You're right. 2012 is inevitable. Try as we might, we just can't change it. The year 2011 will advance into the year 2012.

As to the doomsday theories, no. Believe me, this is not the first time i've survived through "The end of days." If anything i think the 2012 doomsday theory is my fourth. Where were you doomsday theorists after Chernobyl? 9/11? Weird that the theories of the 2012 doomsday are actually rather YOUNG, isn't it?

Nope. All the bad stuff in the world right now is far more likely to just be "Shit happens" than "OMG END OF WORLD".

That said, I would much prefer the world did end than me having to watch the film "2012" again.

Because the Mayans have never been wrong about the genocide of a large group of humans before. :)

In other words, anyone who believes 2012 is the Doomsday Day needs to go get their head checked out or get sterilized...

This doesn't seem all that different from the other times in history when shit has hit the fan. I don't think there's been a generation where there wasn't some kind of huge disaster that plagued peoples lives.

Also feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but the Mayan calendar doesn't specifically state an dooms day scenario does it? I was told that it just kinda stops.

It looks like 2012 is coming true...Why is the earthquwake in Japan, the radiation, and the star explosion in 2004 (it really did happen, look in to it),it looks like the end days are coming true!I really dont know what to think, maybe its just the end of Japan..(then the ancient mayans where Japanese!)What do you think??
You really have no clue how many apocalyptic events you have survived and didn't buy t-shirts for do you?

There have been earthquakes before and Chernobyl didn't signal the end of the world, so no. Also as I've said many times before, the Mayan calender doesn't predict the end of the world, it just ends. My calender ends every year, but I don't run outside screaming every year because of it.

Wrong, the doomsayers will wake up the day after december 21st and realize the whole thing was a heap of shit. Nothing will change, I'm just fine with that...

I think the world is always on the brink of one disaster or another. Wasn't the world supposed to end in 999 and 1999 after all? Yeah, not holding my breath.

Chaos pops up everywhere, because chaos is the natural state of everything. Just because there's an earthquake here or an explosion there, doesn't mean the whole damn world is going to explode.
That's just what the Explosivites want you to think.

I also just hope Americans DONT re-elect obama lol
lol! expecting the end of the world if that happens?
ugh. he hasn't done as much good as everyone hoped. i just don't want a ton of massive mistakes...i just subconsciously assume that he'll cause a lot of it if he gets another term lol
im LDS, so im expecting shiz to hit the fan big time in the next 15-20 years max, but its just a "we'll see what happens when it happens" thing; i just guess, i don't have any knowing about it. but i keep an open mind to HOW things might happen.

btw, the pic rocks!
heh, thanks. :)

I have a hard time blaming any president when it is congress and the senate that we elect to pass all of the laws. Besides, Obama has been in office for 2 years, his predecessors had DECADES to fuck shit up. You can't fix in two years what it took decades to fuck up, even if you did have the full cooperation of the legislative branch - which Obama doesn't. Our country is so fundamentally split down the middle on ideological lines and the polarization is only getting worse. The viewpoints have gotten so polar opposite, it's almost like we are two separate countries mixed together.

Shit needs to hit the fan and ALL the ideological crazies on both sides of the aisle need to be put out to pasture if you ask me. Hey, maybe that is what will happen in 2012?
you're right. i should blame the whole government as far as they're corrupt or whatever. its another thing i forget that ALL presidents get stuff wrong. they have their good moments, and their bad. people just need to stop being biased about it. people loved and hated Kennedy, people loved and hated Bush, Washington, Roosevelt, Adams, you name em, they had their fair share of criticism. besides, people thought that the apocalypse was gonna come when...i forget which president it was, but it was i think back in the 50's-70's period...i think it was Reagan, but yeah, and look how wrong they were!

Time just goes on, we need to prepare for the future, but remember that the world is still good and worth saving.

as Urdnot Grunt said in Mass Effect 2: "offer one hand, but arm the other." xD

Silence, I hear them coming!

In all seriousness, the world is not going to end any time soon, unless the sun inexplicably explodes, irradiating the planet and then leaving it to super-cool.
Note the inexplicably :D

Why can't anyone just consider the theory that maybe the calendar maker was tired of writing dates that wouldn't happen for hudnreds of years.

"That's it, I'm done. Screw you guys. Call me when you run out of dates."

And I will quote the great Yatzee

"Humans love apocalypses

It's a well-known fact that every major civilization in history has believed themselves to be living in, or near to, the End Times. Whether it be biblical Armageddon or nuclear war or climate change, the human race has built an entire industry out of doomsaying. Why? Because it's comforting. It's egotism on a generational scale. Just as people can't cope with the idea of their death simply being the cessation of their entire existence, they also don't want to know that the human race will be continuing unconcerned after they've gone. If the apocalypse happens during our generation, then that means we're the most important humans who've ever lived, either because we're the last ones or because we're the only ones who could somehow stop whatever Ragnarok awaits.

But this is wishful thinking. The fact is, if 100% of the doomsayers up to this point were wrong, ours aren't going to be any different. Humanity is too widespread and too disorganized to bring about their own total extinction and the Earth is too small and insignificant to reach the attention of any giant asteroid or murderous all-powerful intelligence. You're going to die and humanity will tenaciously march on, forgetting about you and the entire world you knew. Your body will turn to dust and you won't even leave children behind to leave your mark, just a bunch of out-of-print humor novels and an archive of dick jokes that will probably be wiped when the Space Puritans take over. Perhaps even that is egotistical, to think the Space Puritans will consider your dick jokes important enough to censor, and more likely they'll simply languish forgotten on some disused server forever. And now you're projecting again. Stop it."

So, my answer is No.
