I'm kind of embarrassed but I took the all caps option. I love death metal.
There's nothing wrong with caps, IS THERE?

I hate grunting with a passion, so it's a definite no for me. Plus the way they play the guitar hurts my ears. No thanks, really, please keep it away from me. Really far away at that.
May I ask what you listen to instead?

I like a lot of the sub-genres. Not all, but many. Especially Melodic Death. In Flames are pure win with melted cheese topping.

No I'm more of an industrial metal/grindcore type.

I do like that guy Burzum though.
Not to be "that guy" but burzum is black metal. This only matters to us metal heads so deep in the sub genre game that we bleed distortion.

I like ALL types of metal, except for some of the REALLY old stuff and most power metal, save for Children of Bodom.

I hope nobody says "But without the old stuff, you wouldn't have death metal now!"

Yeah yeah I know.
Don't worry about people who say that. I seriously doubt any of them listen to a lot of Victorian era music, or medieval music. Hell, I doubt they listen to 1940's Jazz and that's relatively recent. The music they listen to wouldn't exist without those classics, it doesn't mean you have to listen to or like it now.

Just throw that in their face next time someone says it to you, make them look silly :D

...Wha..
Burzum? And we're discussing death metal. Am I getting trolled here?
Yes, Burzum. It's technically Black Metal but I count them together usually.

Yes, I am well aware of his political views. Don't really care, it's damn good music.
I don't give shit what Varg thinks or has done, I love the music, I've got everything Burzum has released. It's just that black metal and death metal are a bit like Ireland and the UK. People treat them the same because they seem similar, while they're in fact vastly different. I thought you were trolling by mentioning black metal in a death metal thread.

I think jail just got to him. (Even though Norweigian prisons are actually 4-star hotels). I don't a shit about his views though and still listen to his music. Though its a shame to lose Euronymous though (He was an asshole but he started the whole black metal thing).

I like Melodic Death Metal the most. Arch Enemy later years with a female singer is my favorite metal band.

Yes you can, quite a large variety of genres (from disco to classical to rock, lots of things 'for the lulz'), but my favourite one's are jazz and rock in quite a few variates.

Among my favourite bands and artists are The Beatles, John Coltrane, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Freddie Hubbard, Micheal Bublè, Queen, CCR, Jimi Hendrix, Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Miles Davis, but also Muse, Radiohead, the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack composed by Yoko Kanno, the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack, the Aquabats, Streetlight Manifesto, even Nine Inch Nails.

I used to listen to a bit of metal, but I left that behind (still can't believe I used to listen to Dragonforce....). Today I might turn on the occasional Metallica song, but that's about as metal as I get, I prefer to listen to other stuff nowadays.

Except when he/she actually does listen to that music, like me. But it's still a stupid argument to make in the first place, so just don't pay attention to it at all.

Yeah, it's about one of the only things I listen to. I'm aiming to branch out though.

I believe the correct technical term is 'cookie-monster vocals [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWac5UT80no]'.
