You are talking about the wrong company. Namco Bandai is the publisher so they decide on DLC and the like. From Software just makes stuff.Bat Vader said:If FromSoftware is smart they will release the extra content on the PC version as free DLC for the console versions. If they don't they will most likely upset a lot of people.
'Getting'? The Enhanced Edition patch/DLC went live the same day as the 360 version launched - 17th April.Eddie the head said:On that note isn't The Witcher 2 getting free dlc for the PC.
No it wasn't. The extra content was always intended for both platforms.Even thought the extra content was made for the X-box.
Well, superficially the situations aren't any different...I fail to see how this is any different.
FrostyChick said:It could very well make it to console, there isn't really a good excuse not to release it on consoles. But it won't be free, it costs the publisher/developer money to get content added to those systems. From what I've heard most the extra content for the PC version was being planned to be released for the consoles anyway.
It's not unreasonable to request it but if the usual quality of a console to PC port is any indication it's unreasonable to expect it to happen. Is it really such an unreasonable request to do something properly?
I thought the developer of the game gets the final say on DLC. That kinda seems unfair that publishers have that much power over a developer.80Maxwell08 said:You are talking about the wrong company. i think some of those decisions were made to make it even between console and PC players in terms of controls.FrostyChick said:It could very well make it to console, there isn't really a good excuse not to release it on consoles. But then again, I'm starting to lose interest. Sure, Games for Windows Live was a bit of a bitchslap, although it's understandable as it would make porting the netcode a lot easier. Then I heard the keyboard/mouse controls were going to be limited, I also heard it was going to be locked at 30FPS.
The more I hear about it, the more I feel like it's going to be a botched porting job. Which in the end hurts everybody, it hurts the consumers as they're left with a product that isn't fit for purpose and it hurts the developers as the sales will take a hit as a result, possibly even turning them away from PC development altogether.
Is it really such an unreasonable request to do something properly?
For future reference look down the page it was two posts away. You don't need to reiterate that.RhombusHatesYou said:No it wasn't. The extra content was always intended for both platforms.

Put it this way - if the publisher isn't going to fund making the DLC why would most developers bother?Bat Vader said:I thought the developer of the game gets the final say on DLC. That kinda seems unfair that publishers have that much power over a developer.
The publishers have the final say on roughly everything. When the game is shipped regardless of if it's even finished or not, the IP rights to do whatever they want with it and the right to do whatever they want with DLC. If the publisher wants to cut the last 1/5th out of the game and sell it to you as DLC (see Asura's Wrath) then they can.Bat Vader said:I thought the developer of the game gets the final say on DLC. Well all I heard was they where making a x box version that was going to have extra content and that it was going to be free on the PC as well. I wasn't really fallowing the game that was just kind of something I pieced together. I was wrong it would appear they are different somehow I don't don't play either game. So just forget I said anything.gmaverick019 said:well i could say
"final fantasy 7 is getting a PC only HD remake" and i'd get quoted asking for sources/how in holy hell that's true. I was just curious as to where you had heard as such.
Since when does "better support mouse/keyboard" automatically equate to "fundamentally change the gameplay"?Joseph Alexander said:I think some of those decisions were made to make it even between console and PC players in terms of controls.
a large part of the attraction of the souls games is the fact you can't pause and root through your inventory mid combat for an antidote or similar curative, you have to plan your on hand inventory about what you'll want/need for the immediate future(think the witcher's potion system but less stupid and arbitrary).
In effect they want you to play the game like it was made to be played from the start, with a controller not a keyboard.
