A lot of people see Dark Knight Rises turning into a modern-day Return of the Jedi but I don't see it like that. New Hope can stand on it's own whereas Batman Begins is kind of forgettable. I don't know about DKR quite yet because the teaser is just that: a teaser. From what I saw though, Batman's Bat-armor looks like a mix between the Batman Begins/ Dark Knight armor if it was over-coated in the latex/rubber form Batman Returns. I wish they'd show a bit more of Bane but really, all I need to do about that is wait. Dark Knight Rises is too early to call overall.
The Avengers looks like something else. Everyone looks like they've just jumped out of their respective comics (except for Hawkeye who hasn't got his costume yet). Costumes aside the various pieces in the Avenger's puzzle have all look pretty good although they all have varying levels of success. Iron Man is kind of a weak link I thought and The Incredible Hulk seems like the odd man out since that movie was kind of a reboot and there hasn't been word of a sequel since it came out back in 2008. Personally, I liked Incredible Hulk more than both Iron Man films (Thor being my favorite, Cap-USA being a close second). As was mentioned before though, The Avengers is a huge, HUGE project likely with the best of everything blah blah blah.
Obviously they're both cash-grabs. Isn't that the point of making super-hero movies to begin with? They're recognizable, they're loved by kids, they're almost guaranteed to make a certain amount of money just by having the names of those characters. They're both cash grabs but I see Batman as being more of one. Everything seems to be either a one-off film or a trilogy (or too fucking long; a series that should have died long ago, blah blah blah). Nolan really doesn't need to make a third Batman and honestly I'd rather see someone else make a new Batman, someone who isn't ashamed to add in the elements of magic and, other-worldliness.
The Avengers is something completely different. Nothing like this has been done before, the closest thing being the Harry Potter saga. The Avengers may be a huge flop but it's still different. It'll be worth seeing and it's the one I chose in the poll.
