You've left me in a position where the only thing I can do is repeat my previous post like you just did,
Alternately, you can stop focusing on the arguments you want to argue against and start reading what other people are actually writing.

Oh will you stop acting like the fucking humor police SWAT team already?

Is the act of rape, in itself, funny? No.
Can jokes about rape be funny? Hell yes, they can.

Here's a secret for you: Humor is subjective. Just because you don't think dark humor is funny doesn't mean everyone agrees with you - or indeed - that everyone who disagree with you are instantly horrible people for not agreeing with you (a thought that seems to run rampant among the people trying to outlaw "offensive" jokes).

The idea of BRONIES defending the use of gang rape joke to shut up a woman who had a legit complaint is almost as shocking as when I found out that there were Nazi bronies...
Oh god the pain...
A legit complaint that she shouted out in the middle of a crowded theater that was filled with people who paid good money to see a show. She deserved what she got. I don't care if she's offended by rape jokes, because I get that. I don't particularly like them either, but I don't ruin other people's fun to voice that opinion.

And no, I'm not a "men's rights" activist. I recognize men have certain advantages in society, that much is true. But claiming rape is a hate crime against women completely ignores the men who have been victims of rape, which is to me a LOT more offensive than making rape jokes, because now you aren't just making light of it, you're pretending it doesn't exist, which is fucked up. So yea, most rapes happen to women, sure, but that doesn't invalidate the ones that happen to men, and they do happen more often than you would think.

But I am amused that you thought Bronies were somehow above offensive jokes. Like some children's cartoon somehow makes people transform into better people. That's a good one, that is.
Excuse the hell out of me for assuming that fans of a show that hammers in "friendship and understanding" like a jackhammer would also tend to believe in friendship and understanding.
Part of friendship and understanding isn't shutting people up with rape jokes.
I hate to say it, but it's like trying to take the piss out of a black guy with a lynching joke. You KNOW why you don't so it, and you KNOW why you shouldn't. If you do it anyway, then you're just a racist asshole. Same situation.
Actually Tosh seems like the kind of comic who WOULD take the piss out of a black guy with a lynching joke, so... I don't really see your point with that. He's offensive, that's his thing. He ain't the only one either. Are you going to crusade against every single comedian that makes jokes about rape? Or racist jokes since you also seem to have a problem with that? Because that includes... just about all of them. Do you hate comedy?
If he did something like THAT, he wouldn't be able to get booked to draw flies to horse crap.
And yes, I'd call him a racist asshole, and I'd make sure everyone knew that he was an asshole. I'd be on the campaign to get him fired. I'd help organize the boycott on comedy central until they stop employing a racist. Yea, I'd definitely go there without a second thought.
I'm not easy to discourage. I'm about as bull headed and stupid as you think I am about this.
But I straight up don't care. Screw Comedy, this is the real world.

So you admit that you're being stupid about this...? Then why are we still arguing? If you don't care that quite a few people have pointed out how silly this whole thing is, then obviously nothing is going to convince you. Go on, enjoy your campaign. I hope you have a cleric, because its futility is probably going to wind up hurting you a fair amount.

Also, he would totally still get booked, because he's said things like that more times than I can count. He has his own popular TV show too, ya know. Been renewed twice at least, and probably will again. Says racist and otherwise offensive remarks on it alllllll the time.

You are aware that people can say things they don't believe right?

Some one who doesn't harbour racist views can say something racist because they believe it's funny without that becoming their opinion.

It's insensitive and you don't have to like them for doing it, but saying they're racist for it is just wrong.

No I mean a joke.
Like one based on a stereotype or some such.

It's entirely possible to be amused by the joke because you are aware of the stereotype, without actually believing the stereotype.

Fake edit: on a side note, is it just me or has the Escapist been getting a little r/mensrights around the edges these last few weeks?
Its you.

Please, tell me what it feels like to be a woman walking down the street at night when all of a sudden you see a man walking towards you. Describe the feeling of tension, and suspicion. The feeling you get when you realize that you cannot even walk down the street and have a sense of security, simply because you were born a woman.
When you hear your own mom describing these feelings, it begins to hit home.
That is called prejudice, kind of like if a women grabbed her purse if she saw a Black guy walking down the street.

Well I guess we just disagree about that. If a joke doesn't come out of a place of hate and is more laughing at the stereotype then anything else then I don't have a problem with it.

I don't hate black people, but I can still laugh at jokes about them talking at the movies. Same as I can laugh at jokes about white people not being able to dance.

If you think that makes me a terrible person then so be it, I can live with that.

What legit complaint? She was disrupting a performance for everyone else.

She was rude, barging in on everyone else's niche entertainment.

She didn't do research. She didn't look into who was doing their show. She could have barged into a Lisa Lampanelli show and was called a "shit eating dyke with a shit filled putrid vag."

Now she wouldn't have liked that would she?

I just hate how you talk shit but when anyone else calls you out on it, you suddenly become a coward and run off. If you have the time to go on a petty crusade against Tosh, at least defend your points. Otherwise, stop wasting the Escapist's time with your mentally unstable rants about how a dark comedy comic hurt your feelings. We don't care, get over it.

If you want to whine, call the waaaaambulance. The internet is not meant for your to cry and moan and ***** about your problems. So stop treating the internet like its your personal diary.

I should have addressed this earlier, but yeah Lisa Lampanelli probably DOES have something wrong with her. I haven't run away from anything. You have a CHOICE when you click a thread or read a post. You desire to come to this thread and express your opinion. If you don't want to see mine, then don't come here. The internet CAN be my personal diary, that's just how it is.
Deal with it, no one is forcing you to listen to me.
Also, Mentally unstable? How?

This entire thread is merely about if this:
Is justified right? Of course it is. When people heckle you you have a laugh at their expense. When you mock them you do it in a way that meshes with the content and flow of your act. That's what Tosh did.

I'm of the mind that absolutely anything can be funny. I strongly back up/support the equation comedy = tragedy + time. The thing is there is always a time and place for such things and not everything is going to be appropriate all of the time. Telling a joke about a heckler getting gang-raped may be inappropriate but it can be funny if it's done by someone who's known for argumentative, angry humor. Making a quip about an indignant fan/listener, talking about how funny it would be if she was gang raped, is a new level of douchely.

Then again, I've never really been a fan of Tosh...always thought he was kind of a dick and am unsure how his show has been going on for so damned long.

Seem like someone doesn't know Daniel Tosh .

I mean seriously . He's a dark comedian . Some people just don't get dark humour , this includes OP.

I don't know what's more disturbing- The people who think what he said was justifiable because she was heckling or people who think "Wouldn't it be funny if she got raped by five people" qualifies as a joke.

I'm tired of shock jocks and comedians who are famous just for being "politically incorrect". Well fucking done. You said something most people wouldn't say. How brave of you to run around hurting and offending people with no repercussions. I wish I had the guts to run around spewing hateful and offensive garbage. Oh wait, I do. I just choose not to because I have a sense of decency.

Naturally there was the set of responses which were clips by a series of other unfunny comedians. Look, Jimmy Carr is politically incorrect but at least there is wit and technique in the construction of his jokes. People find him funny because he is clever, unlike George Carlin and Bill Hicks who rant and scream and act like fucking retards, amassing a fanbase of impotent fucks who think that someone ocassionally stating the obvious and other times spewing outright bullshit is really amusing and profound.

Have you ever heard of anti humour? Or dark humour or fun at someone else's expense. That's all that is going on here.
