Black ops was a financial titan. As a game, Black ops was good enough; popular things are popular for a reason.

You may feel you have to stray from an accepted norm to stand out or you may just not like the game. Opinions will always be suggestive.

It made about one billion dollars.

If thats a failure, then shit, sign me up for failure!

Black Ops lacked the wow factor of MW2 but it is everything we wanted in MW2; zombies,a decent long-ish campaign, balanced multiplayer and lots of new content (5 map packs?). It is a good game for a cod fan.

I hope so. The sooner the genre stagnates the sooner they'll quit oversaturating the market. Then only quality fps will be acceptible again. I can tell it's already starting to happen.

I much prefer Black Ops to MW2, I never played anything before that so I only have the 2 to go off of. the multiplayer in BlOps is much better, more balanced, less game breaking combos (danger close one man army anyone?), I think it's superior.

It's okay:]. Not gonna have the lasting appeal of the previous games though, which is why I voted 'a little'.

At the end of the day, it's an old game series that's starting to get stale; these things happen.

Maybe it's time for Call Of Duty to die? I mean, they had to change some things to make it a new experience, even though some of the changes might not be for the best.

Ohwell, I know there is still fun to be had in the Barebones playlist...that stuff's balanced.

Also, the single-player campaign is very graphic, with bodies blowing up and other things. So I'm guessing you haven't played that?

Gonna go play some now, actually. One thing I will say is that online is only really much fun playing it competitively like I sometimes do, or at least playing with some mates. It's too bland and boring to play alone anymore.

That is all.

After MewTwo, I didn't even want to try BLops... That and how I heard it is the game that plays itself.

It did a better job then the train wreck known as Modern warfare 2. Apart from one gun, it feels reasonable in it's mutiplayer balance and the zombie mode is terrific fun. It's playerbase never cease to amaze me with it's vuglarity though, no wonder the playercards don't have the alphapet on them. The biggest annoyance is single player which went mad. Apart from some eariler missions the story was mental and not fitting with the period. Still, I got my money's worth. Also, I'm guessing you liked halo reach TC? In my opinion that game was bungie flipping the bird to hardcore fanbase in terms of it's story and then releasing the same shitty mutiplayer with even worse maps. Least Treyarch tried to change it up a bit.

Well I didn't actually pay for it so I found it enjoyable if not trying to hard to appeal to the 12 year olds that actually would enjoy the bullshitty campaign, seriously, I'm surprised they didn't throw titties in their to pander to the poeple who thought the campaign was awesome, no offense to anyone here.

But I digress, I had a good time with it despite thinking it wasn't really a good game.

So I voted "little bit"

Fanancially it was a mega success so I think it can only have failed in a very narrow sense of the term. I didn't buy it as I was let down by MW2 so it failed in making me buy it.

Didn't it outsell MW2 on the first day? It definitely didn't fail, but that doesn't make it a good game.

You can expect to see BOps2; Even Blacker, out this holiday season...and it will sell just as well, whee 12 year olds, and will be just as mediocre.

It might nothave co-op in story mode, and multiplayer is balanced out fairly well now, so I don't see why people are complaining. Oh, I'm sorry, did you want stopping power and juggernaut? Well, then, screw you, stay in modern warfare, and stop camping for the eight-millionth time!!! I think that the additions and adjustments were extremeley well. So, I say thatnk you, Treyarch, for such a good game and something to do over winter Break...

Not really, but it's very subjective on where you're coming from. Given the general view of CoD, I'd say people will regard it as a failure (being CoD and all), but if you look from a perspective of someone like me, who has played multiplayer quite a bit, you can say the campaign and the multiplayer was a step-up above MW2. It seems like it was made to satisfy the people that found MW2 to be a disappointing mess after it strayed from what CoD4 had established.

i don't agree, although i only started playing cod since MW1, i liked the single player story and the multi player was half decent - and the nazi zombies was great too, personally i have no problem with it

there were some things missing, but no it did not fail.

personally, i think it had the best campaign of the franchise. and you can really tell TreyArc is TRYING. people need to give them a break

Call of Duty 3 was completely terrible in every way

Call of Duty: World at War was great, and much improved

Call of Duty: Black Ops was awesome, and even more improved

what more can you ask for? at this rate, the CoD games that they develop in the future will be better and better.
