A lot of people see Dark Knight Rises turning into a modern-day Return of the Jedi but I don't see it like that. New Hope can stand on it's own whereas Batman Begins is kind of forgettable. I don't know about DKR quite yet because the teaser is just that: a teaser. From what I saw though, Batman's Bat-armor looks like a mix between the Batman Begins/ Dark Knight armor if it was over-coated in the latex/rubber form Batman Returns. I wish they'd show a bit more of Bane but really, all I need to do about that is wait. Dark Knight Rises is too early to call overall.

The Avengers looks like something else. Everyone looks like they've just jumped out of their respective comics (except for Hawkeye who hasn't got his costume yet). Costumes aside the various pieces in the Avenger's puzzle have all look pretty good although they all have varying levels of success. Iron Man is kind of a weak link I thought and The Incredible Hulk seems like the odd man out since that movie was kind of a reboot and there hasn't been word of a sequel since it came out back in 2008. Personally, I liked Incredible Hulk more than both Iron Man films (Thor being my favorite, Cap-USA being a close second). As was mentioned before though, The Avengers is a huge, HUGE project likely with the best of everything blah blah blah.

Obviously they're both cash-grabs. Isn't that the point of making super-hero movies to begin with? They're recognizable, they're loved by kids, they're almost guaranteed to make a certain amount of money just by having the names of those characters. They're both cash grabs but I see Batman as being more of one. Everything seems to be either a one-off film or a trilogy (or too fucking long; a series that should have died long ago, blah blah blah). Nolan really doesn't need to make a third Batman and honestly I'd rather see someone else make a new Batman, someone who isn't ashamed to add in the elements of magic and, other-worldliness.

The Avengers is something completely different. Nothing like this has been done before, the closest thing being the Harry Potter saga. The Avengers may be a huge flop but it's still different. It'll be worth seeing and it's the one I chose in the poll.

Nolan won't let us down. He's the best. It's not just his Batman movies. Inception and the Prestige were great movies. I am sure he will provide a worthy sequel.

Avengers OTOH is going to suffer from the fact that no matter how "prepared" you try and get the audience through trickling hints in other movies, there's never a good time to do a giant crossover movie.

I loved "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight", but when it comes down to it, I have only two words to say...AVENGERS, ASSEMBLE!!!!

i've liked all the "Road to Avengers" movies, but I'm uncertain how all the elements will mix together. Nolan has done well with his previous Batman outings, so I've alot of faith the 3rd film will be good. So i voted for Bats, doesnt mean i wont like the Avengers

(BTW:I love the Ultimates comics over Batman comics)

I prefer Batman, so I'm more excited for that. But you had better bet that I will be at both midnight launches

I don't think Dark Knight needed a sequel, and frankly I'm still annoyed it gets one. It'll probably be good, possibly better than Avengers, but in the back of my mind I will always feel it's an unnecessary movie.

I wasn't that excited about the Avengers it until I realized that Joss Whedon was the writer and director. Squee!

Looking forward to both, but if I has to pick it's got to be The Avengers. Bats is kinda overrated IMHO but I still liked the recent movies.

Avengers is somthing ive been salivating over since I heard about it all those years ago, and now it's but a year or so to wait.

Option 4: They both sound interesting and I look forward to seeing them once I can.
Seconded, probably Batman first, mainly because I'll be all over Arkham City so more Batman is a good thing.

Personally, I think that the Avengers is going to suck.
I think it is going to have the same problem that the Untouchables had where they had way too many heroes, and had to give each and every one of them a part in the story, and really didn't focus on the main point of an old 80-90's flick, the main hero.
The Avengers is going to try to give everyone a piece of the action, but is going to leave fans of the individual super-heroes unsatisfied.

I myself was disgusted when I saw that now only are they rebooting the spiderman movies (my favorite superhero), but they are starting from the beginning AGAIN and without Toby Maguire!

and to what end? to add him to the avengers roster -.-

That is Sony, not Marvel/Disney who are rebooting Spiderman, simply because if they don't release a film every so many years the IP reverts back. It's got nothing to do with the Avengers movies. That's truly a shameless grab for cash.

Spiderman, Iron man, and Captain America are all part of the Marvel Avengers. If you are saying that they are not starting up every franchise so that they can make an avengers movie, then you may need a visit from captain obvious :p

I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight Rises, because of all the care and devotion Nolan has put into the story and franchise. I enjoy superhero movies as much as the next guy but for some reason I just don't care for the Avengers. (I still watch but I'm just not hyped for it.)

I have no doubt that The Dark Knight Rises will be a good watch, but I just don't think it will be as fun as the Avengers. I'm just getting that sense of brooding darkness from Christopher Nolan's Batman movies whereas so far the Marvel movies haven't been too serious and it looks like they'll have their fair share of fun and action.

The Avengers wins out for me I reckon.

I expect good things from Dark Knight Rises, given that Christopher Nolan has yet to make a bad movie.

I am weary of The Avengers, the reason for which coincidentally being why so many of my nerd brethren are hyped for it: Joss Whedon.

That is exactly what I am saying. Marvel/Disney DO NOT have the rights to make films about Spiderman, the Fantastic Four or the X-men. Because back before Marvel had it's own film studio and they were bankrupt they sold the rights to make those into movies to Sony and Fox respectively.

Marvel has absolutely no input in those productions such as the recent First Class and they make minimal money off them because the contracts were made when they were so desperate. But if Sony and Fox do not put out the movies every so many years then Marvel can make them again. This happened with the Hulk and more recently I believe the Punisher. So Sony had to make a new Spiderman after Sam Raimi and Toby Maguire walked from Spiderman 4, otherwise they loose a potential cash cow.

Spiderman will not appear in the Avengers, he cannot appear in the Avengers. The only caveat is that Sony may sell their subsidary Paramont (who possess the Spiderman rights) if they make a lose (Sony isn't doing so well in general). If and only then if Disney purchased Paramont or the right reverted, could he appear in the Avengers and in that scenario it still would have not been their decison to remake the latest Spiderman movie.

Amazing Spiderman not Marvel/Disney and the Avengers fault.

I'm more excited for the Avengers, I prefer Marvel Comics over DC. Both movies are worth going to see I bet.

And with a title like "The Dark Knight Rises" (which is the stupidest sequel title in the history of stupid sequel titles)
Rise Of the Planet Of The Apes.

*dusts hands*

Well if you want to get TECHNICAL it's a prequel. Still doesn't detract from the point that THAT is the worst title ever.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes is indeed pretty bad but at least it tells you what the film is about. The Dark Knight Rises doesn't even do that.
So, what, Rise of the Planet of the Apes tells you that it talks about the rise of the Planet of the Apes? About how the Planet of the Apes rises?

Kind of like how Dark Knight Rises tells you that it talks about the rise of the Dark Knight? Like how it tells about how the Dark Knight rises?

I don't get how it tells so much, and The Dark Knight Rises doesn't. Enlighten me.
