War Hammer 40,000 – Dawn of War 2 recently was released for PC. To the dismay of players, the 4 race offering in DOW2 seemed somewhat lacking from the 9 race extravaganza of Soulstorm, and it left some of us with Dawn of War blue balls.

Relic has claimed that they are exploring the option of expansion material/DLC, what races does the community want to make the cut?

Personally, if I can’t rampage across the battlefield with a Bloodthirster of Khorne or tear bits off of Space Marines with my Daemon Prince its not Dawn of War! :)

Needs more blueberries Tau. It'll be interesting to see what they do with the wealth of tanks and vehicles they process.

No Chaos. Eh, they are basically the same thing.

Personal preference would be Imperial Guard, because that is the race i played in DOW, but I dislike to many human factions, so I would go for my second choices being Tau or Necrons

I'm rather glad they started off DoW2 with only four races. I know several people who are grumbling about there being only the Space Marine campaign and nothing for the Eldar, Tyranids or Orks and in order for that to happen, the game would have been held from release for another several months to add them in.

Saying that though, I'd rather hope that they adopt the Valve approach to their games and releasing free content.

I want to see IG and Chaos, Dark Eldar would be awesome and I could live with Necrons and even though I never enjoyed either I'm sure we will see Tau and SoB eventually. They can't help but make expansions.

My only problem is that it just doesn't sound that difficult to add new races. The problems with all of Relic's previous expansions were the crippling IMBA each one introduced. When Winter Assault was added IG was insanely powerful. When Dark Crusade came out BOTH Tau and Necron were insane and when Soulstorm came out SoB and Dark Eldar both sported a game breaking bug (faith abuse and T3 towers).

The simplicity of DoW2 would make introducing new races far easier, however, I just don't think they will feel as zsazzy as they did during the last series because all they will be doing is adding units and not necessarily a drastically different play style for each. The difference in play style between Space Marines and Necrons in the original was drastic, everything from the units, the buildings, the tech trees, upgrades, commander use was different. In DoW2 the Necrons would have to be difficult to knock down, almost immune to suppression and slow moving which would be fun but I'm not sure if it would be enough of a draw for Relic to spend money on making it happen.

im quite thankful that they only released a small amount of armies to start off with, if they started with all the armies...

1) they wudnt really make that much money out of it
2) it just wudnt b as fun with all the armies in becasue they would proli have to do daily patches just to fix things
3) it wud take FRIGGING' ages for the game to come out to put ALL the armies in and make campaigns for ALL of them and not just one
4) it means that next expansion they can release one or two armies with new campaigns
5) it also means that people get excited about future games and the developers can read forums like this and see what players themselves want
6) not all the armies would be suited to the playing style of DOW 2, remembering it is an RTS/RPG

I would personally like the Necrons to be in at least one of the expansions. If chaos should be introduced they should make it much more demons than chaos space marines.

I want a single-player campaign for the Orks. I know this isn't what you meant, but I would have liked to seen single-player campaigns for all the races (well, maybe not all, but Orks had to be included).

As long as we have as good a campaign as dow 2s i dont have a major concern as to what they add, just no to dark eldar and Sisters of Battle, i dont know why but i just didnt like there looks, felt to rushed and moddy

My votes on the guard and hoping for a Cadien Gate defence!

That would be nice, but I'm afraid it may be THQ's decision, not Relic's.

I would like to see some thousand sons.

A campaign based around the 13th black crusade with IG + Chaos would be fecking awesome.

Although what I really want to see is the Horus Heresy, or more precisely the battle for the Emperors palace, somewhat doubt that'll ever happen though. GW have never seemed to like touching 'past' events in their games, on tabletop or pc.

Edit: Also if IG got added, really hope they'd have an inquisitor character. Inquisitors have so much potential for win.

Hence why I said "in their games, on tabletop or pc". I know about the Horus heresy series of books, but meant that they've never made a tabletop scenario or video game about any of the events which happened in the past of 40k lore, or at least none that I've ever seen.

Imperial Guard, though it wouldn't seem fitting with the game's style. The Imperial Guard are the epitome of cannon fodder - each soldier and in fact entire armies are utterly expendable and easily replaced. That said, there are certain "legendary" armies and units that can be found in the canon so I guess it might work if you focused on that side of the guard.

I want Chaos, IG, and dark eldar (obviously). I also want them to a system where the team colors affected the play style. Like, raven guard commanders could get jump packs and lighning claws. Or that only Khorne affiliated chaos could have Khorne berzerkers. That would be really nice. Reply if you have any more ideas like that.
