In retrospect, why didn't I quote? Anyway, in reply to The Virgo:
You can compare two completely different things. That is, after all, the only way we discover that they are different. Anyway, what's more important is that you can still decide which is a better game. One way, for example, is to judge the experience it will provide. In this case, Deus Ex provides a stable single player experience that is mostly well-designed and fun. Battlefield 3 provides a single player game that isn't worth paying money for, and a more thought-out and focused-on multiplayer game whose quality is basically on a rollercoaster and, as such, is completely subjective (namely, subjective to the player and each individual online match he or she plays) 100% of the time. Therefore, I'd argue that by all rights Deus Ex is a better game. However, that may or may not be the issue in the OP's decision. I think the issue which game the OP would enjoy more.

I would say get Dues Ex I am on my second play through and easily got 40+ hours out of it. BF3 I got yesterday and can't run it because of issues with the instalation (PC). Probably going to have to surf through a load of forums to find a solution.

Even if I get BF3 working the SP will be short and then it's the MP has huge variations depending on the people/friends etc playing it. I expect it will still be very good but Dues Ex blew em away, the soundtrack for one thing is great.

Two very different games BF3 is all about the MP which is great if you like the MP in previous Battlefield games the campaign thus far 3 levels in is ok nothing spectacular but nothing too bad either, Deus ex was an amazing game with a lot more to it than I initially thought deep story good stealth and rpg elements and a good shooting system to top it off easily one of my favorite games I've ever played. Their both excellent but totally different types of games BF3 the huge MP spectacle versus Deus ex the deep dystopian rpg its really going to boil down to do you want a great MP game that'll last for years or the finely crafted single player story and systems of Deus ex. It's a toss up you can't go wrong with either but I'd pick up BF3 while the MP is fresh and easier to get into and pick up Deus ex later since it being a few months older changes nothing except there'll be more dlc for it.

Basically the title sums everything up. I want to either buy Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Battlefield 3. I really like FPS's and RPG's so (in my eyes at least) it's a pretty fair toss up between both. I'm also planning to buy Skyrim, if that changes anything.

Really off-topic, but is my avatar showing up? For me it's showing the broken link thing where my avatar would be.
Answer a simple question: Do you want a single-player experience or a multiplayer experience?

If you want single player, then Deus Ex. It's an awesome game and it doesn't have a trace of multiplayer.

If you want multiplayer, then BF3. It's the latest multiplayer-focused AAA Modern Military FPS but the single player campaign is short and boring.

And your avatar is showing up fine.

Honestly.. you probably have BF3 already on your console a few times.. its not that unique or different from any thing else out there.

Deus Ex is something you probably don't have and will provide hours of entertainment and a unique experience to boot.

I donno if my vote was fair. I don't really like shooters that have a military focus, so I vote for Dues Ex because it's got an imaginative premise at least. Haven't played either.

Deus Ex: HR. And I didn't even like Deus Ex: HR.

BF3: Another bloody military FPS with pseudorelism and focus on MP.
I wonder how many more ignorant gnomes like you will crawl out of the woodwork and curse Battlefield 3 for focusing on multiplayer. I take it you also believe Battlefield started as a singleplayer based console shooter in 2008? Newsflash buddy, Battlefield was multiplayer-only the first 4 games before it ventured onto consoles.

It really comes down to if you're a single player or multiplayer guy/gal. Only this year I've had the pleassure to play great single player games like Portal 2, Witcher 2 and Deus Ex which I praise equally. Battlefield 3 however is the best multiplayer game I've played since Call of Duty 4. Take note that I play it on the PC, don't know how badly gimped the consoleversion is.

Unless you have a team of dedicated BF3 friends who are all above average players and can get on WHENEVER you want to play, you should get Deus Ex.

Dont get me wrong, BF3 is a decent game, but everyone SUCKS. ((No offence to the people who read this and are good, but 90% of the BF3 community can barely dress themselves in the morning.))
Every match you play will involve 3/4ths of your team, being snipers, and not only that, being BAD snipers, while your assaulting.

Deus Ex: HR is a game you cant really go wrong with. Great story, tight combat, amazing voice acting. The best part of the game? No teammates trying to 360 no scope someone 50 yards away.

So in short, get Deus Ex unless you have a team of good players you can always be online with.

That's a pretty good question. Mostly because I really like multiplayer and I'm a fan of singleplayer.
Well in that case it's a simple matter of which you prefer.
Battlefield is an absolutely gorgeous game, and has an absolutely terrific multiplayer. Just disregard Singleplayer; it's just.... Well, it's hard to believe it's from the same dev that made the Bad Company campaign.

Deus Ex being an entirely Singleplayer game, and admittedly one of the best of all time, it's all down to which you want more.
I love both, so I couldn't really say one or the other; they're far too different games to say which one is better in my opinion.

Or, just flip a coin!

I played a bit of DX:HR and I've played a bit of the Multiplayer mode-Battlefield 3. I'd say Deus-Ex though since I like single player far more than multi. Also, Battlefield doesn't have split-screen so there's no getting together with buddies unless you do lan-parties. I've heard the Jet fighter bits of Battlefield 3's multiplayer are amazing but I counter that with a, "Oh yeah? I can cut out the FPS middle-man buy picking up the latest Ace Combat!"

Short answer, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Deus Ex doesn't have Splitscreen, and I have heard the latest Ace Combat is terrible. Played the demo and BF3 jets are far superior.
I didn't mean to imply Deus Ex had split-screen or multiplayer. I mentioned Battlefield not having split-screen because when I went to play it, it was under the assumption that I could play it with my Bro-in-law. Granted we could still play but it turned into a game of pass-the-controller instead of a simultaneous kill-fest.
Oh that makes more sense. Was wondering what you were talking about :p

did you play it?
Yes, I played it. It is a competent FPS and I never said that the gameplay was bad. I simply don't like the same mechanics that nearly every FPS has (lvl and perks, regen health) and the setting does not appeal to me.

Dues Ex: HR on the other hand is not a setting which is used by every third game that hits the market. It has an appealing story and is, if you have to choose between BF3 and Dues Ex: HR, more likely to be a good expirience.

Edit: Also, the Eula of Origin violates german law. Added to the other things I found unappealing about this game the choice wasn't really hard.
ah. i can agree with that reasoning, and thank you for not raging

The Battlefield fan in me says that you should buy BF3 but Deus Ex:HR was a really great game and I good mix between FPS and RPG so if i compare both games on the same grounds I would say... none or both!
BF3 has MP so it will last longer on that ground but Deus Ex:HR as a really nice SP with open world features

Yeah, I really don't know why DICE decided to fuck the console players so bad. I mean, MAG could hold up to 256 players and it (I think) didn't have nearly the amount of money DICE had to make this game.
Its quite simple, the PS3 or consoles at whole is limited by its tech it has wich doesent allow it to have as many players as the PC version! As for MAG probably was made so it would fit in with 256 players from the beginning and if I remember correct it means that they have scaled down other part of the game quite much so it would work!

On consoles you have to chose between Quantity or Qualtity! Cant have both as on the PC

Do prefer long games with a heavy story and gameplay that gives you lots of choice and challenge or do you want a simple minded multiplayer game?

I'd go with Deus Ex:HR. Haven't played BF3, but I doubt it's any different than all the other big FPS titles.

DX:HR - great game, with replayability close to zero. There's no place for questions like "i wonder what would change if i'd try different way". I honestly don't know why anyone would like to play it more than once.
