go play far cry its more fun :)
Play both! Far Cry is awesome, especially when the AI isn't magically shooting you through tent walls or sniping you from 800 yards away. But I also love me some Crysis.

I loved the Urban Environment in Crysis 2.

...But, I feel that Crysis 1 was the better Game overall.

Recently played Crysis on the PS3 and liked it a lot, it's a good game. But it didn't really feel open world to me. It was big of course, but essentially the game just provides very large corridors. Not that that is a bad thing though, it works well.

I'll pick up Crysis 2 at some point and I'm sure I'll like it as well.

The DX11 patch is the laughing stock of the industry - it made the graphics noticeably worse!
Lol what?

Yeah, the dx11 patch made it a lot worse. /sarcasm.

You can install Warhead a maximum of 5 times before you need to contact EA, but they also released a tool that resets it for you when you uninstall it.
If that's the extent of things I don't mind; I only use one computer and only alter it if something breaks. I've heard people claim it does cause other programs to crash though.

The majority here are voting for Crysis, but Crysis 2 is hands down the better game, with, you know, actual gameplay.
The tech demo myth perpetuated yet again. The gameplay in Crysis is much, much deeper than in Crysis 2. You actually have to think about what you're doing, the game doesn't just hold your hand and funnel you from one small scripted set piece to the next. It's set up more like a first person sim, so it lets you use the various systems in the game to make up your own crazy strategies. Like strapping C4 to your vehicle and driving it full speed at a watch tower, then bailing out and the last second and detonating it. Then using the wreckage for makeshift cover while you pick off the rest of the enemies one by one. Crysis is full of brilliant emergent scenarios that are just waiting to happen. Crysis 2 is more like Halo. Enter area, clear area, magic door opens, enter next area. It's much more standard and simplistic in its design.

Plus, the powers are left totally in your hands, none of this "push a button to see what to do" crap. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Crysis is one of the smartest, most player-empowering first person games since Deus Ex.

The problem is, if that type of freedom is what you are looking for, there are dozens of games out there that do it much better than Crysis. The only thing Crysis did exceptionally well in is the visuals and setting. That is it. All other aspects are either merely mediocre or actually below average. If you havent, you should check out other similar titles, and you will come to that conclusion too.
Can you name even one of these games? Far Cry 2 maybe, but the combat in that game is terrible so I don't know how you could argue that is "much better."

I seriously can't think of one other "similar title" to Crysis, let alone dozens. The only other game that's remotely close is Far Cry, and while I love it, there are some major differences in design philosophy. Far Cry completely lacks the sim elements -- particularly the use of physics as a combat strategy, the flexibility you get from the nanosuit, etc.

Stalker, REALLY DUDE? I love me some Stalker, but it's a completely different beast. There is no focus on open-ended, multi-faceted combat at all, just on the open world.

This wasn't a trick question -- I just genuinely wanted to know, but if you've got nothing, I guess you've got nothing. I'm a huge nerd who buys about 50 games a year, I'm pretty sure my research isn't lacking here.

Which game is better? Crysis I think, it's more fun, I liked being able to approach situations from different angles and with different methods but it did get long in the tooth towards the end. Crysis 2 was decent though, I actually hated it at first but warmed to it.

I also used to be part of the crowd that insisted Crysis looks better than Crysis 2. Then I actually played Crysis again and realised how beautiful I remembered it in my minds eye didn't quite hold up in 2011. Still a great looking game though, especially considering it came out in 2007.

For those who still insist Crysis looks better then Crysis 2, take a look at these screenshots I took with the BlackFire Graphics Mod and Maldo HD Texture Pack.

Shadows and level of detail in this picture are incredible.

Amazing lighting effects.

An example of explosion effects and blur effects.

By the way, this is in DirectX 9. DirectX 11 was a bit too taxing on my PC with those mods installed.

Definitely one of the best looking games out there right now along with The Witcher 2 and Battlefield 3.

I typed stuff here, blah blah, but I mentioned Gears of War 2 not being released on PC.
Just a heads up, Gears of War 2 WAS in fact released on PC, with zero fanfare since it was, at the time, Vista only...
Err, sorry broham, but you're actually talking about Gears of War, the first. Gears of War was released for PC and was Vista only--I know because I made sure my desktop had Vista on it so I could play it. Gears of War 2 (the sequel to Gears of War), the second, was not, never, and probably won't be ever released for PC. Epic Games has made numerous statements to that effect.

The first came out on PC, but then they don't release the second. That's the principle I was driving at. For all the lame excuses and lacking games PC gamers are thrown, the console systems will always have the greater attention and willingness to provide content, since the console gaming community has a greater consumer base. I was quietly expressing outrage that console gamers should get a game that PC gamers hailed as a shining example of PC superiority, and then have it (however eventually) ported to consoles--yet we PC gamers get the first game in a series or trilogy, and subsequent titles are never seen. See not only Gears of War 2, but Fable 2 (sure we got Fable 3, but it's silly all the same).

I have Crysis 2 on the PS3 and am digging it so far. The multiplayer is pretty decent if frustrating. A lot of cheap deaths and stupid design choices, like making the character models for both teams identical so it's hard to differentiate between an enemy and a friend. The light, neutral colors both teams use doesn't help.

The problem I have with the game is that it seems CryTek spent so much time trying to get the console versions up to the standards of a high-end PC game, that in a weird way they ended up making one of the ugliest games I've ever played. Pop-ins, frame-rate drops, low-res textures... the list goes on. It's like a big beautiful oil painting that gets uglier and more splotchy-looking the closer you get to it.

If they'd spent more time stabilizing the game, maybe take out some of the more auxiliary effects, and work on the controls, they'd have a better-looking game.
