It is stupid, there's no reason to have curfew unless it's a time of crisis. I'm glad I live in Britain. Isn't America supposed to the land of the free or something...?
How's having more more CCTV cameras per head than anywhere else in the world working out for you? It must be great being watched all the time.
Huh? That is relevant because...?

At least it isn't an offense to go outside whilst guilty of being under a certain age. Though, yeah, I love being watched everywhere. When they put that camera up inside my television I really felt I was getting the full Airstrip 1 experience. Or, y'know. I'm being sarcastic.

There is nothing for you teenagers to do out in public past midnight besides make trouble in one way or another.
A 17 year old walking home from a party at 2 p.m. with parental consent? Two 16 year olds walking hand in hand on a midnight stroll looking at stars? A 15 year old out hunting with his dad at 4 p.m?

Oh dear god, it's the downfall of society!

I love how there are people reacting to hearing there's a curfew as if it applies to adults.
Who says? I'm reacting to a curfew as if it applies to humans. It's entirely repulsive no matter who you curfew.

I'm 17, lets get that out of the way so you know my point of view, and curfew is silly. There was around 18 of us sat around in a field just hanging out. It was past midnight.

Totally making trouble.

I was merely stating that for a country that is supposed to be 'The land of the free' it isn't very... Free. And CCTV cameras have nothing to do with curfew laws.

Curfew laws violate the freedom of an individual to get out of his fucking house and accomplish absolutely nothing. The government has no right to tell me at what hour I'm supposed to be in my house.

The concept seems alien to me! Curfew laws? Really?!

I disagree with them. People should have the freedom to roam their planet whenever they want to.

Exactly. WTF? Based on the title, I though this was one of those hypothetical threads about whether curfew laws should be instated. What kind of whacked out city/country has curfew laws?

Maybe it's just because I'm nocturnal by nature and enjoy late night walks, but I'd flip the fuck out if they decided to make any kind of curfew laws in my city. They probably wouldn't count for me, being 24 and thus no longer a de facto juvenile delinquent, but it's complete and utter horseshit that anything of the sort would exist. It's basically being imprisoned in your own house.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any curfew laws where I live. That said, the local police department has maybe three cops in it, and all the police from nearby towns are too busy to drive 20 miles to come check to see if anyone's violating curfew laws.

And besides, people could just go for a walk in the woods anyway. It's not like walking on the road would get you anywhere, what with the nearest town being 15 miles away and having nothing but a Subway and a Chinese restaurant. And there's 400 people in the town, so it's not like you could get up to much trouble.

All that said, I wouldn't mind curfew laws if they gave us a side-walk and road-paint. I mean, if you're walking, you pretty much have to go into a ditch to avoid getting hit. It'd be cool if they replaced the stop-sign as well, because people shoot it all the time, and it's gotten bent backwards a bit so if you don't know about it, you won't stop for it.

And now I'm getting off-topic...

I think that people should only have curfews if they have broken the law in quite a hefty way, e.g. vandalism

Didn't I already disprove that in the OP? Sure, my nighttime walk wasn't strictly necessary, but it put me in a much better mood, and I broke no laws (other than the aforementioned curfew).

I have to add myself to the growing list of people who didn't even know places (in the developed world anyway) still HAD curfew. The only curfew that's ever been imposed on me was set by my parents, and asking me to be home at eleven when I had school the next day seemed reasonable to me.

Hehe, I have had a few run-ins with curfew laws here myself. Thankfully I was able to talk my way out of being escorted home, but there's more to the story than that :p

Honestly, one shouldn't get mad at law enforcement for doing their jobs. I'm sure a good amount of them don't like the laws either (I actually know one or two who don't), but it is their job and it is a law. Don't attack the officers, attack the law. Somewhat a parallel of something you will hear on message boards like this, 'attack the post not the poster'.

That said, curfew laws never made sense to me. I doubt the worst of crimes are committed by people under a certain age and at night like that. Tome, it seems like superstition to place such labels on an age group.
