The idea of BRONIES defending the use of gang rape joke to shut up a woman who had a legit complaint is almost as shocking as when I found out that there were Nazi bronies...
Oh god the pain...
A legit complaint that she shouted out in the middle of a crowded theater that was filled with people who paid good money to see a show. She deserved what she got. I don't care if she's offended by rape jokes, because I get that. I don't particularly like them either, but I don't ruin other people's fun to voice that opinion.

And no, I'm not a "men's rights" activist. I recognize men have certain advantages in society, that much is true. But claiming rape is a hate crime against women completely ignores the men who have been victims of rape, which is to me a LOT more offensive than making rape jokes, because now you aren't just making light of it, you're pretending it doesn't exist, which is fucked up. So yea, most rapes happen to women, sure, but that doesn't invalidate the ones that happen to men, and they do happen more often than you would think.

But I am amused that you thought Bronies were somehow above offensive jokes. Like some children's cartoon somehow makes people transform into better people. That's a good one, that is.
Excuse the hell out of me for assuming that fans of a show that hammers in "friendship and understanding" like a jackhammer would also tend to believe in friendship and understanding.
Part of friendship and understanding isn't shutting people up with rape jokes.
I hate to say it, but it's like trying to take the piss out of a black guy with a lynching joke. You KNOW why you don't so it, and you KNOW why you shouldn't. If you do it anyway, then you're just a racist asshole. Same situation.
Actually Tosh seems like the kind of comic who WOULD take the piss out of a black guy with a lynching joke, so... I don't really see your point with that. He's offensive, that's his thing. He ain't the only one either. Are you going to crusade against every single comedian that makes jokes about rape? Or racist jokes since you also seem to have a problem with that? Because that includes... just about all of them. Do you hate comedy?
If he did something like THAT, he wouldn't be able to get booked to draw flies to horse crap.
And yes, I'd call him a racist asshole, and I'd make sure everyone knew that he was an asshole. I'd be on the campaign to get him fired. I'd help organize the boycott on comedy central until they stop employing a racist. Yea, I'd definitely go there without a second thought.
I'm not easy to discourage. I'm about as bull headed and stupid as you think I am about this.
But I straight up don't care. Screw Comedy, this is the real world.
Its funny that you mention that this is "the real world" because the real world is a worse place due to you living in it.
LMAO.... ok this is rich. Hey SadakoMoose... do you know what the term hypocrite is? You my fine friend are a huge one. You replied to a post I amde complaining that you weren't all about censoring comics for their acts. And then you post this where you straight up admit it. The fact you'd do everything in your power to silence someone who disagree with, amkes you a censor.

This made me laugh quite a bit...
Please edit this to fix the quote.

You do realize there are comedians that do that, and still get booked. Heck they get shows. hell, this is Carlos Mencia's whole comedy. And he isn't the only one.
Where the HELL is he getting booked?
Last time I saw, he was hawking weight loss tools on Galavision.
(True story)
Maybe he isn't anymore, I haven't been paying attention to stand up comics lately, but he had a show for 2 or 3 seasons on comedy central and this didn't predate his horrifically racist and insulting jokes.

LOL ah that Tosh fellow always makes me la.... Wait, the escapist mob is actually calling foul on this? I MEAN! Yeah, that Tosh, what a, what a bastard! How dare he use such a thing. Clearly this should be censored/removed, as it should have never happened! This including any jokes related to sexuality, or sex, or race, or weight. Also, swear words, no one finds any of this funny, we should just pass legislation and ban the lot, obviously unacceptable.
Nope, definitely not saying that.
I'm just saying what I feel, and exercising my freedom of choice and speech.
Just because you disagree with me, doesn't mean I'm trying to shut you up.

Clearly Tosh has committed a horrible wrong and should have to get her a waverunner to make up for it.

But no, seriously, I love dark humor. If you don't, fine, but don't heckle the comedian. Just leave. And if do heckle the comedian, especially a professional one, realize that they have experience making the hecklers stop, usually in ways that make the hecklers look bad to the rest of the crowd. Hell, I'd say Tosh handled that really well, as it doesn't seem like it ruined the flow of his set and made the rest of the crowd enjoy themselves at the sametime.

On another note, Tosh.0 isn't very good so I don't watch it anyway. More a fan of his stand-up. That said, because of this thread I'm going to make sure to turn it on and muted while I'm doing something else for the next month.

I know right. Have you ever seen a sad person riding a waverunner. It is impossible. Seriously have you.... have you?

While, judging by the articles, this was a bad joke in poor taste (both the original joke and the one directed at the woman), I'm not convinced that rape jokes can never be acceptable. Jokes about terrorism, genocide, and all sorts of other unpleasant things are accepted, as long as they aren't just, "LOL, isn't terrorism/genocide/whatever hilarious," which seems to be what Tosh did. So yeah, jokes about anything are ok as long as they are funny and not in poor taste.
Yep, agreed. If it's done well it works, if it's funny then it's funny, 2 + 2 = 4.

I can see that many people have a standard and just can't except certain jokes, but just ignore them dammit. We all find something offensive and most of the time we have to tolerate it, our personal beliefs are not respected at all.

Also, Tosh stinks, ignore him with the power of a thousand suns. He offends me because he is terrible at his job.

I honestly never really presented any opinions about Tosh. I only presented the fact that he was currently alive as a positive in his favor. He is alive that is a fact. I guess you could argue that being alive is not a positive thing, but I would have a hard taking you seriously. Unless you are a Zombie o_O
This is what I first thought that you were doing, but I convinced myself it had be something else, since it's such a moot point. Great, Tosh is alive, he is still a douche. Moving on.

The only reason this is a thing is because rape was used in a joke. I don't think it matters really all parties made a bad decision and people should move on. This thread is a waste of time with a bias poll. People who like Tosh will still watch him and the ones who don't will not simple as that.

uhh? hello? COMEDIAN?

How would you like it if he came to your work slapped stuff out of your hand and yelled to everyone there that you sucked at your job, that it did not meet his criteria for good work and disrupted your work day.

If you don't like a joke or routine feel free to leave anytime you are uncomfortable, don't make yourself an ass by trying to halt everyone's good time and also a target for the comedian.

You were heckling and got burned, happens all the time, just move on with a lesson learned, don't make some thread about rape jokes because you are embarrassed and trying to make him out to be the bad guy to make yourself feel justified doing something dumb.

Uhh I hate llamas, they should all be rounded up and deported into small prison camps, so they will no longer offend anyone. This is also what should be done about every comedian who ever made an unappropriate joke. Let's put them all in camps and have them work slave-labour, it's what they deserve for being slightly insensitive to a specific group.

In any case, maturity isn't subjective by its actual form and definition.
Yes it is. Go back to the drawing board and try again.
Maturity is not subjective. You can be immature and thus juvenile or you can be mature and thus conducive to proper behavior.

You can't subject what proper behavior is because etiquette and proper behavior has and will always be universal. Your opinion of what is proper may change but the definition of what is in society won't.

You can also not interpret what juvenile behavior is, because that's pretty much set in stone, and while you can debate age, it has nothing to do with age.
Lol. Don't make me giggle and fall of my stool. What you consider proper is purely opinion based--different people, cultures and races all believe different things are proper and improper. I don't think you even know what subject and object mean. Here, let me show you a few examples of what the two are:

Subject: good, bad, right, wrong, hot, cold.
Object: science, mathematics, time, reality.

Don't try to argue the definition of words with an author unless you know a little something about English.

Appearantly you give a shit, since you've been replying to me nonstop. And judging by the amount of pages this thread has, I would say that a LOT of people give a shit about what Tosh says. I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in that I could care less about Tosh and his brand of 'humor'. That is all.

Never understood why giving a negative opinion about anything or anyone usually gets greeted with a "no one gives a shit" reply. Very intellectual comeback that, very useful. Not.

Anyway, if you need me I will be watching some old George Carlin DVD's, this little back and forth between you and me has left me feeling nostalgic.

Obviously he didn't intend it to be some sort of threat or genuinely believed it would be funny but when an audience member is clearly offended I don't think the best reaction is to then directly try to offend them. On the other hand, I believe that when it comes to choosing to attend a comedy show of a specific person, that it's up to the viewer/audience member to at least have some idea of the nature of the comedians' jokes. Then again, as a comedian who generally brings up touchy subject matter, you'd think he'd react more appropriately to someone being offended by a rape joke. Really, the entire situation is a clusterfuck.

A lot of incredibly inappropriate topics can be used to make a joke while not being made in poor taste but I really believe, as a comedian - someone who pursues a career out of making people laugh - an individual should make an active effort to recognize how people react or could react, and have an appropriate response... y'know, to avoid situations like this (and that of the whole Kramer debacle).

A quote from Tosh's Twitter account said:
the point i was making before i was heckled is there are awful things in the world but you can still make jokes about them. ‪#deadbabies‬
One poor choice after another it seems.
