC games. For me the console controls have come on in leaps and bounds for FPS's. Now that we have moved away from carrying 10 weapons I'd prefer a controller. 5 years ago I would never have believed I'd one day say that.

RTS it is still wanting though. Endwar worked because it used the mic. If more go this way then console RTS's will get better.

Graphics are better on PC if you have a gaming rig, not everyone can afford a gaming rig. I could afford one but with a young son and famiily I have other priorities. My xbox will do fine.

So far most RTS's are all designed around the concept of micro management. It's always been an integral part of the genre, especially in competitive play. The problem is you cant really micro on a console. You need to have the mouse and hotkeys to be able to quickly micro your units. IT just doesn't work on consoles.

That said, there is one console RTS which actually does a pretty good job on it. Brutal Legend. It actually circumvents the micro problem by mixing in action elements into the gameplay. If your not familiar with it, basically you control your hero unit as you would in an action game, and then give orders to your army. You can do special attacks and buffs etc. Interesting bit is you can take control of individual units in double team attacks, essentially letting you micro that unit... it works really well, and essentially keeps the traditional macro management elements from RTS's, capturing resources, building units, "select all, attack move" type stuff, and substitutes the micro elements with action elements...
But other than that console rts's suck ass, pc all they way

I was going to go off into length about how ridiculous this entire discussion would be, do to how simply prepsterous the very concept of Console RTSs being better than their PC counterparts...

Then I saw the poll results.
