The original Crysis was just released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and I don't know whether to get this or Crysis 2 for my Xbox.I want to know which one you all think is the better game. I know that the Crysis games are best played on a PC except I don't own a good gaming PC. I want to know which game you all think provides a better experience and why because I am planning on buying one and I don't know which to pick. Please help me. By the way I know the graphics aren't as good on consoles but graphics aren't my biggest concern. Both games look great in my opinion and I just want to know which one was more fun to play. By the way I can get both full games of the Xbox marketplace for the same price of $40 so price does not matter.

Crysis is much cooler than the sequel. I found 2 to be much more casual, which isn't always a bad thing, but it was in this case.
The armor abilities are much better in 1.

To be honest, having borrowed Crysis 2 for 360 off a friend, and later playing Crysis to test out a gaming PC I recently bought, I have to say Crysis came across as a glorified tech demo, whilst Crysis 2 wasn't actually all that bad. So I'd say go Crysis 2.

Crysis is far, far superior to Crysis 2.

I literally cannot think of one minuscule thing that sets Crysis 2 above it's predecessor. It's clear to see where the developer's priorities were during development, and it shows - it is a consolized, linear, and frankly, dumbed down bastardization of a series that rewarded player choice and experimentation.

Even if you're playing a gimped version of Crysis, you'll still be playing the better game.

DirectX 11? I'm pretty sure the graphics improved in Crysis 2. I've only played it briefly though. Enough to be annoyed at the merging of speed and strength.

Crysis is the natural beauty. It just casually creates a tropical warzone playground, gives you a super suit, and says "have fun," letting you have a go at all the different modes the suit has to offer and providing more to play with than it has to. Make no mistake--its spectacle is entirely in how much of the shit you see onscreen is real and can be interacted with. Story is really simple, but effectively executed, with good build-up before you finally tangle with the alien menace.

Crysis 2 is a painted up hooker who doesn't know when to stop with the mascara and always has to have it her way. Post-processing and scripted events in that game are downright ABUSIVE, and the story is this awful thing that can't make up its mind, cramming in a plague, the aliens, a conspiracy from the 1800's, infighting in the government, unjustified paranoia about your suit... it's just a boorish mess that's trying to look smarter than it actually is. It can't make up its mind about whether it's trying to be National Treasure, Half-Life, or Halo: Combat Evolved.

I haven't played Crysis 2, but just the fact that it's set in ruined New York really puts me off. I loved the first one so much simply because of the island environment and atmosphere.

The game looks good, but that brings me back to my original point: I had to mod the game with a graphics editor. That's how bare-bones the graphical options were.

As for which one is graphically superior, I'll leave it up to you. What I have noticed is that Crysis 2 does have significantly more bloom.

Tough call.

On Console, I would say Crysis 2. It was developed with multi-platform in mind, and though im not going to make these angry accusations of the evils of consolization, there were reasonable concessions being made to accommodate a controller better. Also, Crysis 2 is perhaps a bit more polished, though some old school gamers might feel like this makes it more casual. Crysis has more of an open world feel, and feels less influenced by other modern military shooters. If you move towards open world and shy away from the influence of CoD, might want to go with the original.

Graphics wise, Crysis 2 is probably better, but not by a very big margin. Crysis pushed the envelope to an extreme degree, while Crysis 2 just did a good job of pushing polygons. But Aestetic-wise, Crysis 2 does a top notch job. Story in 2 is tighter but more cliche. Characterization...well, let me just say that you shouldn't go into this game to be attached to characters. Go into it hoping for a nifty setting and to kill stuff in fun ways.

So yeah, Id go with Crysis 2.

Heh, pretty much what this guy said.

I mean, Crysis 2 was good and had a couple of spectacular scenes and it was surprisingly bright and colorful, despite it's setting, but just as this guy said, it just won't decide what it wants to be, also, like mostly everyone who played the second game after playing the first game many times, I didn't liked the gimped out powers for the suit, even at their fullest, they just don't feel the same.

I couldn't even finish Crysis 2
The first one was superior in practically every way.

I haven't played the console version of Crysis, but I can't imagine that it was botched so badly that I'd recommend Crysis 2 instead. Crysis is a fairly open, smart shooter. Crysis 2 is fine, I enjoyed it, but it pales in comparison to the first game.

while i liked both, i did play the first one more to see in how many different ways i could do the harbor mission, replayed it many times, and what i always found so fun in crysis 1 was to just go underwater a few meters, then swim as fast as i could to the surface so i would do a jump out of the water like a dolphin and shoot every single thing alive on the boat :0!

you just cannot do that on crysis 2 so crysis 1 gets my vote

Didn't play the first one but I rent Crysis 2 recently and it sucked. In the first thirty minutes of playing I fell out of the map (I wasn't doing anything wierd, just crouching in a wide open area, wtf), then after I restarted that level one of the scripted events I had noticed the first time, where an amrored vehicle ambushes the player, failed to trigger. I walked over to the vehicle and could see there were guys inside but they wouldn't notice me until whatever arbitrary event triggered them to life. Complete bullshit. Oh, and enemies can for whatever reason see and shoot through solid objects, making stealth frustrating at best. It's also, as has been mentioned, totally linear and boring. It has basically everything I hate to see in a game.

I enjoyed both, but there are valid arguments both sides. I suppose the big difference between the two is the necessary increase in linearity from cry1 to cry2, consequence of cry2 being set in new york city where cry1 was set on a tropical island. Even still cry2 allows for greater freedom than most other fps's, and almost every encounter has two or three options for progression. But cry1 has even more freedom, and the open levels make stealthing more challenging and rewarding overall.

Play both if you get the chance, since they're both pretty good, but I say get cry1 first.

I haven't played either but I want to play both. I've played the Crysis 1 demo and it was fun, while Crysis 2 looks badass from the videos I've seen.

Speaking of which, this is a bit OT but I've heard bad things about the DRM in Warhead, even more so then other DRMS. Something like if you change a computer part the original game locks up or something. Does anyone have any input on this? I'm trying to figure out if I should get the complete pack or not.
