Never really played fps on a computer, mostly because my computers suck too bad for FPS, so I lean toward the gamepads.

FPS: M+K
RPG: M+K
RTS: Nothing...
TBS: M+K
Racing: M+K
Fighting: Nothing...

(Yes, M+K for racing, too.)

Although I really would like to see what it would be like to play a current-gen FPS on the NES controller. Just to see if it could be done.

I really prefer a gamepad, particularly a 360 controller. Even if the mouse is more precise than a thumbstick a keyboard doesn't even come close. Also the buttons are a lot more naturally placed for a gamepad.

If I'm playing a sports game or car racing game I have to go with a console, it just feels more natural with a controler as opposed to a keyboard.
But you everything else PC is the way to go for me

I love both - the mouse and the controller. Optimally, I wish there was an analog input device for the keyboard - so that when I'm playing a game like GTA and driving a car, I don't have to keep tapping the forward button to simulate holding the analog stick at an angle. I know there are some different types of controllers out there for the PC - but I haven't found one yet that does everything I want it to do. So my pick is OTHER.

keyboard and mouse ftw!
That makes no sense, really. Your thumb is much more accurate than your entire arm, what with it being more flexible and able to make more nuanced and subtle movements. That's like saying "You'll never be able to cut a pizza with a pizza cutter as well as you could with a 2 man professional timber-clearing chainsaw".

Mouse. Definitely the mouse, playing any shooter without a mouse is like running without legs.

But for platformers and RPGs, both keyboard and console controllers are equally acceptable.

I've been playing a lot of Call of Duty 2 on the PC lately, to the extent I can't play Gears of War on the Xbox 360. I suppose I'll say I prefer the keyboard and mouse, at the moment.

I like keyboard & mouse setup. I've never actually owned a console, but the PC controls serve me well enough. I especially like having mouse control over the camera.

Personally I don't care for the mouse and keyboard anymore. Yeah it's a better input method definitely for RTS (which I don't really play) and more accurate for FPSs but I spend 8-10 hours a day using a mouse and keyboard. A nice comfy sofa and my 360 controller are all I really want in the evenings.

Plus, I've never found it particularly hard to aim with a joystick in FPSs anyways and blasting people with triggers is just sweet sometimes.
