Can jokes about rape be funny? Hell yes, they can.

Here's a secret for you: Humor is subjective. Just because you don't think dark humor is funny doesn't mean everyone agrees with you - or indeed - that everyone who disagree with you are instantly horrible people for not agreeing with you (a thought that seems to run rampant among the people trying to outlaw "offensive" jokes).

A legit complaint that she shouted out in the middle of a crowded theater that was filled with people who paid good money to see a show. She deserved what she got. I don't care if she's offended by rape jokes, because I get that. I don't particularly like them either, but I don't ruin other people's fun to voice that opinion.

And no, I'm not a "men's rights" activist. I recognize men have certain advantages in society, that much is true. But claiming rape is a hate crime against women completely ignores the men who have been victims of rape, which is to me a LOT more offensive than making rape jokes, because now you aren't just making light of it, you're pretending it doesn't exist, which is fucked up. So yea, most rapes happen to women, sure, but that doesn't invalidate the ones that happen to men, and they do happen more often than you would think.

But I am amused that you thought Bronies were somehow above offensive jokes. Like some children's cartoon somehow makes people transform into better people. That's a good one, that is.

Excuse the hell out of me for assuming that fans of a show that hammers in "friendship and understanding" like a jackhammer would also tend to believe in friendship and understanding.
Part of friendship and understanding isn't shutting people up with rape jokes.

So you admit that you're being stupid about this...? Then why are we still arguing? If you don't care that quite a few people have pointed out how silly this whole thing is, then obviously nothing is going to convince you. Go on, enjoy your campaign. It's insensitive and you don't have to like them for doing it, but saying they're racist for it is just wrong.

Please, tell me what it feels like to be a woman walking down the street at night when all of a sudden you see a man walking towards you. Describe the feeling of tension, and suspicion. The feeling you get when you realize that you cannot even walk down the street and have a sense of security, simply because you were born a woman.
When you hear your own mom describing these feelings, it begins to hit home.

Well I guess we just disagree about that. If a joke doesn't come out of a place of hate and is more laughing at the stereotype then anything else then I don't have a problem with it.

I don't hate black people, but I can still laugh at jokes about them talking at the movies. Same as I can laugh at jokes about white people not being able to dance.

What legit complaint? She was disrupting a performance for everyone else.

She was rude, barging in on everyone else's niche entertainment.

She didn't do research. She didn't look into who was doing their show. She could have barged into a Lisa Lampanelli show and was called a "shit eating dyke with a shit filled putrid vag."

Now she wouldn't have liked that would she?

Is justified right? Of course it is. When people heckle you you have a laugh at their expense. When you mock them you do it in a way that meshes with the content and flow of your act. That's what Tosh did.

I'm of the mind that absolutely anything can be funny. I strongly back up/support the equation comedy = tragedy + time. The thing is there is always a time and place for such things and not everything is going to be appropriate all of the time. Telling a joke about a heckler getting gang-raped may be inappropriate but it can be funny if it's done by someone who's known for argumentative, angry humor. Making a quip about an indignant fan/listener, talking about how funny it would be if she was gang raped, is a new level of douchely.

Then again, I've never really been a fan of Tosh...always thought he was kind of a dick and am unsure how his show has been going on for so damned long.

Look, Jimmy Carr is politically incorrect but at least there is wit and technique in the construction of his jokes. People find him funny because he is clever, unlike George Carlin and Bill Hicks who rant and scream and act like fucking retards, amassing a fanbase of impotent fucks who think that someone ocassionally stating the obvious and other times spewing outright bullshit is really amusing and profound.
