The thing that gets me is that the last time we had such fervent 'console wars' was back in grade school, when is was Ninty vs Sega.
Of course, I grew up and realized both ruled, and I'm hoping this is the case for most of this gen's console fanboys.

if you think about picking up a DC I highly recommend replacing the thumb stick.
the default one doesn't have rubber coating so replacing it is pretty much a must.
To me, graphics have come such a long way, so I am rather grateful that games aren't as much of an eyesore as they used to be. To me, it shouldn't be so much "OH GOD THE TEXTURES ARENT AS PERFECT AS I WANT". It's become so common to have a precise game with a beautiful art direction, that i focus more on gameplay nowJarimir said:

The problem is people who can only get one console so they become annoyed to see other people having fun that they can't so they turn 'violent'.
At the end of the day it isn't that bad of a 'war' and I'd much prefer fanboys to 'fight' each other over the internet then in real life.

i'm sure i won't be able to swing you- in fact i'm not sure i'll be able to swing any hardcore pc gamers but what i will say is that i myself don't care as much about slightly improved graphics and my laziness may be involved too... i do think that its better to use consoles- kind of the thing for not casual but not completely hardcore scene of gaming, also i'm not that interested in mmo's so i never got so involved with using my computer as gaming platform. depends on your background i guess.

They're increasingly redundant now that people are becoming more aware of their needs instead of blind buying. Eventually, the people that start these flame wars will realise that it doesn't matter how much more superior their chosen platform is for their needs, other people prioritise their pros and cons differently. For instance, it may matter to you that the PS3 has better graphics than the xbox, but if someone is buying a console because they want to play games online with their xbox playing friends then they are fully justified for going for that instead.
I should point out that there is a crucial distinction between people who buy things because it's best for them, and people who insist on being pricks about it. Just because someone doesn't buy the same thing as you it doesn't mean they think you're wrong for doing it.
