How? I mean, unless you somehow make the character into a God, you can't kill an omnipotent being. Gods that were killed in GoW are not omnipotent and are NOT invincible or unkillable. Besides, he could just pick up Mt. Fuji and drop on your sorry ass.

That is, if you tried to attack him directly.

Yes it could be done, but It'd have to be indie. I don't see any mainstream producers hopping on board with it.
I quoted you not so much becuase of your message, but because of your avatar. Now that game is the epitome of survival horror.

But I really hope we get to the stage where it is possible, I don't really see why a game lke that would be a good idea, but the point I'm making is more aimed at reducing the Church's power over society than producing a high class game. Freedom of speech.
IS THAT THE SKI-FREE YETI!?!??!
IT DAMN SURE IS!!!!!!!

/caps-lock assault

That monster scarred my childhood.
Sorry, the caps-lock was fear-induced.
That thing used to give me nightmares, every time he popped out with his spindly little arms was a new level of terror.

You have to kill his followers. That's where he gets his power.
It's a fact.
No, that's Discworld.

Our God is... Oh, wait, the same. Nevermind, carry on. Good luck killing every Christian (half the world?) and every Jew (same God) and Muslim (same God, but different name).

The second two His Dark Materials books are essentially about two children on a mission to kill the Christian God, because he's evil. It's not quite as simple as that, but I'm not going to type out the entire plot. Awesome books, and surprisingly popular considering.

That's what makes it so much fun. A game about killing half the world, who wouldn't want to see that?

Kratos kills gods in God of War, so ofcourse it's been done. Whereither it's the Christian/Jewish/Islamic god, Greek gods, Hindu gods, etc etc etc, they're all gods. Ofcourse the difference is, that the Christian/Jewish/Islamic god is pretty damned populair right now, while Greek, Roman, Egyptian or Norse gods are not.

As a Christian, I believe it absolutely could be made. There seems to be a great deal of anti-Christian sentiment nowadays, to the point I think such a game could make it through. Besides, we had Silent Hill 3, didn't we? Let people make whatever they want, as long as it's a good game.

As for how your character would even be ABLE to kill an omnipotent God, that's another story... Part of the reason Painkiller was able to use the Devil is because he's not all-powerful, just powerful in comparison to humans.

And couldn't an omnipotent God keep creating followers? So much for that theory.

Check your mythology. Greek, Roman (THE SAME GODS - Romans just ripped them off, and every other god they found interesting) and especially Norse gods are vulnerable. And could be killed. Hell, all Norse gods are already dead! Greek ones can bleed, they could die. I mean, Thanatos got even trapped for a loooong time by a mortal.

Christian, Jewish and Muslim God is omnipotent. He can't be killed, only silenced by lack of worshippers. Not to mention, all the terrorists would immediately bomb the developing team for showing an image of their God.

I think he can't create people per se. He can't create souls... I guess.

They were considering making a film of The Preacher at one point (for those of you who are unaware, The Preacher was a series of graphic novels about a preacher who searchs for God to make him answer for his various crimes against humanity and for abandoning mankind, it also included things like a fetishist called Jesus De'Sade, an incestually inbred decesndant of Jesus Christ and a man with a face resembling an arse, called Aresface) so I could imagine them getting away with a game about you heroically going upside God's head with a crucifix.

The Christian god, maybe. But if you really want to set of a shitstorm, try Allah...

Uhhh Allah and the Christin god are the same god. Only difference is that Muslims follow the prophet Muhammed instead of Jesus.

The game could be made but I dont think many people would buy it.
This point exactly.

Religious people wouldn't buy into it for obvious reasons (I suppose you could justify all the satanic imagery in DOOM and Quake etc. because it was you vs. Satan, in other words, you were doing God's work) and a lot of shops would elect not to sell it (in case they get media accusations of condoning anti-religious material etc. 'you hate God? you bastards!') meaning that only those of us who take a light hearted view on religion would be likely to take interest in such a game.

Obviously he could create souls if it was some version of the Christian God. I mean, check out Genesis. I guess they could work the battle like a lot of video game fights, where you have the boss and his infinite waves of reinforcements.
