A friend of mine wanted to play FF7 as she hadn't before and was getting pissed that everyone was telling her how to experience it. She was ranting to me about this and I told her I'd lend her my copy and to ignore/block everyone who is trying to tell you how to play and just .. PLAY it. Experience it your own way. And it's been better for that. You have a more open mind to it if you weren't listening to everyone's feelings about it.
That being said, that's how I feel about FF7. It's a good game, lots of stuff underneath it that isn't easily seen, but I'm not going to throw a fit and argue on the internets if another person doesn't like it. Just how it is. I even liked Dirge of Cerberus (But, I'll admit, I got that for eye-candy/Vincent's backstory) and not for a serious look at the compliation of FF7 whatnots.
I wouldn't mind a FF7 remake ..actually I've convinced myself it's already done and just waiting for a special launch for FF7's 15th anniversary. More likely, however, they're going to continue doing new storylines and different battle systems for the PSP/PS3, or leave it alone altogether. You're never too sure with Tetsuya Nomura and Squeenix. Though if they remade FF9, I'd definitely be very happy; it's one of my favourite FF's .. though that card game sucked. I liked the one in 8 better. stupid Edea, give me your card already!
... but i'll be honest. I'd buy it, and hope to see blood when Aerith get stabbed.

Are you serious? A remake of a game that has had so many sequels/spin-offs made about it already! Have you forgotten Dirge of Cerebrus, Advent Children, and the rest of the titles attempting to make the FF7 lightning strike again? I personally think that this single title has been sucked down to the marrow. A remake is just unnecessary; FF7 was groundbreaking...for it's time. If you remake it every so often, you'll end up with a mess like the Star Wars series, or the Indiana Jones series.
I'd rather have Square-Enix explore new potential for IP's rather than flogging Final Fantasy games in general. I especially don't want to see a VII remake, since Nomura and co. will try to weasle in all the bullcrap that was presented to us in Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, like someone else said they are really doing a George Lucas here.
FF7 was a god of a game when it came out the first time, a lot of haters posting on this thread. An up to date remake would be six shades of awesome, I would be very supportive of a PSP port as well. It's about f****** time already. I mean Star Ocean has been ported for crissake.
Why, may I ask, would you want something that would inevitably leave you whining about them doing it rong when you could be playing a new game?
Anyway, Final Fantasy eight is more plausible for spin offs*, since the main protagonists actually had jobs.[/b] Fun ones, where you get to do epic things. Do I want a remake? no. Mabye a spinoff or something to delve into the life of the SeeDs or something, but it would be a new game.
