Well if the Great Leader of North Korea kicks the bucket and presses the nuke button on his way out for 'teh lols' then the apocalypse may occur.. but other than that we'd know about imminent natural disasters, unless Yellowstone blows its top which it might its in the range for a blast..

Seriously, not the end of the world. Just the Earth doing it's thing. The only thing that would end life here anytime soon is a giant asteroid. Luckily, we have some nice protective planets orbiting around and taking all the punishment for us.

We have earthquakes just like in japan almost all the time. Most of the time, however, it occurs in remote areas, so they really don't matter. It just happened to be near a major city. If, perhaps, the earthquake (same magnitude) occurred somewhere in northeastern russia, no one would have freaked out.
